  • In her first ever fly tying step by step vlog IB ties her favourite grayling fly, the Flash Hare's Ear. A deadly nymph fished euro style, or underneath a suspension indicator, the flash hare's ear works in both coloured and clear water, and is a total grayling slayer! IB shows us what materials you need and how to tie a top, top pattern.

Great video. Really like the format it's nice to hear the instructions and then see them carried out, it's more like a fly tying lesson than the standard fly tying videos. It helps that Andy is a natural born teacher

Nicely presented - easy to follow instructions - I have just been tying some red and pink tags this afternoon in black and olive green for Euro nymphs - will give this a go for hares ear - A very nice looking pattern with an added bit of flash - Re I.B.'s question on the lureflash being single or double sided - I have some double sided Halo lureflash I use for Diawl Bach's / Cormorants - red on one side and green on the other - I can't remember where I got it from though - Boxes will soon be replenished - We just need the river levels to drop now - Tight Lines Both - Steve.

Really enjoyed that and you made it look easy. I keep meaning to start fly tying, but seams to be loads of materials that you need. I’ve been looking to see if anyone dose a fly tying pack, hooks, beads and materials etc to tie one type of fly. Might be an idea for you in the future to put something like that together in a pack, and do a tie along video for it. Just an idea. Keep up the good work👍🏼🎣

It is something we thought about Andy, but it'd mean managing so many trade accounts that it would be very tough.
I think if you asked most shops though they'd be able to provide just the materials for one fly/pattern.
What would you like to tie?

    • @andylamude3932

@@IBandAndyFishing I’ve not really thought of what flies to tie first. But I bet it’s really satisfying to catch a fish on a dry fly that you have tied

    • @fourwood8451

I would advise that you decide which flies you want to tie and buy those materials. You'll find kits have a lot of stuff you won't use and some really rubbish materials.

I been looking on youtube at videos for putting the dubbing on the thread, whip finish tool etc. I've not found any that i can get on with. I'm sure that you two could do a much better video then them, Just an idea. Keep the good videos coming

Be patient , practice , practice , practice , stick to the same patterns before you move on , it will come , it’s not easy , some make it look easy but they have years of experience , if you can , get instruction from someone sitting beside you sharing their knowledge , remember to practice and move on , it’s what we all do .
