I also want to add for those looking to do this thinking it's a performance improvement, with the STOCK camshaft there is NO PERFORMANCE GAIN TO BE HAD HERE. As he stated this is just an "ease of use" modification or quality of life improvement. Even with the cam swap, the intake volume is sufficient for maximum output. The stock camshaft profile was INTENTIONALLY designed to reduce output and any power gains you see are from the exhaust swap, and not that the stock exhaust doesn't flow, it's the spark arrestors little 20mm outlet that restricts total flow (even with the catalytic converter, it's large and doesn't impose much if any flow reduction).
For a race only application this is fine, but for dual sporting and general riding around, this opens up to much more dirty air and water whereas the stock airbox will pull clean air from under the seat pan and shield from water.

How much does this increase the risk of sucking debris into the intake?

send over to Ricky Stator to have it rewound. It will handle the draw after. I have a video on 'Stator Removal'
