  • In this video I give my thoughts on the matter...I don't use fancy jigs or expensive equipment, it's mostly hand work done by eye. I failed to mention that the final shaping I do is at the kitchen sink using water with the various stones....Good Luck !!

    Excellent once again. Higly appreciated :) .
    Wanna make moulding planes myself, since you only get very worn out ones here which are way to expensive. Thx for putting up all that knowledge.

    Good looking product. I wish there was more doing, as opposed to talking. The verbal instruction is quite good. Makes me want to see the process.

    Great video!
    If I were better with a computer I could show a video about woodturning a profile disc. After it's turned, charge it with a grinding compound and finish the plane iron before heat treatment.
    With a profile disc for each molding plane, keeping them sharp is a lot easier.

      Please make the video. It would be very useful, even when the quality is low

    Do you have a video on making those big moulding planes in this video? They are huge!

      No, I never filmed any of that work. They pre date my first video by a few years.

      @@thomasnourse7506 They do look good, thank you! I'm happy to report, they work just as well. Look out for my latest video to come online this coming Friday morning, Sep. 30, 2022, and you'll see the plane at work !

    Super video. One question, do you taper your your blades.

    • @ROUGHCUT20
      @ROUGHCUT20  3 года назад +1

      It's a good question, because a "Yes" answer may convince plane makers to not make a plane or their own blades. No, I do not taper my blades. I've had no problems with non tapered blades, no issues of any kind. I think it's safe to say the wedge angle, the fit of the wedge and the shaping of the iron all account for more than a tapered iron would provide. Good luck !

    Video of hands bouncing around doesn't support the lesson well at all. That being said, the information and description is good.
