Sorry, a year late but I rewatched the video so..
He makes note of “I’ve always been able to tell your face..” I think it was a test to see if Black Noir would crack, which he didn’t, so then he just straight up asks him, did he know, and if he said no AND passed the lie detector test, I think HL would’ve spared him. Albeit, he’d probably keep a much closer eye on Noir and wouldn’t trust him anymore; but HL *tries* to be logical/justified when it comes to killing those close to him or might be important later.

This is one of those scenes where it really emphasizes just how scary Homelander is. I know what's gonna happen, I've seen this 100 times but once the music starts playing at 2:00 and he goes around Noir, cornering him, you realize dude is just a live wire at all times. He will start a conversation so calm, even warm, but over a minute or 2, he slowly just becomes scarier and scarier and you're just like "what is he about to do..." Especially in this scene because this is your ally. Soldier Boy is here to kill you, and he simply cannot take Homelander vs Noir, I don't even think The Boys all together could have taken them both at once, but instead he fucking punches his own ally through his fucking gut on a whim. Then you think of it from Noir's angle, cause you know he's standing there thinking, "do I engage and attack him first? This is my ally? Can I even beat him? What is he about to do? Why is he asking these questions?" On top of thinking about how he is gonna kill Soldier Boy. No joke I've never been one to be afraid of a character in a movie... But Homelander puts fear into my heart like no character has ever put fear into my heart. He's all powerful and liable to do literally anything on a whim because there either ISNT any consequences, or he doesn't THINK there's consequences. He's all powerful and free to do whatever he wants at any moment.

Not only did he not get a chance to take out Soldier Boy, but he was killed in one shot by Soldier Boy’s son because he didn’t tell Homelander who Soldier Boy was. But then, that soft music starts playing, and that little beaver says, “Don’t worry, Erving.
