I mostly say early '80s or late '70s because it has more of a raw, hard rock sound, which becomes less evident the later you go in the '80s.

This is the result of him being tossed in the Black Hole.
As the lore goes I think He stopped being a mercenary pilot and rebuilt his fighter into a racing machine. His story is very similar as star fox's Father but in this universe he is not dead yet and has a family.

So the story of James McCloud in this game is Loosely based off of the James McCloud from Starfox with that being said this is McCloud is a fighter pilot or was that transferred and rebuild his machine to be a racer he does not have any ties with Star Fox in the Star Fox universe they're two different universes that do not coincide yet he is very very Loosely based off of Star Fox's dad
