Mike Logan won that game for us, literally 3 times - fumble recovery, ST tackle preventing long return, and INT on final play to preserve the W. That's why he's one of my all time favorite Mountaineers
You got that right brother. He would probably be the first to say that it was a total team effort, but he stood above the rest. When a team can pull out a win like that when they are not hitting on all cylinders, that’s the mark of a champion.
@gmiles119 Yeah, I've had the pleasure of meeting Mike several times over the years and he's a true class act. Supreme athlete and an even better person
This was a great classic WVU football game, with a classic and classy WVU football coach. Thank God we have another one in Neal Brown, who will bring back that culture that Nehlen fostered so well. I see a WVU NC trophy in the not too distant future!!
Nice having a coach bringing back mountaineer pride like Nehlen instilled. Good D and run game like we were known for. Thanks for the memories coach Nehlen
hate to say it, but I don’t think Brown will be able to recruit well enough for us to ever win a title I don’t think anyone could actually, players would rather ride the bench in the SEC these days than start at WVU
@timwilliams8047 I'm not a West Virginia fan but West Virginia beat number 4 Miami, number 11 Boston College and number 17 Louisville all 3 were top 25 teams. Also Boston college beat number 1 Notre Dame on the road.
@@JacksonPM23 No, it really doesn't. West Virginia had a decent team that year, but they would have been annihilated by Nebraska or Florida St. West Virginia could have put Tom Brady on the field, and it wouldn't have mattered. West Virginia simply didn't have the horses to play with best teams in the country that year.
Just thought I’d point this out. You have to win your bowl game, to complete an undefeated season. No school counts a 11-1 season as an undefeated season. Look up Bama, LSU, USC, Ohio St, Michigan, UF, FSU, Miami, Texas, etc, none of them count a season as undefeated in their record books if they lost their bowl game. Just thought I’d point that out.
You can try and justify it all you want but bowl games are part of the season and no other school counts a season where they lost their bowl game as an undefeated season. WVU has never finished a year with zero losses. Therefore they have never had an undefeated season. 1993 UF exposed how subpar WVU was anyway. If you cant even compete with #6 UF, you had no business thinking you should have played Nebraska or even FSU for the title.
Taken from Wikipedia: “For the second time in six seasons, West Virginia produced an undefeated, 11-win regular season in 1993”. I'll take their word over some guy from RUclips. Notice the words “regular season”. Bowl games are, and have always been, “post-season” games. I don't need to “justify” anything, because a regular season doesn't include bowl games, and it never has. If you want to count the bowl game and say WVU had an 11-1 YEAR, fine, but as far as REGULAR SEASONS go, they were undefeated and It's in the record books as such. You can hate on WVU, and you can argue that they aren't a national powerhouse team, but you can't change what is in the record books. “Undefeated regular season” is how it is worded and how it stands, period.
Taken from wikipedia?? Hahaha now I know what type of person I am speaking with. You and I can edit Wiki. That’s how the website works. Also thanks for clarifying my point. Little ole WVU has to state “undefeated regular season”. No other program claims that. They have undefeated seasons and they have seasons where they lost a game or more. No other program uses the term “regular”. Its like the annoying little brother wants to recognize the B+ they got. Nobody gives a crap if the season didnt end with 0 in the loss column. But congrats on your participation trophy. Good luck with that. Oh and one more thing. Hate on wvu? There isnt anything to hate on. Mediocre program.
We love our team, and that's what matters. Not going to waste my time with someone that doesn't know the difference between a regular season and post-season. I'll be happy and content here knowing we had the undefeated season, and you'll be there, busy screaming “BUT THE BOWL GAME!!” to anyone who will listen. Wonder who will have more peace of mind?
#6 UF exposed WVU in the Sugar Bowl. Thank God they weren’t the team playing for the natty against either Nebraska or FSU or they would have been blown out. #6 UF lost to FSU earlier so don’t point out anything useless
Unbelievable win. Didn’t think it was going to happen but they pulled it out.

I just met Mike Logan, who was a guest at Steelers training camp today. I hugged him. 1993 will be forever in our hearts.
That would be awesome to meet him, and or many players from this team. They were special.
He's a great guy, I've met him several times too. Even better person than player, and he was one of our best DB's of all time
Thanks for posting this. This was my junior year at WVU. Great season.
RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!
That draw play at 3:30. Classic Nehlen, at just the right time!

My brother and I were there as well. Best game either of us have ever seen.
@@gmiles119 cold fun - I got on- the field what a nice memory and undefeated regular season big east champs
Gary Danielson doing THIS game?
This game still makes me sick as a BC fan. 4 turnovers in WVA territory 😡
Who did they play in bowl game?
Florida 41 West Virginia 7
Awesome season! Unfortunately our offense this year was garbage
The referees robbed Boston College of at least 20 seconds when the clock didn't stop on that out-of-bounds play.
Great days at wvu
We got robbed that year. Then a year later we played Nebraska for the season kick off and Tommy Fraizer obliterated us lol..
I was at that game in New Jersey, it was horrible, although we did have a 91 yard punt.
You got stomped in the Sugar Bowl by the Gators anyway
Todd Sauerbrunn i think?
@@adambryan5088 Because no one gave a shit because they had to play in a non nattie bowl game and without their QB
Jack M be happy you didn’t have to play FSU or Nebraska that year then because it would’ve been worse
Undefeated? I thought you all lost to Florida that year?
That was in the bowl game. This was the game that gave us the undefeated regular season.
@@gmiles119 Ok. But the video doesn't say "regular" season; it just says season. And the bowl game counts as the 1993 season.
@@kevinandrewcline8402 The 1994 Sugar Bowl loss has nothing to do with West Virginia's undefeated season.

back in the days before droid minded world!!!!!!!!!!
When Boston College got the punt return deep in WVU territory, I quit watching this game. I am kind of embarrassed to say that.
It's to bad Jake was not healthy for the bowl game! That team had some players!
Wouldn't have mattered. Florida's offensive and defensive lines were on a whole different level than West Virginia's.
