    Erin, in 1978 my Mom had Nair on her legs and was walking into the kitchen to make some coffee. Our Persian cat ran across the living room and Buffy (our cat) ran head first into my Mom’s legs. Must be nice. I grew up with them, and didn't even have very obvious ones, I still hate them, and it annoys me now that everyone suddenly thinks they're cute. They're just sun damage; not cute.

    • @Call-me-Al
      @Call-me-Al 4 месяца назад

      @@CMStrawbridge They're more than just sun damage, they're a specific kind of sun damage that gives rise to a lot of positive stereotypes (which ironically was probably why they had a bad reputation when the snooty upperclass ideals was goals even for the lower classes).
      It's like a better looking and less dangerous version of tans, and is more obvious than tans on people of all colors but the absolutely darkest who wouldn't have a noticeable version of tans either because their skin is so beautifully intensely black thanks to melanism (the opposite of albinism).
      Plus artificial freckles are still very charming looking and can even be done in all sorts of unnatural colors, making it easy for even people with melanism to create higher contrast false freckles.
      I am really sorry you didn't get to like your freckles when you were young, but these days not only do kids with it get to have it much better than you had it when it comes to freckles, but like (nice, not neon orange) fake tans you don't have to rely on the sun anymore to get them back. You can just use henna or makeup, even.

    • @CMStrawbridge
      @CMStrawbridge 4 месяца назад

      @@Call-me-Al That's fucking stupid. They are NOT better looking than tans, and I also tan. I don't need freckles. They're also more likely to develop into melanoma, but you keep celebrating cancer scars for children 🙄 Artificial freckles are also dumb and they look it, too.

      Oh gosh I’m so so sorry this happened to you 😢 I suspect it’s way more common than the manufacturer of CoolSculpting advertises. I went to get a consultation on CoolSculpting but ended up getting a tummy tuck and lipo instead, idk something didn’t sit right with me. So many of these medical spa treatments are ineffective and/or dangerous. The hype cycle is so strong when they first come out, then a few years later they fall out of favor.

    I love this makeup look on you Erin! My grandmothers washed their face with buttermilk a few times a week to keep their skin looking radiant. I have to say that they did not have many age spots, if any in their old age. The Lactic Acid in buttermilk, milk, and yogurt, really is amazing for the skin, and they all make a wonderful home DIY facial mask. Lactic Acid is a gentle exfoliator and an amazing hydrator. Due to its larger molecular size, it is one of the safest exfoliators. This is from my experience as a medical aesthetician for over 16 yrs. ✌️💕

    I loved eyelash dye when I was young. I'm 72 now, God knows what I put on my eyes! My skin is wrecked from trying to tan when I just couldn't. I suffered from anorexia in my youth, my teeth shattered and my bones are slush, but I'm still alive...but not pretty 😢

    It's so fascinating to me as a 28 tear old how much I was taught to hate my freckles growing up but now people are embracing them and are getting tattooed on! Even as far as making them into shapes, constellations, fun colors, etc. I think it's so cool that people are finally on board with em since it's natural. I even started using a freckle pen recently to enhance what I have after I use foundation!

      I am surprised they were hated at all! I think even as a kid I found them very cute, and now I like adding it as a feature to drawings I make. Very hard to place a reason as to why I think its adorable but it just is 😆

    Love your videos! Your content is always so interesting to me. Vintage cosmetics and personal care products have always fascinated me, and it's amazing how much of a "Wild West" type of world it was before the 30s and 40s when governments really started to intervene, and even up until the 70s in some cases when they actually started to crack down on things.

      It’s funny because we had a “clean” cosmetics movement in the 30’s then again in the 70’s and certainly happening now. Beauty history always repeats 😊

      @@erinparsonsmakeup well, then I guess something good might come out of "clean beauty" movements, no matter how misguided it generally is....? Idk (insert witty joke here 🤷)

    Skipped the ad but only because I already own a kenzii, and I really love it. I used it a lot during lockdown and it really reduced how much hair grows even when I'm lazy and stop using it for a while lol. Got it in 2020

    Once upon a time I was so infatuated with this girl, I sat there and removed her leg hair with tweezers for hours during our movie night. Long story short, she strung me along and that's that. Now, years and years later I realized I was a simp before that word was even invented 😅
    I love this channel and I'm so excited for this new series ❤
