Good morning, I don't often leave a comment but I do watch your channel and have been watching since almost the beginning. I enjoy your channel, the critters are cute, interesting, and fun. And your little girl has grown up before my eyes, such a pretty little girl. You are both doing a GREAT job bringing her up. I look forward to seeing your family continue moving forward and growing. FYY; my gran-daughter is 11 years old and enjoys watching your channel with me. Thank you for providing GOOD CLEAN family viewing, God bless you and yours
Nothing is better than a good family man with SKILLS. I have serious wood shed and barn envy. It is always so fun to see and hear how you are so kind to your animals. Your skills are impressive. I know you think you are a lucky man, but your wife is also blessed.
HELLO, from chihuahua mexico, thank you for the video and for the information about the coffee, I'm the one who asked you for the video of the making coffee, thank you and GOD bless you and your family.
I never thought I would love goats so much, but after watching your show for several months, I love 'em. I love their little hooves sound like tap shoes. They sure do have personalities!!!! Their little butts and tails are so cute as they run...makes me just laugh. They sure do love you.
We have been watching your videos for 3 1/2 years now. We decided some time back not to depend on the notifications. Every morning, except for Wed and Sundays, we have breakfast with you...LOL. Every morning at 8 am it's breakfast with Al & Gina! Thank you BOTH for all the videos you have shared. You always say to your viewers that they are a blessing but I must say YOUR Family is OUR BLESSING! LOL... I also have family members hooked on Lumnah Acres! God Bless you all!
You could build a single run out of pex from the tank strapped to the wall and out over the sink kinda like a faucet. Could even put a ball valve as the drop down/spout for more controlled flow while cleaning etc.Stay warm! The lights are awesome!
Love the sign your sister had made for you! You have a neat sister. Poor Olivia didn't care for the fish. She is such a pretty young lady. Love to your family.
We use large galvanized trash cans, I think I'm up to 8 or 10, in our garage. We can store 1 cord of wood in these and it usually lasts us a good two weeks. Our woodpile, covered by tarps, is about the same distance as your shed to the house. Yes, I have wood shed envy :) Love, love, love wood fired heat!
Your videos are my morning cup of coffee! (Can’t drink caffeine.) My day hasn’t officially started until I watch your latest video. You drink coffee like I drink wine! Enjoying all the flavors and aromas! You’re a coffee sommelier! Not snob. That goat sign is freakin’ adorable!!!
From Canada.if you put a light in your henhouse and you will get more eggs. We had an agricultural red warming lamp, and a low watt white light that did not penetrate the nesting boxes. The chickens had a choice. The ducks usually liked to be outside in the enclosed run, but on very sub zero nights they would get locked up too, as one harsh winter one duck got chilblains from freezing to the ice. She had to wear little boots of, yes, duct tape, covering medicated dressings, until she healed. Both ducks and chickens laid eggs consistently all winter. And the heat lamp kept the eggs from freezing
Look at all you have accomplished this year! The barn, the wood shed, boy goats and baby goats! WOW! I pray continued success and prosperity for you and your beautiful family! Shalom and Blessings from NE Missouri! Oh, by the way, where's your wood sled? Don't forget to bring that camo baby out so you can bring in wood by the sled full!
I bought my hose from Amazon. Regular looking short garden hose but drinkable. You can get them at big box. You got your electrical pipe to bend, maybe you could get the hose straight. Lights look nice. They are addicting. I try to get lights that have a replaceable battery. Batteries usually go before the rest. I guess depends on weather and corrosion.
Hello I saw on Stivers homestead that if you take a plastic water bottle and add about three tablespoons of salt and fill with water making sure lid is tight and put it in your water bucket the water won't freeze....just a hint for ya....
Good morning Lumnah family. Thank you for the whole corn suggestion, grabbed a 40lb bag at TS yesterday so we'll be trying that along with you. We have 13 hens, our "Bakers dozen ". RI isn't to bad weather wise yet. Barn water suggestion. My shop sink has an on demand pressure pump designed for bulk windshield washer fluid or antifreeze. Works like a dream.. Dave
Good morning Al, Gina and Olivia. The woodshed lighting is great. I think you may have to change out the low-flow faucet for a standard one, perhaps a spray rig like in the outdoor kitchen. Is Willow showing signs of being in season again, or did her second date take? With breeding 3 goats this winter, you are going to have an explosion of kids next year, potentially 9 new kids! It will be fun watching what happens. Have a good week.
Al, say NO to crack! LOL Always enjoy when a project comes together well. Those lights are just enough to see everything. I like it! God Bless you all.
You are correct about youtube right now. I have to keep hitting the notification bell over and over again on many channels I frequent. I have started bookmarking the channels I watch and check them daily now. I thought Gina was suppose to be parking "her car" under the new wood shed covering, lol? It is Soooo nice having the outdoor kitchen empty and available though. Poor Olivia, Her facial expressions when she tried the fish is priceless. Kudos to you Olivia for trying it anyway. Be Blessed and stay warm!
Just wondering: Do you supply gravel for the chicken's gizzard during the winter? With snow on the ground they cant forage gravel easy in a confined space, and whole corn needs a lot of grinding in their gizzard.
Solar lights look great. We have a big light with the sensor on the top. Ours never works when it gets cold. I may have to replace it with lights like yours. Which kind would you suggest for a light to be outside, since I don't have any way to cover the light. Thanks for your help. Have a Wonderful & Blessed Day!
Do the chickens need some fine gravel grit to help with the whole corn? How does caffeine impact your past struggles with anxiety? Have you considered making a firewood sled that you can load with firewood? You could load it up and push it to the house with the snow plow. I bet you have enough surplus wood to make one from the pallets the Jamaica kits came on.
On some faucets you can remove the water saver filter. We did this to a older one a few years back. I don't know if you can do this to the new ones. We found ours in the end of the faucet. Maybe this will help with the water flow.
I always try and convert people to mesh filters for coffee pots, or french press if they only want to make a small amount at a time instead of a huge pot that might be wasted. What most dont know is that the paper filter holds back nearly all of the oils and acids of whatever coffee they are brewing. Thats where the flavor is and they are missing out on the full experience. I have converted many coworkers over the years. My favorite blend is and will always be Starbucks Breakfast blend. I have tried other breakfast blens, but the uniqueness of Starbucks blend is what I favor. Havent found one to change me over. I still try other breakfast blends I havent tried yet when I come across them.
Also, you oughta get one of those extra wide spatulas made for fish filets lol. I got one at one point to help with pancakes...it was a fail, but worked really well on fish. But now I have no clue where it is...I think my parents snuck away with it cause they go fishing alot, and cook all of their catch when they can. Its all good if they did cause I rarely use it. Just wish they said something if they did tho lol.
LDS prepped put up a bank of solar. He's grid tied. He's got more than enough for his needs. The power company sends him a check instead of a bill. He's using it to pay off the loan. Glad your lights work so well. We all love Figaro. Thanks for the video.
You may find just buying or cutting up an old garden hose to a shorter length will give you the pressure you want and for the time being. Put a simple garden sprayer at the end and you're good to go. Or - Just runs PVC that you can connect/disconnect easily. Also, where is the link to the solar lights?
Al, you should put one of those solar lights up the buck goat barn because it always too dark in there. Did you run any electric into the milking room yet for light?
Love the little goat sign in their shed. The lights in the wood shed are a very good idea...no surprises when you reach in for some logs. Did you not get any eggs at all today or just forgot to film it. It's crazy how we get so used to something and feel sad when we don't get that piece. Have a Blessed day.
For the water short piece of garden hose with a nozzle on it. Ya might want to protect those solar panels from ice sliding off roof. It could rip those off I've seen gutters taken down from ice and snow slides. I'm sure you've seen it too. stay warm
Good morning Lumnah family. Sitting here enjoying my morning coffee watching the video as usual. Would love to do the coffee, but it is definitely out of my budget. Have to admit I am a heavy coffee drinker. Agree with you that I would also love to be able to have solar lights for the house. It is just too expensive. Happy to see you all are branching out and eating fish. Have a blessed day.
Good morning everyone! I’ll be curious to see how well the batteries retains their charge during cold weather; not to mention how well they’ll be recharged with fewer hours of available hours.
maybe a update on your shed light would be a good video... many of us just starting out would love more information on solar lights and if they worked or not... northern tool does not seem to have these lights and if they did work well I would love to be able to find them... love your channel
I started watching when you were laying cement and getting the post and beam delivered... Nice to see all the changes and think back to all you've got done. Still miss CWC.
Al you should look into a motion detector for the woodshed that will control all your lights so they’ll be not on all night long only when you go out to the shed to get wood , then the lights would come on , also how about a light for the tractor shed , maybe look into a solar heat lamp for New York City to put a little heat in there and maybe you’ll get more egg production ... how about solar heat lamp for the Green House gang . something else you might think about is putting a air vent from the barn into the milking room so it gets a little bit a heat to
I was out working on a snow blower in the yard thinking how warm it felt at 20 degrees. lol. We called what you have there a hobby farm when I was growing up. It was more work than the guys having 180 acres or more because my Uncle had old worn out equipment. We were always repairing and having to make parts that were no longer available.
Put a second shut off valve on the water line to use every time you want water. The big valve will ware out if you keep using it; they all do. That's why we have master shut offs, branch valves and faucets with valves...that need new washers every so often.
The lights are nice Al and Gina, great for when you need to get wood in the dark. The hose just doesn't like the cold weather you guy have. lol I hope you find something that works well in your cold. Your fish looks so yummy. But Olivia is not looking like she is a huge fan of it. lol Hopefully it will grow on her. I wish I could learn to love coffee, but at 60, I still haven't acquire a taste for it. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I feel like a weirdo. lol Glad you enjoy it Al,
Mr neather, mabe this channel violates one of You- Tubes screwed up new rules. Kid friendly doesnt include goat kids. lol. Just another day in the life of a hobby farmer. That's what we called them years ago. If you were not out working 180 acres or more of farmland, it was considered a hobby farm. My Uncle had one. Let me tell You, it was still back breaking work, mabe more so because he didnt have a lot of the modern equipment large farms had. Also, we had to constantly repair old worn out farm implements that always required parts no longer available. It was a challenge I can tell you that!
Debby Most I'm not getting notified either. Nor on several of the other channels I subscribe to. Besides adding and deleting stupid minor things, has RUclips decided notifications aren't necessary?
I don't need any more notifications. I just go to my list and watch the videos in the order they appeared in. Sometimes I'm late getting to them due to going to places where there's no internet access or cell phone signal like my Dad's (Lee's). We had a little bit of snow and our pipes froze last week. The snow is gone now and even our low temperatures for this coming week aren't below freezing level so no ice either. We tend only get an inch or two of rain at our location which either melts away or rain will wash it away. Standing water though which is common here will freeze when the temperatures are cold enough.
hello al good to see your next video you sead it was 20 dec f that is cold so much snow alyou donot take suger in your coffee al those new lights look grate very bright
I would put a salt block inside for the goats instead of top dressing. Most of it probably just falls away while they dig through the hay. Those bucks are cute as can be running up to the feeder!
@@augustreil It is, but I had to turn off/on for another channel. I noticed that someone just posted to also check the settings on the "bell". You need to set it to "all" as it may be set to "personal"! Thanks, RUclips! LOL :D
Automation is the key to make things efficient and yield maximum productivity. I like watching homesteaders that strive to make their homestead more efficient and that's what you are doing. Work smart and not hard.
Speaking of a whole house solar system, In one article I once read in "Mother Earth News" Magazine about a family who had bought an old farm, they gradually bought solar panels every couple years or so until they had enough panels to power their whole house. Then they bought some more solar panels to power both their small workshop and barn. If I remember correctly, they initially bought 4 panels and some batteries as a back up system to mainly power refrigerator/freezer, a few lights and well pump when grid power went out. They had also bought a small generator to both help with the power until they had enough panels to go full solar and to power some tools. They had a fireplace or Wood stove along with oil boiler for heat. Eventually they added an outdoor wood boiler and stopped using the oil boiler alone for heat, they use it only when it gets really really cold and for hot water. But at the time of the article they were working on getting a solar water heater to eventually do away with the oil boiler. There are companies that will install whole house solar panels where you do NOT have to pay the whole cost upfront and pay nothing down. You pay a monthly payment and you own the equipment and if anything goes wrong it they will fix it. I saw an advertisement for one the other day and I saw a company mentioned on "This Old House" TV show and "Ask This Old House" TV show. I do not remember the name of the company.
Did you check the operating temp specs on those lights? If they have batteries in them they are gonna have problems with the cold weather. They might still work but will be drastically reduced in power. Most rechargeable batteries won't even charge if it's to cold. They might use a kind of capacitor instead of batteries if so they should work ok.

I've been watching your channel for a year now. Cant believe it went so fast. I learned so much from you. Thank you Lumnahs! Love watching ❤
It's good that you put those lights up. Now you'll be able to see the skunk sitting on top of the woodpile just before he sprays!
A skunk in the wood pile wouldNOT be fun! Lol

Hey Al, do you think that maybe you could use a small pond pump to operate your water system?
Maybe an RV pump would be better
A couple sheetmetal crickets on the roof would be a great idea to protect the panels when the snow starts curling off the roof. . .
I can't find the link to your solar wood shed lights.
Google northern tools. They have an online catalog.
hello al good to see your next video you sead it was 20 dec f that is cold so much snow alyou donot take suger in your coffee al those new lights look grate very bright
Good Morning 🌞 😃
Nice lights.😎
Where is your sleigh for hauling hay and firewood?🤔
I would put a salt block inside for the goats instead of top dressing. Most of it probably just falls away while they dig through the hay. Those bucks are cute as can be running up to the feeder!
I never get notified I just look for you every day
Same here.
Someone on here once mentioned if you first turn off, then turn back on your notifications, it may reset it! Hope that works! :D
Is your bell been activated ?
@@augustreil It is, but I had to turn off/on for another channel. I noticed that someone just posted to also check the settings on the "bell". You need to set it to "all" as it may be set to "personal"! Thanks, RUclips! LOL :D
@@robine916, Yup, forgot about the "ALL" setting. Thanks.
I find myself thinking about the song you always attach to your video and whistle as I'm doing dishes. lol
Where did the water drain out to in the new sink in the barn?
Automation is the key to make things efficient and yield maximum productivity. I like watching homesteaders that strive to make their homestead more efficient and that's what you are doing. Work smart and not hard.
Is my vision failing? Can't find that Northern Tools link.
Nor can I. Maybe we are both going blind?
Link not there but this should get you there www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/category_lighting+solar-lighting
@@tonygrimes13 Sadly the pendant ones they installed in the wood shed aren't shown
Speaking of a whole house solar system, In one article I once read in "Mother Earth News" Magazine about a family who had bought an old farm, they gradually bought solar panels every couple years or so until they had enough panels to power their whole house.
Amazing on the lights. Are you going to put Willow back with the male goat? Keep videos coming cause I need a fix of Iumnah acre.
God Bless
