All your videos have been crucial to my beginner understanding of freecad, especially the datums and shapebinders. Thank-you for taking the trouble to produce some in english but I learn from them all. Great work, much appreciated. Cheers!

Thank you so much for helping us get over the learning curve! It is greatly appreciated! I am finally out of the "you suck" zone almost to the "OK" zone thanks to you and several others who have shared their knowledge of Freecad. Thank you again.

Final part differs from requested one. It is thinner around the hole.

I believe this can also done using sketch mode. Draw a staircase shape. Switch to part design mode and extrude it. Create another sketch on top of it to draw a circle, pocket it in order to create a hole. Done.

Thanks for that, very straight forward as you said. Reminded my slightly of the openscad method of design. I don't know if its possible in the windows version of freecad ( I assume it is) but I find I can just select the object I want to generate a stl file for and go straight to file -> export and select "mesh stl" from the drop down menu. This seems to give me a mesh I can pull into slicers such as cura.

I know taht it is possible that way too. But , going thru mesh workbench makes it more surely that one has the proper mesh settings. Often, standard settings are not Standard mesh and give not good results. FreeCAD often has more thatn one way to do something.

@@hagei406 Ah good to know, I have not been using freecad that long and your tutorials have greatly improved my understanding. On a completely separate note, I was trying to design a hole through an object that required a countersink for a wood screw and could not work out how to do it. Would appreciate you comments on this or even better perhaps a short video ( wink )

@@cajone7591 Ok, Forgot to mention , OpenSCAD and Part Workbench both are CSG based and more or less use the same base. If you want to design a countersink bore in part workbench , you can easily take a short cylinder , an concentric longer but thinner cylinder , fusion them and just subtract them , after inserting in the other object , same as seen here. When it comes to be bit more difficult is when you want to position objects in part wb. But that will be subject of a later video.
I have to design another piece for the printers front door , maybe i make another video on that and go a little deeper into part WB.

Hi! Thank you for lot of good tutorials of freecad. But in this video I looked interesting thing: you using kisslicer. Can you make a video about this slicer? Very interesting your's styles and support setting.
    Thank you and best regards.

I was already thinking of this. I came to Kiss after beeing somewhat disappointed with all these other Slicers. For me Kiss is the ultimate slicer now. Unfortunately it´s a little stuck with development and i don´t like to promote a tools..as good as it may be .. where i do not know if it has a future. I am active in the Kiss Forum and i monitor what goes on. When i see it makes sense. i will surely make videos about it. There is not much around , only one guy made a few, but seemingly lost interest in continuing.

I’m learning freeCad and this video helped a lot, but I have an issue on Arch workbench, after creating the walls when I place a door or window, the whole thing freezes up and crashes, every single time. I’m on 0.18 btw. Any suggestions will be nice.

Do your eyes ever go buggy and you see the part inside out? That was happening to me with this part. BTW Gesture rhymes with jester. The G is more of a J sound. It isn't guessture. Though it looks like it would be. You're probably speaking English and not American though. All of you Europeans have funny accents. Being American I can barely understand English. It's a handicap we suffer from.

Yes, such happens to me too.. and sorry i will try to remember the J ..

@@hagei406 your English is a lot better than my German is. I think all I can say in German is hello. Or what's up? Now that I'm thinking about it I don't really know what wie ghets actually means. Google says it means how are you? OK I don't think I was ever meant to learn German. Because my German teacher in school was a Playboy centerfold model. So I was kind of sabotaged at the outset. What was that broad's name? I can't remember now. I do remember some other things about her today still. It's funny what actually sticks in the mind. In her case it wasn't any German, that's for sure!
