What arranging or general guitar-related concepts are you currently struggling with that you'd like me to cover in future videos? Let me know in a comment!
Yes! ¡New Video! You're my great teacher, Nathan, I'll be eternally grateful. I'm learning a lot from You, Thanks for this. I am improving with your diapason freedom training and your songs. I hope someday to be as good a person as you are, Thank you very much Master, 💫God Bless You💗
This is really good. I've utilized basic, melody beneath harmony (love that one), a little bit of octaves and campanella (although I never thought of it as a technique apart from creating cool harmonies blurring some melody notes) and harmonics (natural and artificial). I never really thought of that arpeggio accompaniment pattern (triplet pattern of ascending and descending arpeggio patterns) or using percussion (due to using a jazz hollow body guitar). Focusing on percussion encourages me to try the classical guitar more to explore those percussion techniques. I really like how you broke things down here. Very useful and something I need to commit to memory and explore more the techniques I don't use as much. Thanks for making this video! Great stuff!
Hey Nathan. I've been playing guitar now for only a year and a half, primarily fingerstyle, and I have learned several instrumental covers, mostly the classics, such as Pirates of the Caribean and Careless Whispers by George Michael. However, I'd really prefer to be writing these myself. My biggest problem is how much I struggle to find melodies. It can take me hours to find simple verses, let alone pairing this with the chords and developing the other instruments that go into the piece. I did recently manage to make a cover for the song Dirty Paws by Monsters of Men. I don't like the song very much but I figured if the song's got three verses no choruses or bridge then this can't take too long. It took me three hours to complete what I had in mind with the addition of some basic percussion, and despite it not being a song I enjoy listening to, the fact I wrote my cover myself compensates and makes it enjoyable to play. I found this good progress that I was even able to get this far, but I want to do songs I love. So, what I would like to know is how you have become so accomplished at finding the notes of any melody, and any other tips you could prescribe to a guitarist like me. Also thanks for this video. Gonna make sure I come back to this when arranging in future, so helpful.
Hey man, I'm no Nathan but I do have a tip for you: _find the chords of the song online first._ Once you have the chords of the song, try using the first 5 frets of the 3 highest strings (G, B, E) to figure out the melody, and pair it with the bass/root note of the chord for a melodic sound. The melody note of the chord is usually in the chord itself, such as the high open E string in a C chord. If you fiddle around with the high strings for a bit while playing the root note, you should be able to work the melody in no time. Hope this helps! - Ammo
Ammo thanks bro, I just started doing some website ear training and that helped me heaps, my pitch must’ve been and probably still is awful but at least I’ve seen improvement. I’ll also try out your suggestion though I feel like I was sorta doing this already, must just be a practice thing. Thanks for the response though.
@@zacharyholtsbaum3698 no problem, here's a video by Andrew Foy that helps explain what i tried to say a bit better ruclips.net/video/-_qBxDVsM_Y/видео.html
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy For harmonics, mostly technique-is it better to use middle to pluck or pinky? And what happens when you run out of fretboard for higher artificial harmonics (I'm not sure that happens often). And for percussion, what's the best way to "snare" and pluck when necessary. Thanks again! Love all the videos.
I play the Guitar but i learned it from a rock/blues perspective so i didnt really realise or do any research on different styles of Guitar playing. I have now got myself stuck in shapes and chords and over trained in specific areas rather than remaining flexible. What kind of playing style do you play. Is this Classical? On your other channel for example you play epic medieval style tunes/songs. Is that folk style or is this all just based on classical style playing. I noticed you never really play the basic chord shapes at the low end like a lot of people do.
I don't need any other RUclips video. This video gives everything that I need to know.
The percussion lesson in this was great! Would you please consider making a video solely on percussion and tab reading?
thanks! definitely will do more
Yea, I think the most useful video I’ve ever seen
whooaaaah
best guitar channel
I think this is the first video I’ve ever seen without any dislikes
You are the best guitar mentor out there!
That was awesome! I realize that I am not taking advantage of a couple of those techniques.
thanks, aaron! your arrangements keep getting better and better
Thank you Nathan for another great video 👌🏼😁

Can you help me with barre chords? thank you!
How to start a song from the melody
can you show us how to use classical techniques like tremolo in arrangments?
I love the arrangements lessons! But can you also make a video about general guitar technique, books that you recommend and methods? Thank you!!
How to start writing classical guitar music? How to write melodies and accompaniments and structure them in an original piece
Can you please make a separate video teaching the percussion. It's great.
That intro was dope!
No me cabe en la cabeza que canales tan buenos como este tengan tan pocas visitas
Absolute Ingeniousness ✨
this chanel deserves more likes
Brilliant playing
Yeah! Gotta use them all! Thanks Nathan!
You're so talented! You deserve much more subs. Thanks for these high quality tutorials (sorry my bad english)
very interesting, I wish I could learn small part of this, thanks for this.
Thanks Nathan for the awesome video. Top notch quality... thank you again

Thanks
Great video Nathan! lots of usefull information.
You should also do a video on how you arrange the melodies in the first place
thanks! any specific parts of that process in particular?
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy one thing that always confuses me is which string to use for note.
As well as how to find the chords to go with the melody.
Thank you very much for sharing these techniques! Very useful!
Great job
This video was really awesome! One thing I'm struggling with is the arpeggios. I'd appreciate it if you could make an entire video on just that!
What about arpeggios specifically? I've done one video on arpeggios so far, did you see that one?
Great video, Very useful information !
It's awesome. You play very calid.
God loves you!!!
How do you harmonize chords? I absolutely love the sound, and I really want try it!
I'd love to see more about harmonics and percussion. Those are the most challenging for me right now.
good to know. anything specific about those techniques in particular?
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy Nathan I think that would be very useful a lesson about how to do more complex accompaniments with harmonics

It's fingerstyle, pretty much classical style. Rather than playing the full chords, you'll typically play the bass note and melody simultaneously
I have a touch of arthritis in my left thumb so I had to cheat a little bit here. The last three notes I play in an open 1st position A chord shape.
I won’t gonna learn anything, but at-least I get to see you ;)
thanks for watching anyway :)
Wha wha what?

It’s still hard for me to figure out keys especially if it’s something like E minor
