Just finished the two seasons and its an absolute shame it got cancelled. Please give us season 3. This is one of the best neo-western shows out there!
Longmire was mostly cast correctly except for Lou Diamond Phillips as Dancing Bear (even though he did a fine job, he just doesn't measure up to the character in the books). Pickett is a bumbling Barney Fife and Nate is a skinny black guy: just like we all envisioned; right?
I loved this actor, Michael Dorman, in Patriot!! That was a great series and I thought the flawed main character was portrayed to a T. It looks like he's doing it again as Joe Pickett. My wife and I randomly ran to Michael Dorman in Paris while he was filming Patriot!! We interrupted him while he was eating in a small restaurant. We were not aware who he was at the time and he very graciously explained the show, who was in it and couldn't have been a nicer person!! I wish him much success in this new series!!
Yea Patriot was great. Also was hard to access that show from Europe... why are fucking garbage shows so easy to find and access but quality content is purposely hidden, wtf. I cant even pay for Joe Pickett from europe. Fuck
I just stumbled on this show. My husband and I love it and cannot wait for the second season. We watch this show along with Yellowstone and Tulsa King. Great shows!!!
I have read these books and listen to them several times they are that good. I really wish they would have kept Nate Romanowski as a blond hair hawk nosed blue eye beast that he is in the book. Amazon finally finally got Jack Reacher right. no more 5' 6" Tom Cruise playing a 6' 5" Jack Reacher. Joe Picket the best book series ever and CJ Box is a Beast of a story teller.
@Durango DeCarlo I listened to an interview with the dude portraying Joe Picket and he basically said he was scared of guns or didn't like guns like Joe Picket. I think this dude that's playing Joe has never read a Picket novel.
What is it about? I keep seeing that commercial where he’s singing that song. It sounds interesting like a Hatfields and McCoys kinda thing. Is that what it is? Because id watch that the series with Kevin Costner on the History Channel was dam good movie good if this is anything like that I’m in.
@@renderuntocaesarwhatiscaes2300 Joe Picket is a Wyoming game warden and finds himself in the middle of all kinds of shady dealings. For me it's awesome because I live in Wyoming and everywhere Joe's goes I have been there
Movie or tv based on books has to be difficult. My internal visual of Joe Pickett is someone like Ed Harris. Strong but pleasant face, quiet presence, competence & respect oozing from his pores. Nate? His character is so well drawn that the portrayal must be spot on. But each reader develops their own visualization. Tough stuff. BUT, after getting roped in to Yellowstone season after season I see that “Joe Pickett” can be well done with the right actors. Doesn’t need to be A list actors (maybe the Governor...) but mainly well chosen actors. It’s sure to be a hit!
I watched several episodes of the Pickett series on Spectrum. Boy, did they fuck up. *) Nate Romanowski is played by a black guy. (Would you think Romanowski is an African American name?) *) The X-game warden is played by a black guy. (How many black game wardens do you think live in Wyoming?) *) There is a gay guy sitting and knitting in the local coffee shop. (How many coffee shops would you have to visit in Wyoming before you found a gay guy sitting around taking up table space in a local rural coffee shop?) *) Joe Pickett wears a silver belly Stetson hat that is turned up all around the edges instead of a flat green hat like you would expect. *) Joe Picket is troubled by some event in his pass . . . gives him bad dreams . . . comes across as a woke wimp. *) The actors are over the top overacting . . . the deputy . . . the bad guy . . . not at all like what you would expect in real life. *) The scenery is good, but most of the filming of Saddlestring is done in Jackson Hole, and Jackson Hole is to Wyoming as Key West is to Florida, if you know what I mean. The show is about the book where a black ferret gets in Joe Pickett's woodpile. The show is an insult to all fans of Chuck Box's books.

An audience of more than 1 million households tuned in for season 1. The series, produced by Paramount Television Studios, will also launch on Paramount+ at a later date.

Watching this show Joe Pickett - of which there are about 20 books or so and I have read them all. What's strange about this show is its setting just north of Jackson Hole, Wyoming where coincidently I have spent a lot of time. Now I am Native and have nothing against Blacks one way or the other but this TV show has just about as many Blacks as whites in a place where a Black man just is not part of the landscape. I am however a stickler for accuracy and this rubs me just the wrong way. In the books, Nate Romanowski is a light-haired white man who makes the story come alive. in the show they portray him as a Black Man. Wonder who thought this genius idea up and had the guts to portray a people who are not common to the area. We're not all stupid! Even more strange in a state that has its share of Reservations, I have yet to see a Native person on the show.

IMO people overpraise the plot twists here. maybe i have seen to many series but the bad guys were pretty obvious by the way they were implemented and the tipps we got. they even missed out on the black survival guy coming back secretly and helping him out from behind the scenes but i guess thats to keep for next season. felt kinda anticlimactic the whole ending. survival guy didnt show up and JOE who was supposed to use his anger still was quite the pushover to the end. also makes no sense for them to act like it was over. they both know the rich family was involved, the police is involved, etc. but they sit down in the garden as if it was the savest place ever.
oh and apparently compared to the book reference we also got quite some color swapped characters again. woke agenda and all. good thing i didnt know the book so that didnt disturb me though.
I can already tell you ruined it. Quit taking amazing stories and changing them around to make them suck. I hope you all apologized to mr. Box Do yourselves a favor and read the books. Don't pander to the people who keep destroying the things we love. Come up with your own ideas for once.
I enjoyed the books. And I enjoy the scenery in the show. But TV Joe Pickett is a dense game warden! Reminiscent of a Hollywood writer being alone in the wild trying to enforce game laws. Not the actor’s fault that the writers are ignorant!
I really wanted to like the series but didn’t make it through E3 before giving up on this laughable stinker. The screenplay’s so ridiculously lame and poorly written you have to wonder if maybe it was sourced from 15 year old screenwriters the producer found in San Francisco or NYC. A single word, “Stereotypes”, best describes the embarrassingly poor casting, acting, directing, and production. From the awful generic “ignorant white person” southern accents & dialects spoken by too many of the characters, to the neglectful absence of any pre-production research on any topic associated with the script ranging from firearms, law enforcement, game wardens, or actual people or culture in rural Montana/Wyoming, there’s not a shred of authenticity or attention to detail attempted. None! “Joe Pickett” is really that bad. What a waste of potential.
Excellent comment. The imbecilic Joe Pickett in this series releases the only survivor of an endangered species of weasel with three cubs in the wild just to please his daughter. It happened just after he found a weasel in the belly of a dead fox... Any decent warden would take the weasel and cubs to some university or zoo where they would reproduce, be taken care of , studied. Until there was a reasonable number of weasels and then, only then, release most of them in the wild. And to think that the book starts every part with excerpts from the legislation about endangered species.
Barely into season 2; IDK if I can stick with it. season 1 was a nice surprise. But they lost me with the animal killings. I'm not squeamish, but this is too grim for me. Kill the people, not the animals

This looks a really low budget show with bad acting, all these positive comments makes me give it a chance
New Zealander playing Pickett from Wyoming. Sorry. I will pass. I see where this is headed in a hurry.
I can already tell you ruined it. Quit taking amazing stories and changing them around to make them suck. I hope you all apologized to mr. Box Do yourselves a favor and read the books. Don't pander to the people who keep destroying the things we love. Come up with your own ideas for once.
Oh gross, I'd have to subscribe to comcast if I wanted to watch this.
Excellent comment. I posted a longer reply but it seems they deleted it?
Nah, I'll pass
Good actor for Joe, but ridiculous costume. That hat is absolutely wrong.. Joe would be dressed more like Jeremy Renner in Wind River.
i actually thought of Joe Pickett when I saw Wind River...thought renners character was loosely based on Pickett
Whoever wrote this show needs to be fired
Royally F'd up. And with intent. Shouldn't surprise me. Spectrun sucks!
Barely into season 2; IDK if I can stick with it. season 1 was a nice surprise. But they lost me with the animal killings. I'm not squeamish, but this is too grim for me. Kill the people, not the animals
Nate is not black. Why does woke America have to ruin everything? I'll stick with the books. What a joke
