As a 41 year old man from Portugal that loves Rock, Metal, Punk and Hip-Hop (among other genres) i'm glad i was able to "discover" Drum n Bass when i was 18! There's just something really special about it🤘❤🤟
Back in '94 I used to frequent a local record store that became a hub of jungle and emerging DnB. An average person just walking past the window would likely see a dozen or so of us dancing like this around the store - absolute carnage.

DnB is just something else you don't even need drugs for this the music is the drug!!
When i was younger i used to do drugs and drink alcohol. Nowadays at 41 i still have something like 4 or 5 weekends per year were i smoke weed and drink to my heart's contempt on some special occasions (and i still drink beers with my friends on the weekend after our Saturday 5x5 futsal matches), but most of my life is spent sober and, thankfully, Drum n Bass is still the majority on my headphones when i'm cycling to work! 0% regrets about it!🤘❤🤟
