hi Roy , Yes its so handy to be able to work on both sides by just lifting out the back scene. I also have an alternative so i can change it to be more industrial, Geoff
Cracking update Geoff. Enjoyed the running sessions. I'd make sure any buildings you put in the road area don't block the views from a filming perspective. For the section beside the road ramp I'd be inclined to have green scenics rather than anything in bricks and mortar. At the end of the day it's your layout so I'm sure whatever you decide to do it'll be fine. P.s. nice ceiling lights lol cheers Euan
thanks Euan , i think the Lights have got the most feedback lol . the Wife has suggested an allotment after watching my video - Perhaps we should talk more lol Geoff
Hi Geoff. I did watch Charlie Bishop's video on track cleaning - he's always good for a laugh. Nice comeback with the dishwasher line. You made quite a few references to how expensive your HST-P model was, but didn't mention how much you paid and where you purchased the items. I don't believe that it contravenes any YT protocols to give your viewers this information and, I for one, would like to hear this in a video. Outtakes: I love this idea! The Gimbal is dead, long live the Gimbal. Uncoupling: the lone power car did make me smile. Keep up the good work!
hi Paul , thanks for the feedback . the HST-P is only available from Dapol directly www.dapol.co.uk/shop/preorder/N-Gauge-Preorder/HSTP_Preorder if you ring them they do have some available- not shown on their web shop price is £150 just for the 2 power cars £120 for the pack of 4 Coaches £50 for 2 buffet coaches you know "it never goes wrong until to you press recorded" which I'm thing of having now written on the wall Geoff
good review of the hst-p... my got loco and dummy got change 3 times due to the dummy dragging .... did dapol pus this out to quick .. yes. fab layout, I love your "real" actions eg: derailment and the hand of God... every youtube vid takes those out .. thanks for making it real !!
thanks Dave for comments - yes perhaps they did rerelease the model to quickly but you would expect better . I will try to add the out takes more often
hi Michael . thankyou for your kind words . as you know always loads todo . very much enjoying your videos as well . I've a few to catch up with , Geoff
Hi Geoff. Dapol lost its supplier for its light bars about 18 months ago. I asked them at the time and they had no idea when they will get a new supplier. Take a look at video 70 on my channel when I show the tramfabriek light bars. The HST-P looks a good model but it is disappointing that you had the problems. Quality control does see to be a problem. Enjoyed the variety in this update. Stephen
Thanks Stephen, Arh I didn't know that about the light bars. I'm still surprised Dapol have not got an alternative solution from China . i would expect a good profit margin . I have a few of the tramfabriek light bars which are good as they have the stay alive feature which Dapol dont have ( currently). I'll go back and watch your video on them . it might be me but Ive had many issues with new stock . my class 70 and class 67 had to go back. my Pendo also had to go back to Revolution for new gears . at least I could fix all the HST-p issues lol Geoff
Hi Geoff plenty of varied content in this update, like you I like the departmental liveried rolling stock, you have an impressive collection of them. And the outtakes show we all bad days mate.
thanks Steve , it seemed to be the same Mk2 carriage that kept derailing. I checked the back to back and all is well . might add some weight to it . fingers crossed. still not sure why the camera Gimbal kept turning off . was funny to see the phone start to tract the ceiling. Geoff
Hi Geoff, great minds think alike mate. Likewise I am using the back of a UPVC soffit boards all the way round my layout to stick my backscene to, not sure about lifting it out at this stage though. Means I can get a huge 8' curve at one end of the layout, just got to decide what backscenes to put on. Regards Chris
I'm sure we can keep thinking up ideas for the Soffit board . yes I struggled to find the one i wanted but was lucky to find that one of ID backscenes and was so lucky that it just fitted where i wanted . wish I had now done the sides as well - perhaps another day
Great update Geoff and nice work on the back-scenes - looks very smart. Really impressed with the signalling & platform lighting - what have you used? You've convinced me to ditch my bright white lights as your warm white platform lights look so much better............All the best, Andy
Hi Andy , thanks for those kind words , ive used CR signalling Kits which I made ( more on those in the next video ) . Platform lighting come from layouts4u www.layouts4u.net/n-scale-lighting/n-scale-lampposts-and-yard-lights/616n-pack-of-4 . Geoff
Hi, I’m new to model railway and I agree regarding the couplings they have issues even on a kato track they would release at all speeds too very frustrating for a newbie like me. I even changed them to the small couplings thinking a tighter rake would help on the radius. I also adjusted the boggies which helped but I broke one of the ladders on the carriages this was caused by me not understanding and having King Kong fingers on n scale. I’ve subscribed after stumbling on your review and great layout and quality content 👍
Nice update Geoff, I’d be tempted to put in something like a timber merchants and as Euan said some greenery at the road ramp end. Really enjoyed the running sequences and the bloopers at the end too! Had a reply from Stuart after your introduction, thanks very much for that Geoff, cheers for now mate, John
No problem John . hope to see you soon when things are better . the Wife has suggested an allotment after watching my video - Perhaps we should talk more lol Geoff
Hello, Geoff! Great video; lots of content and cool bits. I love the HST-P, despite the coupler issues. Very sharp train. The layout itself is looking good, but I would have no clue of what looks appropriate, especially near the road/ramp area. I feel like it could use some green, maybe an off-road bike and hiking path. Anyhow, the automation and lights are fantastic. Keep up the excellent work! Cheers!
Great update Geoff and congratulations on your new addition 😍 Shame Dapol couplings are so dodgy, I have replaced all of mine with Hunt’s now and am much happier 😁 Must say you have convinced me to give I Train a go and I spent the weekend watching some excellent tutorials by Bob Fuller 😉 Very best wishes from County Wicklow ☘️
Thanks Paul , that reminds me I did buy some hunt couplings and i've not used them yet Doh . was going to put them on the old HST . yes the Bob Fuller video are good . I'm watching them as well to double check what I have is correct and sing alternative ways of doing things . stay safe Geoff
Great video. I like how you have set up your backscene to be removable. Will have to watch that again. Thanks for sharing. Roy.
