- Evening drive around the main roads of Gangnam District in Seoul, South Korea. Poor Ferrari driver whose car looks like its stuck in the middle of the road I hope he/she gets it fixed! Video starts North of the Han River in the more historic part of Seoul, and continues South of the Han to the more modern and huge Gangnam district.

Crazy to think that back in the 1950's, South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world, now it's the embodiment of dedication, and effort.
this country has one of the highest suicide rate in the world, it means something is wrong in there

The US helped them to rise again and become a rich nation. In exchange, they ceded their territory for American bases and also as a strategic point to be used by the Americans against China and Russia.

Did you know that Tokyo has more skyscrapers over 100m tall than Seoul? There are 628 in Tokyo, 178 in Seoul, and 206 in Osaka. Seoul has fewer skyscrapers than not only Tokyo but also Osaka city😂

I can tell Seoul is a huge city. Look at those endless avenues.

I actually find the hilly landscapes, uphill neighborhoods so cool. You can get a natural vibe there while still living in the city. Seoul also has an interesting high rises composition, as most of the buildings are not supertall like you can find in US, Canada, etc. Still they look very nice.
Seoul has supertalls but they just kinda integrate them better. They don't look like a sore thumb sticking up to the sky like some do in other countries
@@redhidinghood9337 Yes. They have supertall buildings that integrate better. But many other cities in the world have definitely more number of supertall buildings. Seoul skyline is mostly dominated by packed medium to tall high rises. That's an unique thing.
you make it sound like the US has lots of "super tall buildings." I live in california and LA barely has many "super tall buildings" if any.
And I know because my work was in one of the tallest buidlings in LA downtown.

The population of Seoul is 26 million people in the metropolitan area, and it is amazing to see that there are not many traffic jams on weekends and there are not many people on sidewalk. in other countries, such large cities are excessively packed with traffic and crowds Everywhere .

I am Korean. In Seoul, if time stops at any point, there are more people underground than there are on the ground. There are 24 subway lines in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul, of which 18 pass through Seoul. However, traffic is so heavy that you have to drive 5 kilometer for an hour during rush hour on weekdays.

In winter time, Seoul looks like dark city. If you have a chance to go to Hongdae area, you can see lots of people there. Also, I recommend to drive BookAk skyway in autumn which is mountain road and one of the famous beautiful road in Seoul.

It unbelievable to accept that south Korea turned from extremely poor country in 1950 to among the richest in the world in just 70 years. Its really a miracle.
Korea was a civilized country in Northeast Asia for thousands of years before war and colonial rule. The early 20th century was really harsh for Korea.
You have to take into account that Korea was war torn when it was the poorest. Also, Korea had civilization for a very long time. So, just calling it rags to riches story doesn't do justice to Korea's history.
It‘s not a miracle. Germany did so too.

If you're still in Seoul, I recommend you to drive Olympic Highway(No. 88) or Gangbyeonbukro(No. 70) Highway along the Han River at night. You can enjoy night view with Han River while driving there. Seoul is departed by wide river crossing the center of the city. Main CBD area is in the north surrounded by hills. The district that could be seen above is in the south of river. its so weird to see that huge hill placed in the middle of downtown.

I am not a Seoul citizen, but I travel to and from Seoul once a month or two by express bus, and I am satisfied with the current city view of Seoul. I often travel under the ground of Seoul by using metro(subway), but when I get out of the stuffy ground and run on the boulevard on the ground of Seoul, I feel refreshed.
