I really wish you could see what you were doing. So so videography isn't a problem in most of your videos, but this is one where details are important and impossible to make out. Thanks for all the helpful info.
I've been out of the archery circle for quite some time. I stumbled across a few archery videos of people showing how to set up a bow and put equipment together. All I could say is....WOW...what the hell are they talking about!!! LOL!!! Watching your videos is like looking into the past and gives me hope that good information is still out their. Keep up the great work!!!!
Dude! I just made the “Cheater Tool”-‘dual cable stilts’ so jig clears cables, SO MUCH BETTER! Thank You Sir for your helpful content keep my gear going!
DUDE you're killing me with the "cheater tools"!! I have a set of Nuge cutoff arrows with QAD Tune-a-nocks that I have used for over a decade for that exact purpose...to create enough separation to clear the serving jig. Dang. I probably ought to start editing all my shop tech tips and videos from 2009 forward...
These videos are fantastic. So thank you for making them. A video that I would love to see would be on all the knots. Because you have been doing this forever you are very good. However slowing down showing how to do the soft knots and this last serving knot would be very helpful.
Thank you Josh. Great idea with the self help video. For the most part understandable but if you could get in a little tighter shot with knots and such that would be helpful.
I've been building & re-serving strings for a loooooong time and never saw your push apart sticks with the nocks at the ends. Fantastic Idea!!!!! Don't know if it will work for me on my bow but I'll be giving it a try soon. WOW!!!!
Great timing on this one!!. Ordered a serving jig from you that tracking says should be here today. I appreciate you confirming the serving string too. There's so many different serving strings and diameters its hard for a guy new to working on his bow to keep up. My shop here re-served my Hoyt factory string & now their serving job has separated. I gots to learn how to do this stuff! Thanks for the vids!!
Video idea. Pin sight sizes for your sight. Pros, cons, what size you use for hunting vs tac vs long range etc. Thanks for all the shared knowledge and encouraging us to work on our own bows.
Josh, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and everyone wants to be like you since you are the apex of archery tech and innovation. Would ask that you have more close-ups on your tech videos and explain knots and adjustments a little slower. Thanks for the knowledge you impart.
Great informative video as always . Only thing you didn’t touch on was making sure you sever in the same direction as the string is twisted. Thanks for your awesome videos!
These tech videos really pushed me to create a home diy shop for my hunting and 3d setup. Thanks for doing what you do. If you could put together a video about that 3rd axis draw board you have attached to your press that'd be cool
Love it !! Thanks for sharing your experiance and knowledge , am new to archery but am delving into working on my own stuff as a mechanic for work I enjoy tinkering and knowing the backside of how things work !
Marking the old center serving ends with a silver sharpy on the string to give you a reference on were to start and finish works great. Always have minimum 2" of center serving above and below nock points to prevent separation. Personally I use 2.5" on both sides. 5" total
Keen to see how different or similar we do things😮😅 Alright pretty good MFJJ hahaha Effectively the same method but I always start with my tail going through the string. But there's some stuff people need to also consider: - Wrap with the strings rotation - Not all materials are the same. BCY 62XS (the "standard") feels very different to BCY Powergrip and then you've got stuff like Angel Majesty which is probably the king of materials to use. - If your material means your nock fit is a bit too loose, don't be too scared to run the tail under for effectively 80% of the length (you may need an extra set of hands to hold the tail as straight as possible). Yes with a hand serving jig you will get a small spiralling effect but in practice you'd have to stupidly good to tell the difference. I just had to redo a Reckoning Gen2 with this technique and its shooting insanely good. - Avoid short centre servings, make them as long as you practically can, but don't go too close to the peep.
These technical videos you should really let Tim help you with so you get better videos close up of every detail. It would help the guys who needs to visually see every aspect to understand.
As far as I can tell, he's only trying to sell us something in every video he makes. disguised advertising for podium archery. I get it, but he's very likable and obviously very smart and could make some fantastic educational videos.
I can’t remember if I saw this suggestion or not but I love your videos but it would be helpful if you could get a little bit better camera angle on some of the close up stuff. I’ve seen some where guys face the camera towards them focused on the bow string or whatever it is you might be working on. All in all very helpful video and appreciate you trying to spread your knowledge!! 👍🏻
Another great tech tip. Thank you! How about a close up break down of your draw apparatus that you use to check wheeling and timing and 3rd axis? I’m gonna build one. You know, imitation being the best form of flattery and all🤣
The cut arrow pieces with nocks is way better than me cinching down my cables with paracord!😀 Do you find that it matters which direction you add the center serving?
This should have been filmed from the other side where your hands aren’t blocking what is going on. Really like the videos. Just something think about in the future.
Hey Brother. I haven't had to replace the center serving yet, but I have a dumb question for you. Do I need to use different sized serving for string stop or cable guide roller areas? Or can I just use center serving for that as well? I have some .015 that I'm currently using for that purpose. But, if I can use one size, It would save a little money and possibly some headaches down the road trying to remember what size is on the jig. Lol. I only work on my bows, so nobody else's bow would be affected. Thanks for these little nuggets of information. Oh, and I'm gonna make me some of those short arrow pieces you used for spacers. That's ingenius.
Do you re-serve the center serving on the control cables the same way? Dose the serving size matter like with nock fit or do they just need to fit threw the rollers/cable guide?
Recommended thread for the vap .166 nocks? I just got some new abb bowstrings and i must have twisted the knot. There is one strand of exposed string on my center serving. Can i just tie some serving where the gap is?
Not sure if you already have one but a vid on fix peep rotation would be great. I'm sure it's an issue that plagues many! My peep is rotated to the left and my d-loop points to the right at rest. At full draw things line up more or less. How do I fix this when 1/2 twists in the string don't get the peep right!?
Good video, but in videos like this you should get a gopro or similar camera and either set it up facing you, or chest mounted so we can see it as well
This may be a dumb question could you possibly make your arrow clock left or right depending on which way you put the serving on clockwise or counterclockwise?
Does it matter if the string is under pressure or not when you reserve it. Someone once told me it has to be at over 100lbs of pressure when you serve a string.
It might kinda suck but if you could make another video with some close ups of the start and end would be great. its kinda hard to see exactly whats going on even though I think I know whats going on.
Technically impaired but learning 🤓. Could you slow it down and add a forward facing camera angle. You do this every day for a living so you could probably do it blind folded lol. weekend worriers learn slower. Thanks again for all your videos.
I really wish you could see what you were doing. So so videography isn't a problem in most of your videos, but this is one where details are important and impossible to make out. Thanks for all the helpful info.

Josh I did my string for the first time yesterday!!
I thought about the arrow trick, glad you did it, now I know I can!
Josh, that cut arrow with nock trick is money. I was cursing my strings 2 weeks ago when I did my center serving.
Dude! I just made the “Cheater Tool”-‘dual cable stilts’ so jig clears cables, SO MUCH BETTER! Thank You Sir for your helpful content keep my gear going!
A video on broadhead tuning would be awesome. There are a lot of videos out there that contradict each other on this topic.
Your how to videos are great information. Thank you
Keep your knowledge coming josh we have a nice library building up to refer to to help us out thanks man!
Always great videos, even though I will never be able to back serve🤣appreciate you sharing the knowledge MFJJ thankyou 🙏
I was literally searching how to do this last weekend so, great timing

Love the tips and tricks like the cut arrows to give you more room to work! Keep em coming!
Thanks for the great tutorial, you made this easy to follow
Great vid. Have reserved many. Something everyone should know how to do.

Can’t see much as far as detail but i do love the how to videos a big reason i built my own bow shop at home is because your videos

Perfect timing. I need to reserve my center serving as well!
I love how easy you make this look. I would struggle with this.
Thanks for your time and knowledge!
Looks way easier than I thought it would be. Thanks for all the great tec videos and tricks of the trade tips.

Love these little “How To” videos. Very helpful since I’m no where close to an archery shop! Y’all keep these going!
Great video! You make it look so easy. I always mess up the end and have to redo it. That is were the experience comes into play.
Great informative video as always . Only thing you didn’t touch on was making sure you sever in the same direction as the string is twisted. Thanks for your awesome videos!
Great video and these type of maintenance and build demonstrationings are great content.
These tech videos really pushed me to create a home diy shop for my hunting and 3d setup. Thanks for doing what you do. If you could put together a video about that 3rd axis draw board you have attached to your press that'd be cool
Good video…..You might want to mention direction of serving relative direction of string twist.
Great info Josh thanks!
Excellent video been waiting patiently for this one. 👊🏻
As always great info
Love it !! Thanks for sharing your experiance and knowledge , am new to archery but am delving into working on my own stuff as a mechanic for work I enjoy tinkering and knowing the backside of how things work !
Something I need to do myself. Good info. Next step purchase the jig

I agree, they video needs to be closer. Can't really see what's going on that much.

Couldn't disagree more with your analysis.@@jbrooksy
@larrypasha5015 which part?
@@jbrooksy “he’s only trying to sell us something”.

The cheater tool hack made this video worth every second!!!
A end of season bow break down, inspection and cleaning video would be cool.
I just did this on my bow last week. I had to use dudleys video which was good also
It would be great if you could do a video on how to measure for proper draw length.
Thank you so very much
Great tutorial can you please do one on nock sizes and types. Best fit method very confusing topic
The cut arrow pieces with nocks is way better than me cinching down my cables with paracord!😀 Do you find that it matters which direction you add the center serving?
Hey I will like you to review the Scott verge release
This should have been filmed from the other side where your hands aren’t blocking what is going on.
Really like the videos. Just something think about in the future.
Thank you MFJJ! Only ask is how much tension did you have in the serving jig?
Things to check when buying a used bow would be a good topic.
Would be awesome if you could do a cam shimming video with an elite or Hoyt
Thanks for the content. I like the arrow spreader bar idea. How long are they?

IS serving a cable just the same and what is best serving on wear for cables etc. Thanks JJ.

Would love to see a tac/3d gear video pac, quiver, bino video
Yeah I couldnt see what you were doing!
How much do or would you charge to change a cam and strings and cables?
Also, would that include a tune of the bow afterwards?
Not sure if you already have one but a vid on fix peep rotation would be great. I'm sure it's an issue that plagues many! My peep is rotated to the left and my d-loop points to the right at rest. If your peep is left and your loop is right you are getting quite a bit of creep in your string set if it's straight when you get it back.
@@Millersgunandsupply What does that mean? What can I do to correct it besides getting new strings?
@@nevereverbeendonebefore a new string is the only fix unfortunately...
@@Millersgunandsupply Welp... guess i better hurry and get one installed before the season starts 😬
Do you have any videos out on how to clean out your cams properly? If you do I haven’t been able to find it.
Roughly how long are those arrow pieces from Nock groove to Nock groove? I may have missed it
Good video, but in videos like this you should get a gopro or similar camera and either set it up facing you, or chest mounted so we can see it as well

How about the serving for cables that goes thru roller guards? What size you use for that?
How to To Top Hat tune a Mathews would be a great video!
Just had to do mine 2 weeks ago
Does it matter if the string is under pressure or not when you reserve it. Someone once told me it has to be at over 100lbs of pressure when you serve a string.
Should you serve with or opposite the twist of your string?
I'm really curious. What is the T-bar attached to your bow press?
A close up while you doing this would be great
Does it matter which way you wrap the serving according to which way the string is twisted?
Peep, I'm not sure if you have done a video on setting up and tying in a peep
My cheater sticks are apron strings I have used for close to 30 yrs now.
someone could sell something like that makeshift cut arrow with nocks on both ends. How long were those arrow shafts?
It might kinda suck but if you could make another video with some close ups of the start and end would be great. its kinda hard to see exactly whats going on even though I think I know whats going on.
Good night, can you say where you are located.
Do you not like the byc powergrip or halo?
Thanks for the effort on this, but you went so fast with camera angles at a distance that I really couldn’t pick up enough information.
Would you happen to have a used bow you'd be willing to sell ?
Personally I prefer tge metal serving jig. You can "throw" it around the string better
Can you guys zoom in better so we can see better, thanks
My serving keeps separating under the d-loop knots and my loop keeps twisting to the left which makes my peep twist on the next shot…
Technically impaired but learning 🤓. Could you slow it down and add a forward facing camera angle. You do this every day for a living so you could probably do it blind folded lol. weekend worriers learn slower. Thanks again for all your videos.
Nice video, but it would be nicer if you had close up, so we can see it clearly...
Dang giveaways started by this drops? I haven't got a call yet..... Dang.
👍
This was just an audio book😬
Slow down, add a second camera angle for better visual.
Brand new $160 strings and my serving blew apart after 10 shots
I appreciate this video but I'm having trouble seeing what you're doing.
🤷 'Promo SM'
please get a new camera angle..... this not worth a you know what
