Steve 12:20 in on video when video cut talking about the 4 metal cups I failed to catch not to use all 4 metal cups and installed the ones on top. Will that cause an issue. I’ve only road to the end on my street and back so far? Was just watching video again because why not. lol. Thank you.
Hey Chris It wont hurt anything as long as you can still feel some play in the bars...if its super stiff because of the cups the you would need to remove them...the bushing just take some vibration out
I ended up using the Thrashin high bend bars and once tightened turned out ok. I saw RUclipsr @Kellybgliding with them on his and tried it. I was very skeptical during the install and tried to match up everything before I ran the wires and matched up all parts while sitting on the floor before I put them on the bike and the bars didn’t initially sit inside the bottom portion of the bar mount (didn’t cup all the way into the receiving surface), however once put on the bike and tighten the bars did seat down on the bottom bracket further and then allowed more clearance. Before totally installed and tightened down, it looked like the bars would have to be pushed all the way forward for some reason, I called and texted Kelly who sent several photo angles and I gained a small amount of confidence to just try it. the bottom clamp doesn’t allow the bars to be pushed down all the way until you start tightening. I used Thrashin Supply High Bend Handlebars Item: P400990 SKU: 1279959 I wanted to use the Arlen Ness bars to be 100% sure like Steve on the install but they didn’t offer the Arlen Ness bars in Chrome. I was totally blown and decided to try anyway and see what happens. I took the risk because Kelly B Gliding has made several videos riding with his. Do what is 100% sure and go with wider bars for more adjustment angles. So far it’s mounted and on bike. I will provide further feedback on my RUclips channel.
I started tearing down mine yesterday for this install. I am also replacing the lower tree, going w/ Arlen Ness's drop tree to raise my front end 2in. My plan is prepping everything to install the lower tree first, then upper, then work on risers and bars. I should just be able to follow along with your video here, except removing calipers, remove front wheel, remove the forks, then remove the entire triple tree and reinstall starting with lower tree. Does that sound up to par?
I recommend buying a tank cover or good moving blanket to cover the tank. Ask me how I know 🤦🏻♂️. Dropped the bracket from the lever on top of the tank and dented the hell out of it. HD is proud of that CVO mako shark fade tank. 2500 later it’s fixed. Btw Steve not saying you don’t normally cover them I’m just warning others lol. Costly mistake. I knew better but was in a hurry with head firmly up my own A$$. Great video sir.
aah yes sir...I usually always cover that tank...I got sloppy this time and thankfully I didn't drop anything ... I was so frustrated with the handlebars not fitting and having to pause the video for a week waiting on them and then the grips weren't up to my standards so another trip to HD...this install was aggravating, to say the least...but thank you for checking it out bro..much appreciated!
If we are not eliminating the ignition switch, I assume we don't need to flash? I am going to install the "Arlen Ness Method Ignition Switch Cover Kit" with this, and the description says it eliminates the need to relocate and works with the stock switch... Thoughts?
good solid engine...not my favorite, twin cams are but still solid..watch for a few issues like plastic intake shrinking and causing exhaust leaks, sumping issues and oil leaks ...but hell its a harley lol they all have issues at one point or another...they did line out some older issues now on the newer M8's like the plastic intake but thats only on the 2024 models

@@sikbaggersExcellent Sir. I appreciate it. Thank you
Still the best "how to" videos on you tube Steve 👍
Thank you sir and thank you for watching!
A walk through on T-bars on a batwing fairing bike would be Sik. I wanna do this to my Ultra.
If I get one in here to do I will shoot a video on it. Thanks for checking it out!
I had the same problem with the thrashing bars !! Had to go with Arlen ness bars ..
yeah it kinda sucks as they were a lot cheaper ....i like these bars too but just a little heavier on the wallet

Great Install as usual.
Thank you! Always glad to help!
The whole top tree ignition delete saves a ton of weight. & Hell those perch clamps weigh like a pound a piece lol
yes they do...the top tree is super heavy with everything attached to it

Yes it sounds like you are going in the right direction for sure...same as I would do it.
@@sikbaggers thank you 🤙 I’ve been debating a few days whether to order ceramic bearings before I put it all back together lol
TY Steve for your Videos 💯
thank you very much for watching!! Much appreciated!! 👐
Would I need extension cable for Street Glide?
great detailed video !

yes if you are installing that you will not need to flash to the switch...it will be just like stock, ignition on, flip switch to run and then start.
Hey, I know this is off subject, but could you give me your honest opinion of the Milwaukee 8 engine in the 2017 streetglide special?

@@sikbaggersthank you very much for the rapid response and info… it means alot!!!
@@crsddabc5568 anytime!
What if I didn't get it flashed before I started taking parts off the bike
well you will be trailering it to HD...once you remove the ignition switch and unplug it you have no way to get the bikes ignition on.
@@sikbaggers once it’s unplugged, can’t just plug it all back in?
@@sikbaggersnot possible to just plug the ignition back in?
If you’ve never made a garage bandaid are you even working on your bike?
hahah truth!! I just stopped buying band aids a long time ago..these hold up through out the day way better
