Thank you so much for the links, Christine. I appreciate and enjoy your videos all the way from Washington state, USA
I don't really know if my hobby is collecting fabric or sewing. I'm afraid I'll never sew as fast as I buy new fabric. 😖Batch sewing is the only way to keep the piles from growing higher and higher and your videos are very helpful in making it more effective and finding inspiration. You are a brilliant teacher.
Thank you, Christine.
HOW DOES THIS CHANNEL NOT HAVE OVER 1 MIL SUBCRIBERS????
Thank you for taking the time to share your talent & knowledge! My mother's best friend taught me to sew 45 years ago. I honor her, as well as every other person who took the time to teach me things, by teaching others how to sew, crochet, knit, quilt, etc. It's a blessing to share our knowledge with others! For as much as I think I'm skilled at sewing, I've learned lots of new tips and tricks watching your videos. Your explanations are clear, easy to follow, and simply brilliant in saving time! Thank you!
What a lovely thing to say Felicia. Now where are those million subscribers!🤔Thank you so much😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Keep on putting out quality content, and those subscribers will head your way!
Oh my gosh, that last bag with all the offcuts! I gasped out loud! How gorgeous. ❤
Shari Lewis, oh my I loved watching her as a child. She, made a second try when my daughter was little and she adored the show so much she slept with a lamb. 😅❤ What it really was, is the stuffed animal used to sell fabric softener sheets! It looked close enough. So much so, my daughter caught me tossing it in the dryer. Oh dear, the scream could have broken glass. I wasn't sure what the problem was at first. I had to come up with some quick thinking that day! But, all was right with the world by nap time, with a clean fresh lamb to cuddle with. ❤😊 We just moved a few weeks ago, and guess who I found? All safe and sound was lamb chop. It's a small world 😊
What a lovely and funny memory Sharon. Thanks for sharing😀
I KNEW THERE WAS A GREAT REASON WHY I AM WATCHING THIS VIDEO! I TOO HAVE LEFT OVER BOXED PIECES FROM BAGS I CREATED. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM! THANK YOU SWEETIE FOR THIS MARVELOUS VIDEO!
I love these boxed bags. My son asked for a duffle, I keep thinking a really big boxed bag with outside pouches and maybe one inside will work great. I measured an old duffle , and I’m gonna try it! Thanks again Christine your bags are amazing!!
Thanks Trenna. I'm actually just about to go cut some fabric for a duffle style bag today. It's been on my list for ages😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs oh yay!, I can’t wait to see how wonderful yours turns out.
I love how you explained your “rate” per hour and what all is included in that. And sewing in bulk can be a bit tedious, but for me, having worked in a sewing factory, when I can focus on one task at a time, I can finish that task faster. I have not made your bags in bulk, but that is my plan for the future. Still in the process of getting everything set up. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you so much for your videos! ❤❤
Thank you Barbara. Although a bit tedious at times, I just love the batch sewing process😀
Just found this this afternoon, July 8th, here in the US! All I can say is this is a fabulous video and so full of wonderful ideas. I especially appreciated you showing us how you price your bags. The bags are all beautiful, so it was difficult to say which is my favorite. The large, scrappy bag if beautiful!!!! I will be watching out for you from now on. Thank you so much!!
I love each and every video. I also watch your batch sewing bc I love saving time and thats important! Thank you so much for all of your videos. You are very encouraging! You are famous and much appreciated in the sewing world!
Thanks so much DC😀
I love it when you explain your thought process. I remember Shari Lewis and all her puppets. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome Cynthia. I used to love Shari and her show😁
💚 LOVE THE BOXED CORNER WASTE BAG!!!!
You have just completed an amazing marathon. Well done. Wish I lived closer so I could buy one the bigger size.
Thanks Carol. I'm glad they're finally done.😁
Extremely informative, Christine, thanks! I found your explanations and thinking very clear and sensible (and ethical, which was delightful). 👌
Hi Christine, glad to find another Aussie Channel :) I just started up my sewing machine and overlocker 2 days ago and started making some tote bags, I think you just gave me some more idea's . Keep up the good work your doing :)
You are an amazing person, amazingly talented, amazingly organized, and have a wonderful business sense. I really like watching your thought process. What a fantastic job you did.
Wow, thank you Debbie. I think this community has helped me tremendously😁
Thank you for showing your work. They all came out beautifully.
Thanks so much Ana😊
Really did enjoy this video. Your so prolific. I think my kids are getting sick of all the projects I make for them. But if some does something nice for me I always give them something I've made..Thanks Christine for your encouragement. 😊
Thanks Janet. I'm getting quite a pile of things here that I haven't given away yet. I'll put them out at Christmas and let everyone rummage through😁
Totally off target comment, but had to post this; several years ago my husband & I spent a bit over a week exploring the south island (I’m assuming you may be in NZ because your accent is just like a dear friend’s, although she lives in Melbourne now). Anyway! After our road trip we flew up to Auckland and got on a cruise that was going to circumvent NZ and end up in Sydney. On our first port. - Tauranga - we took a trip to see the Hobbits. I took a tumble and broke every bone in my right ankle. I then spent a week+ in the hospital there, and once the swelling went down enough, they put a plate and many screws in my ankle. The doctor/surgeon (who was absolutely fabulous) would not give me permission to fly back to the states until the stitches were out. When it was finally OK for me to travel again, the discharge instructions mandated that I fly first/business class & have someone with me (my husband, of course!). So. Business class on Air New Zealand from Auckland to Los Angeles, and first class back to NY. The best part is that the whole adventure was almost free due to NZ’s health plan. I am beyond grateful for that!! All this to say I have sympathy for your son on the couch! I hope he mends quickly 😊 And thank you for your videos - they are always inspirational!
Christine is Australian - she lives in the state of Victoria
@@rebeccar7837 thank you!
Yep, I'm an Aussie. I did live in Auckaland for a short while back in the 1980's😁
NZer here. Aussie, accent is slightly different from NZ.

I love your one of a kind bag made with the boxed corner fabric. It is beautiful and definitely unique. It will catch the eye of someone. ❤ Who knew there would be enough to make a good sized tote!
Thanks Sharon. I really enjoyed making that bag too😀
I am SO happy, Christine. I found one of the videos right after I wrote to you, but with the two of them, I learned what I wanted to + more...... so, so happy! I was beginning to think, that I was too old to learn and understand new things, but with 2 videos of yours, I understood it all 😊😀
That's so wonderful Berit. Thank you. We're never too old to learn or understand new things. We get better with age😁
Love your channel and your style! Retirement has reduced my spending, but it hasn't changed my style! Because I chose H Q D UPS ha! Thank you for another great video!!
Sharon wasn't it? It just goes on and on my friend!
The bags are lovely -- even the ones you dislike :) My very favourite is the one that uses up all the "boxed corners". I love the colours bordered with the black -- it is a stunning bag! I suspect it will sell very quickly!
Thanks karen. That's my favourite too😁
Thanks 4 sharing your journey in making these bags. Love your videos and when you explain your thought processes!
You are so welcome Lisa. Thank you😁
So interesting! Thank you for your sharing your pricing process.
I love these!!!
Loved it.....again!
Thanks Patricia😁
Love the scrapy bag!!!
Thank you Juanita😁
Matching pouches with larger bags..beautiful...well done, Christine ❤
Thanks Melahat😁
Thank you for your generosity.
You're very welcome. Thank you😀
They came out beautifully,I love the middle tote/bag.🎉
I think it's my favourite too😀
Those are beautiful bags! ❤❤
Thank you so much😀
I love the biggest scrap bag!!
Thanks Nita😁
I love all of them! Great job!
Thanks Brenda😀
Love your channel! ❤
Thanks you so much😀
Just found your channel. Liked and subscribed. Great lesson.❤🇺🇸. Thanks for sharing prices so we know what to sell similar items for. I like all the bags, esp the large and patchwork. Boxed corner bag tells a story!
Thank you Sandra. Welcome to the channel!😀
Your videos are ALWAYS extremely helpful and I enjoy - and learn from! - what I’m sure you consider “waffling” as well! So please keep on just as you are. I think your pay rate should definitely tick up a couple notches, when you do that calculation. Also, I think if you love that bag, you should keep it! (Another option for items you love but don’t necessarily want to keep would be to donate the occasional one-off to charities you care about, for them to auction off online or in conjunction with a fund-raiser or what have you.) Cheers to you & yours from Boston, and I hope your son’s leg heals beautifully and quick as a cricket.
Love you are videos! My daughter is a interior designer and always brings me samples of different vinyls and fabrics.. It's great to get ideas for small totes in zipper bags. Thank you for your inspiration.
My pleasure Jan. It's awesome that you can get those fabrics from your daughter😁
I love the scrap corner bag the best good job you are always teaching me new things thanks so much🥰🥰🥰
I think it's my all time favourite too Joy😁
great projects, well worth the cost of your experience, time and labor.
thank you Janice🤣
They are all very nice ❤️ 👍
Thanks Roni😁
Thank you Christine, that was enjoyable and very useful. I too remember Lamb Chop, absolutely loved that act.
Regards from North Wales UK.
Thanks Colin. I love ventroloquists😀
Christine, I greatly appreciate your sharing your thought process and pricing of your products. I’m at the beginning of starting an endeavor and it’s helping me to consider how I can and should do this. Right now I’m seeing stock to hopefully sell in the coming months. Thank you. 😊
That's wonderful Kay. I wish you much success😀
Wow!! Those are beautiful! I love the scrap bag!
All the little bags look great too. We are our worst critic on the wares we make for sure.
Thanks Dana. Even though I didn't like them all, someone will love them😁
I love your blue top you have on,it’s so cool & summery
Thank you Susan. It was still hot when I began this video. Now it's a very chilly Winter😁
Well done Christine. Bet you are glad that’s done. I’ve made so many advent calendars for my kids and grandkids over the years that I get so bored making them lol. Ive also recently made bags and place settings for all my three grown up daughters and I got bored with making them too. lol. So for you to make so many bags I think is such an achievement. So congratulations on all your hard work. They are very cute. Xx
Thanks Christine. As much as I love batch sewing, I get really bored making so much of the same thing too. Usually, I'll take my time and have everything ready to do in batches at the shop. That way I can do a little at a time between other jobs to break up the monotony😀
Christine I love your videos n you are a very astute business woman. Thank you for all the info on labor n pricing costs.
You're very welcome Ellen. Thank you😁
You are so good thank you for sharing xx
Thank you so much Margaret😁
Great video, Christine! Since I watch all your tutorials it was easy to follow along without detailed instructions. By the way, I also work in inches. 😉 I love the large colourful patchwork bag. Save it for yourself! You deserve it after all that work. I hope the bags sell well!
Thank you. If I quilted all three layers together, I'd have to use another fabric for the lining, have raw edges inside, or use binding to hide them all. I don't like bindings, so as much as possible I'll line the bags instead😀
It’s a family affair 😊❤️
Yes! And all he required was food. Lots of it😁
Wow top effort Christine, I am exhausted just watching, off to check out the lamb chop song!
haha, are you still singing that in your head Faye😀
Well done Christine i did some batch sewing but not as much as you
Thanks Pamela. It's a very therapeutic system😀
I absolutely love the boxed tops you do! I prefer the zipper to stay along the top and not go down the sides. Thank you, thank you.
You are so welcome Maria. Thank you😁
Good afternoon Christine, that was very interesting, love the bags ,I didn’t think any of them were ugly. The material is gorgeous and I think they will sell very well. Thanks for explaining all the costs etc ,very interesting. Thanks again.
Hi Eve. Although I think some ugly, it's funny that they're usually the first to sell😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I think you under estimate your work, people love handmade items.
Another wonderful video Christine. I'm always inspired by your motivation and drive. Whenever I need a video to make me feel better I watch yours. My only criticism is that you didn't sing the Lambchop song!😆
Haha. Rochelle, I'm singing it in my head every day since mentioning it. I think if I had sung it out loud, every cat in the neighbourhood would leave town😀
Just found your channel. Liked and subscribed. Great lesson.❤🇺🇸
Thanks so much Sandra😀
Nice video, as always !!!! The little pouches can be "sanitary pad pouches " , . I make then to hold the sanitary pad in your purse, they are good especially for girls that are starting to need them 😊
That's a great idea Marce😁
Hi Christine. Love the bags. Sherri Lewis and Lambchops sang that ‘ear worm’ of a song. 🇨🇦😅👍
Thanks Pat. I just loved that song😁
I like them so much :) My sofa fabric looks like that :D
Thanks Tina. These are all upholstery fabric samples and offcuts😁
Well done Christine son , crumbs if I gave that job to one of our sons, I think they would be lost. Many many things they are brill at , but not sure about seing.
Hope you soon recover, from whatever happened. At least it’s filling your time. Thanks Christine for sharing. Maybe pencil cases would be a good idea for the small pieces,
Thanks Karen. I was pleasantly surprised that my son managed to do what I needed. Even if it was done at a tenth of the speed🤣
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs ah well that’s so you don’t ask again . Not sure what sort of age your son is , mine are both heading towards 50. I must say both always there to help if needed . However they may not willingly do this for me . Haha
I’m exhausted after watching just the videos so appreciate your glee finishing the whole project.
Your costings are interesting too having had to do similar breakdowns for my own businesses. On that note I think you’re selling yourself a little too cheap. Those overheads have shot up.
Brilliant work and congratulations putting your son to the task. 😎
You’ve reminded me to make some boxy bags that I’ll have to get around to fairly soon.
Thanks Duncan. I'm actually planning on revisiting my pricing structure this week. It's long overdue😁
Even though you didn’t sing the song it is now in my head! 😂🤣
haha, it's been in my head for days Tamara😀
Shri Lewis and Lambchop. Her daughter keeps Lambchop alive and does a brilliant job.
Thanks for sharing Kayla. I'll check it out😁
Well done on all your hard work and you finally got to the end of your 'task'! Now you can breath again. I watched the music video, once was enough haha. I've finally got back into my sewing and enjoying what I'm doing. Have a great weekend 🤩
Thanks Lelsye. I was certainly glad to be done with it. I'm pleased you've got back to sewing too😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Have you been drinking? - spelt my name a new way today haha 🤔🙃🤣
Oh no. My fingers are typing faster than my brain would allow🤪
I love that you share your thought process as you go. I also love that you share your business numbers. Thank you for helping all of us out here.❤ That tiny blue bag is adorable. But I have one question. How much did you pay for your son's labor? Lol
What a great son to help out mom.❤
haha, Valerie, my son's labour was the most expensive of the lot. He eats like a horse!😀
Shari Lewis was with Lambchop. I love the scrap bag.
I loved Shari. Thanks Hilda😁
Wow Christine! Well done! I can imagine what a relief it must have been to get that done. Those bags looks a amazing! I think it was a good idea to do the small boxes on the small bags, makes them look more balanced.
It would be very interesting to get to know that is written on your paper labels, how you put them together. I'm hoping to start to sell my own sewn things but I think it's so hard with tags and labels. ♥
Thanks Umedia. My paper labels tell of my sewing and fabric journey which people love to read. There should be a photo of them in the community tab on my channel from about a year ago😀
Christine, I actually like the non-boxed corners for makeup bags that I keep in my purse. I find top boxed corners makes it hard to get your hand in the bag (especially if your rooting around in there while driving!)
I like those too Lisa. These would be a little bulky😁
Thank you for sharing this tutorial. I know it was quite an investment of time.Maybe the little pouches can be coin pouches.
Thanks Loraine. Coin pouches are a great idea😀
I love how you are so transparent with the costs Christine. I live in UK and I think minimum wage is between £11.50-£12 and hour(sadly I don't know as I'm unable to work. No wonder items from 'down under are so expensive. Will you be taking a break from bags for a while lol? Take care🤗🇬🇧
haha, no break for me. I'm already on to my next batch😁
The fabrics have been given to you for free , but that doesn't change the fact that ,at the end of the financial year, the tax man would charge you for every earned penny .so in reality the fabrics are not for free . Splendid teaching job as always , it is a real treat to watch you working on your projects . Clear , precise , on point . The bags , I love them all , small " ugly" but not so ugly at all pouches included 😁. Massive project , time wise but it looks like you managed to squeeze the labour hours to minimum . Thanks for the upload xxx
Thanks Karmina. I make sure I allow for the tax man and all other costs of running a business in the labour rate that I charge, though I'm about to increase that again. Whilst the fabric is free, the processing time is always accounted for😀
Absolutely love this channel! So many wonderful ideas! Question: Should these fabrics be washed before use? thanks!
Thank you Andrea. I don't prewash my fabric because it adds to the time and cost of production, and find it's not necessary. The ones I've made as shopping totes get laundered regularly. Just cold water, and I've even put them in the dryer without problems.😁
👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Joelle😁
Above is an advertisement for Temu. They have wonderful customer service robots.
Haha, I think I need a few robots Janice😁
They are also putting smaller companies out of business by swamping the market. I would never use them.
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs You must be having to deal with the same companies as me ❤️
Dear Christine. I have a hard time finding out how to make patterns for pouches with cut outs for the corners. I am thinking if it is an idea for a video, to explain which patterns is for which pouches - how the patterns looks like with the out cuts for the corners - if it's only four corners or more and how the out cuts has an influence on how the finished product will look like. Best whishes from Berit
Berit, have you seen the video I did on boxed corners? I make 4 bags from same size fabric, and have different boxed corners showing 4 different outcomes. Here's a link to two videos I've done on the subject. 😁

Hi, Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop. Just found your channel. Beautiful bags, but love the tote bag made from the boxed corner wastage. It's very elegant, has a touch of Tiffany and art deco. If you let that go I think you will regret it.? July'24. UK. E❤
I use diffent soft bags to put my underwear, soks and what not in my suitcase when traveling, saves time and frustation when things are in one place.
I'm hearing this so often now Beatrix. The shoe bags make great packing pods😁
Enjoyed the video 👍- loved the little tabs for the zips. if you have a supplier or make for those would be great to know. I will see if I can get them shipped to UK.
Thanks Lorraine. I get those tabs from Amazon. There'll be a link in the description😁
What progress! They are all great bags. Sheri Lewis and Lambchop. I hated that song. It's a earworm.
Thanks Rebecca. I loved that song😁
Excellent video as always! Thank you. Question: Did you factor in your son's labour into the 18.5 hours? In other words, if you'd had to do the work that he did, on your own, would you have gone over the 18.5 hours? Thanks again!
Thanks Barbara. Yes, I did factor my son's time into the total, though he was a lot slower than I am (he was also watching movies), so I estimated how long it would take me and then added about half an our😁
I love your videos. Where did you find the pull tabs on the zippers?
Christine, love the bags you made. What do you use for the zipper pulls to make it easier to open the zip. Thanks
Thanks Alison. They're called zipper pulls. I get them from Amazon, and have links in the description😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thanks for the info 😀
You should keep the scrap fabric bag for yourself!😊
I'm tempted Nanci, but I already have so many😁
Hi Christine, I really love the bag’s you’ve just made. I’m interested in buying one of the $15 pouches. Do you have one in Grey, if not a Pink one? I’ve checked on your webpage, but can only see the $25 ones. Congratulations on selling ALL your box bags. 😊 Please let me know if you have a pouch available and I’ll buy it straight away. Also would they be washable? “Thank You” so much, kindest regards Deb 🌷
I love the fact that you seek to find fabric destined for the trash and give it a second chance for use. I think we who make things at the sewing machine tend to focus on features we don't like, or little quirks in our projects that nag at us. I think we should avoid this. While I will discuss technique among trusted friends (like what could I have done better) , I don't point out what nags me (or what we consider 'ugly'). Someone else might just love your little bags, quirks and all.
thanks Beth. I actually love "ugly" things. Many times I'll price something in the shop "ugly mugs", ugly bags" etc, and they're the first to sell😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I’m not able to add a photo, but wanted to share that with your zipper tutorials, I’ve successfully mended a zipped bag. It’s been on my mending pile for years, as I could not get the zipper head back on. With your tips: voila! Back in business! Thanks!
@@MsBfromtheD that's so awesome.
We have a Facebook group by the same name where you can share photos and see what other viewers are up to 😀
Do you ever get helpers to assist with the sewing? Just to get to the bottom of the pile?
Yes I did Bonnie. A few years ago I needed help to make my shopping totes, and had a lady help out for a couple of months. Back then I was selling about 150 per week😁
I really love all your bags , I have so many pieces of curtains left that I could use . Where are you 8n Australia because I am in Australia Sydney.
Thanks Lilette. I'm in little town called Nagambie which is about an hour North of Melbourne😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs is it easy for you to sell your products because here in Sydney , it is very hard to sell , they are too posh , to buy hand made , they wants to buy it for peanuts with you . I am very happy for you because I know how hard work it is
@liletteautrey8481 I don't think it's ever easy to sell, but I'm fortunate that I have lots of other things happening in my junk store. I also do alterations at work, so I don't have to focus on just selling my bags.
It used to hurt listening to comments by people saying they could make this or that, and cheaper, but learned to ignore them as they were never a going to buy.
I also put my prices up instead of down to attract a different clientele and have blurbs around the store about my products. I think that has been the biggest driver of my sales.
Would love to purchase a large boxed bag .How would I do that ? Thankyou.
That's lovely Brenda. I have them on my website www.stitchthis.com.au If you're not in Australia, just email me via the website and I can work out the postage costs (which are quite high), and I can sort it at my end😀
It sounds good; but, how many hours did your son put in? Was his time added in?
Thanks Arvetta. I did add my son's time, but because he was a lot slower than me, and he was watching movies whilst helping, I allowed half the time it actually took him. I sat with him for some and was about four times quicker than he was, but he'd never done it before😁
I’m sure $26.00 is for your skills and knowledge , not typical unskilled labor minimum wage.
Either way it’s Good to make a profit!
We all need a reason to get out of bed
$23.23 s the minimum wage in Australia, so Christine has basically just rounded it.
Must have been the site I went to. They may have overinflated the award wage😁
I think age would come in to it as well😁
