    I bought the 2022 Taos and kept it for only 4 months before getting rid of it. There were too many things wrong with it. The idle stop system makes the AC blow hot. Imagine stopping in traffic in Florida. To save on energy you'd have to sit there in the heat. I don't know why AC power isn't tied to an economy mode vs the idle stop feature. Secondly, the transmission sucks. There is a stall between deceleration and acceleration. so you better make sure you have enough time before turning onto a major road or else you'll get rear ended. There is also lag in the transmission. I can't explain it in technical terms but because of the out of sync issues between the gas pedal and acceleration this poses a hazard. you will gas it and the vehicle stalls before it accelerates as it should. Likewise, when you are in traffic and you barely tap it because of the sync issues you will think that you are apply the right amount of pressure only to see the vehicle lurch forward after about 2 seconds. Because of these transmissions issues I don't think this vehicle will age well. so I got out of it while I could get a decent trade in value for it. The vehicle only drives well in sport mode and God forbid if someone else were to drive it and not know about these lag issues. To be petty, the armrest is tiny, too low and unadjustable. I chose to live without that because of the deal that I got but with everything else, the armrest issue just compounded dislike for this vehicle. To be fair, I've driven a Tiguan and I didn't experience these issues, leading me to buy the Taos but it's just not ready yet chief. so be cautious when considering the 2023 version.

      You got good trade in only after 4 months of ownership?? That’s impressive lol

    • @leanchasersx
      @leanchasersx Год назад

      @Ryan Bachman I get your sarcasm but VW isn't one of those vehicle that holds its value. Besides that, getting a $6000 difference between my trade-in and the new vehicle was quite a feat, considering the average difference I was getting was $16K to$17K. The thing about trading in is, you will get what looks like a decent value for your trade-in but they negate that by marking up the value for the new vehicle, eroding any better of a good trade-in value. So, when I say I got a good deal, I pretty much got them to give me a good deal on the trade-in without moving the needle on the value for the new vehicle. By doing that I saved $10K to $11K.

      You just don't know how to drive it. Mine's super smooth and my partner whom I drive everywhere and who has suffered from motion sickness his whole life LOVES and remarks on my smooth driving - in our AWD Taos. And PLENTY power passing cars or getting on the highway. But you have to step on the gas a bit, and definitely get used to the timing - which I got a hang on within first couple days. So no there's no hazard at all with Taos but people need to understand differences between transmissions and how they work.

    • @leanchasersx
      @leanchasersx Год назад

      @MarcoPolo-xw4kj It's an automatic transmission. The fact that you have to figure it out means it wasn't well made. Yes, I got the hang of it because it was my vehicle but like I said, you can't comfortably give it to anyone to drive. Besides that any semblance of smoothness was only achievable in sport mode. If responsiveness means a lot to you, this vehicle isn't it. If not then you'll be quite fine driving this around.

    I almost bought one last year, but VW had a stop sale on the AWD versions at the time. I really wished that VW had used the 1.8L TSI from the Golf Alltrack, as the smaller 1.5L engine is a bit anemic - especially in my neck of the woods around Denver, CO. Either that, or make a GTI version with the 2.0L engine. In any case, it's a nice small SUV that's a better option than the Tiguan, which has become a bit too large for many people. I had an Alltrack which was a great "lifted" wagen, but was a bit on the small side. As such, the Taos is kind of a Goldilocks size, as it splits the difference between Tiguan and the Alltrack.
    PS: There is a learning curve on how to manage the dual clutch transmission from a stop and at lower speeds.

    I would suggest you get a window mount for your camera, the one you were wearing bounces around a bit too much as you talked. Also, if your going to bash a mechanical feature of the car you might want to explain in some detail, with words, what it’s doing instead of a non descriptive clichéd statement. Perhaps then, viewers would get that the transmission works as it was designed, however, the way it works in certain stop and go situations isn’t most people’s favorite.

    As good as this SEL trim is, in China VW sells a better spec Taos called "Tharu". It has a power lift gate, a digital climate control, and also the leather seats look a bit better from what I see in videos. I think they even have a bit of a bigger motor (2.0 TSI 4 motion version). Also the Chinese "Tharu" interior looks better than the Taos !
    It's a shame that vehicle capabilities and interiors get dictated by corporate (marketing dept would be my guess). I think VW America wants customers to buy the more costly models like Atlas / Atlas Cross Sport. Even the Tiguan has power lift gates for example (but not the Taos, even in the SEL trim).

      @nerdgurl402 Год назад +2

      @@jeffmorse645 it is slightly jerky at parking lot speeds. I feel like I’ve had to adjust my driving style a little bit in these instances. Not a deal breaker, but less than ideal. I do prefer the smoother drive of the 8 speed automatic though, but I didn’t like the numb steering feel of the FWD when I test drove it.
