Yep. My blade 15 (2022 advanced) has a vapor chamber and the overall weight is within a rounding error of the 16" MacBook pro I use for work. Intel and NVIDA hardware needs top tier cooling and if you are spending that much money on the computer, it should be able to get as much performance as possible out of the hardware.

Honestly, a must-do for these laptops is to open them up and repaste them with a high-quality thermal paste. You can also upgrade the thermal pads or use TG-PP10 for any chiplets for a little extra performance. Honeywell PTM7950 is also an option.
The stock application of paste oftentimes sucks, so this should help with idle temps, fan ramping, and frequency drops at peak.

I have an XPS 15 i7 and the overheating on this thing is ridiculous. I am typing on it right now and the fans audible just from watching this video and my finger tips are warm from the heat generated by the laptop. The promise of the long battery life is joke really, because the constant overheating kills it. I can get maybe 3-4 hours out of it assuming I'm not editing, then it's more like... 2? I never edit without it plugged in as a result. The actual editing performance is good, screen colour accuracy is great and the portability factor has been great as I've been travelling - although the webcam is terrible so not so good for zoom calls. The SD slot is super useful, glad for the headphone jack. If this laptop could figure out the heating issue and consequently the battery problem, this laptop would be a fantastic buy

Ya this review has basically confirmed my decision to skip the XPS ... again! I've got the 9500 and have found no reason to upgrade to the 9530, beside the power their cooling solution makes useless to run. Such a shame, for an otherwise sexy-looking machine. What other laptop would you suggest? Currently considering the Thinkpad Z16 Gen 1.
UPDATE: So I bit the bullet and got the 9530! Nothing else compared FOR A MACHINE CORPORATE WAS WILLING TO SUBSIDIZE. (Sorry for the caps but I know other devices compare.) In any case, I was really impressed with mine. This thing is a beast. I have the same specs as The Everyday Dad, although I did upgrade the DDR5 and SSD. All my bad experiences with Dell (so far! ... fingers crossed) went out the window after setting it up. I even like the FHD, although at this price it should include the OLED by default. I mean come on, it costs exactly as much in CAD as my 16" M1 Pro, which is mini LED (!) and has much better battery life, energy effeciency, and speakers! By the way, Everyday Dad, it's not just your unit whose hinge creaks! LOL It may be that the hinge is so tight to avoid the hinge problem of prior iterations? The lid of my 9500, for instance, used to open when I carried it like a book. Friggen Dell!

I just turned off Turbo Boost on my old 2019 XPS 15 with OLED and all works fine. No need for fast CPU in my case and most of my works are done remote in cloud anyway. Upgrade RAM to 64GB and SSD to 1TB and this runs like new again.
Resell value of this is horrible compare to Macbook, but if you need to run Docker and other memory intensive application on this, it is a better developer machine. An equivalent Mac will run more than double the price.
Mac's biggest advantage will be battery life. This new XP 15 can only last 2-3 hours on battery now even after I replaced the battery. My Macbook Pro 16 barely goes down 20% on battery at that time.
OLED screen on this beas Macbook when watching Netflix etc though.

Great stuff as always. Any chance you might do a comparison video, or at least make a few comments here, about the new Dell 17" XPS 9730 with the gen 13 i7 versus the new 16" Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro or Pro 360 or even Ultra with the gen 13 i7? You have to pay a lot more for the Dell, but that 17" screen in a near 15" form factor is just so desirable despite it only going up to a 60Hz refresh rate that I am tempted to pay the extra money for the Dell, though I might get the FHD+ instead of the 4k screen option to save some money and get a little better battery life. Also, it seems I could now get the earlier xps 9720 with the gen 12 i7 chip at a comparable price to the above referenced new 16" Book3's, but I have to imagine the newer gen13 i7 chip offers some advantages over the older gen 12 i7, maybe, hopefully, including running cooler and have a longer lasting battery?

Here's the thing: Dell actually has a really decent warranty. Yes, their chat service leaves a lot to be desired (AKA, it sucks), but you get a next-day or two-day service warranty option with these laptops. Once you've finagled your way through their textbook questions, you can have your computer fixed within a couple of days.
Try that with Samsung. Spoiler alert: good luck.

I really hope that Dell gets their shit together next year on this. I got the xps 15 9510 for basically free from a former co worker. The issues that are out there, Im aware of. I personally havent had a LOT of issues thankfully (prolly not yet lol). However, I dont understand how you (Dell) dont properly cool the xps 15 line.
Trying to put something powerful in a thin body.... yeah massive heat problem. I get that the 17 is there but cmon man, learn from others mistakes (Apple's touch bar model). Dont get me wrong, I love this windows laptop and I want to really love it but the thermal issues gotta be mitigated in this day in age. Added with throwing in a AMD chip and hell, pair it up with full team red and give it a radeon GPU.
Ive noticed that most of the windows laptops nowadays are in the Intel chipset choke hold (could be just me). But everywhere I look, its Intel. Anywhooo - If Dell were to create a full team red line or even AMD chipset and have it properly chilled (cool system), Ill buy it. But with that being said, might as well stick with a Macbook Pro M series laptop for now.
