I have enjoyed this wonderful collection of young jazz musicians tremendously. I especially was impressed with how advanced some of the sax players are as soloists. All is not lost fellow musicians from the golden age of music, and I mean my peers of course., I am 82 and it is so good to see that the music I love will not be dying any time soon. As a former USAF musician that music is deep inside me.

I was impressed at now much the kids were enjoying themselves and feeding off and encouraging each other. Some great team lessons here. Thanks for posting this. I did not realize until now that the Tucson Jazz Institute did not play with music. That must have taken quite a long time and it's a smart move by their director; it causes them to listen to each other much more whilst playing.

Matthew Molina Tucson never plays with music, but if you play the same few songs for months on end working to perfect them you end up memorizing them whether you want to or not, and yes; I'm speaking from experience. Hahaha

Does anyone else notice that there are only 14 jazz bands in this video? Badger High School, my high school is the 15th band that played this year. Is there a specific reason that we didn't make it into this amazing video? Gregory Bunge led the Badger High School Jazz Ensemble to play Jump For Joy, Blood Count, and Symphony in Riffs. When I grew up in Wisconsin there was not such band it is hard to believe they are so young.
From Brookfield Central High. I understand Brookfield has a weekly jazz night in a hotel with a big band. I don't know of any high school band in the Bronx or NYC of this quality. NYC now is dying when it comes to jazz as far as I know. The CUNY schools have something, but what I don't know.
