Oh my, I'm happy you didn't buy the sand and get right to it. It definitely has to be dry. Molten metal doesn't work well with wet sand and is very dangerous
I use greensand, but not for lost foam casting. Interesting you've used it for lost foam casting. Because greensand is meant to be compacted it indented the foam and malformed it.
I didn't expect to see the need to screen the sand but then i just learned the sand needed to be absolutely moisture free. Good video!
Yeah bro, you definitely meant to sift out the stones from the sand. You'd probably never think there would be stones in a bag of sand. 👍👍
Wow, your videos are helpful, was about to do casting next Sunday.the plan was to buy the bag Sunday morning 😂😅😂

This is interesting
I will be drying some sand soon
Super easy 👍👍👍
The best sand to use is something called greensand. We used it for casting large aluminum parts and smaller steel parts using lost foam techniques.

I have had 4 bags for more than a year...lol
I got to get my butt back to working the furnace again. Time to get some stuff melted down.
haha 4 bags? You better get drying it out. lol, left in the bag i'm sure it's still soaked.
Get Melting!!!
If your floors are sealed then you could put the sand on cardboard boxes to wick the moisture out
Sure that would work. Might take longer. Also just use the sun 🤣
We don't have wet play sand at HD or lowes here in the Arizona desert. It's dry 10 minutes after a rain😂
Lol yeah just get the sand from the desert 🤣🤣🤣
great knowledge !!!
Thanks buddy! Definitely pretty easy to dry out the sand with no sun
