Your choreography is so, so smooth as always. There’s always going to be that Monty Oum comparison, but I’d like to take a moment to talk about what I appreciate about YOUR animation and your style, mainly the camerawork itself. Monty would always play with the camera, sure, Haloid’s crowd fight is a great example, but you go absolutely apeshit with it in all of the best ways. There’s a fluidness to your animation that makes it feel like a machine churning along in a violent motion as well, something I think that gives your animation a slightly more impactful feel to it. I really, really enjoy your work here, I know for a fact that I’ll be breaking each piece of this down frame by frame for the foreseeable future, learning what makes it tick in hopes that one day I’ll be able to get even remotely close to this level of incredible work. Awesome stuff, thank you for sharing this with the world.

And we(or at least based solely on my experience and have only seen 2 people) can see where Monty flames go because of how distinct the choreography + pace?

    • @freelancerthe2561
      @freelancerthe2561 2 года назад +8

@@azrifqalim4548 Exactly. This is the kind of thing missing from popular media for most of its time in existence. You have the established norms that resist change, and can only refine at best. But once the limit is reached, thats it. And then theres experimental types. Some trying out stuff because they can, and/or trying to break away from the norms.
Monty sits at the nexus of 4 different things. Creative character designs, cinematography, editing, and choreography. Normally done by 4 different people; Monty brought the best of all 4 under one cohesive vision.
The problem with modern movie production (and by extension, most video games), is you have someone who is maybe good at one or two things, trying to tell other people how to do their jobs. A centralized vision is good, but its gonna go to waste unless all talent involved understands how to leverage the others to get the best possible results. But with so much of Hollywood, and those getting into hollywood, very ego driven; even the talented people are too busy butting heads or spinning wheels to do their best possible work.
This compounds an already critical problem of treating creative teams like farms that can churn out by the numbers results at high speed. Resulting in a whole generation of new talent being strangled to death in the cradle, as their not being taught to improve, as they're not already good enough (or at least well known enough) to be in charge.
Because of all this, most of what we watch now doesn't work to inspire a new generation of talent. Just mindless, non-offensive, easy to consume, cheap to make "content" that reliably makes money. But its those outliers, the often unconventional, that really move things forward.
Monty claim to fame isn't really raw innovation. Its the taking of multiple disciplines, and honing them to near perfection. Its in knowing that these things can be made better that inspires people to do the same. And thats what is really needed right now..... as so much of movies and shows these days are, while technically competent, are either uninspired or unexceptional in their execution.

This was AMAZING. On top of the action, the characterisation you included was really good! That fight with the dragon was actually amazing and I'm glad to have finally watched a VS Dragon battle where the dragon actually uses its unique moves and capabilities against mobile opponents while being a definite threat. You animate dragons well and I'm EAGER to see what comes next! Assuming there is a next!
This is just my personal opinion but I think it would've been more fitting for the fighting to have much slower, heavier, and mightier moves, like how the Jaegers and Kaiju are animated in 'Pacific Rim: The Black' or the Meta from 'Red vs Blue: Season 8'. Your fast and fluid choreography is amazing and there's little fault to be said about it. That said, I think the sheer speed of it fits better on your SLVR trailers, with all your lithe and wiry hunters. Here, everyone is a fridge with dishwashers for limbs. With such heavyset characters in such bulking armour and wielding massive weapons, it'd make more visual sense to have the choreography of everyone involved revolve more around slower power.
As for actual criticism, while I think the rest of the video was good in this regard, at least in the first fight on the bridge, the reds, browns, yellows, and golds that were on just about everyone and everything made more than a few details blend in. If it didn't look like everything was drenched in a red tint, a lot of details would be more visible and easier to track.
But none of this detracts from the incredible work you've done and how well characterised it all is with as few spoken lines as possible. Your ability to tell stories without words stands out really well. I commend you.

Never have I thought Warcraft could be cool...
    Until now.
Your animation is reminiscent of some of the best. You're future is amazingly bright and I hope to see your work in so many more places! Keep killing it!

This is indeed an amazing successor to that original video, I only wish it could have been made during a less turbulent time in the game's history.

I came back looking for more RWBY animations, and not being much of a fan of Warcraft expectations weren't high, but GOD DAMN! I am so glad I decided to watch this, the choreography was just a joy to watch. Genuinely one of the best animations I've seen in a long while. I can't wait for what you make next!

I'm late to seeing this, but its so nostalgic to hear about The Craft of War. One of the first animations to truly get me hype. I'd say while WoW doesn't hold that fond a memory for me anymore, this is very well done and it was very exciting to watch.

You did a great job with this. This really feels like something Monty Oum animated, and that is great.

Whether it's RWBY fanimations or other things, you're pretty damn good at what you do.
The sound design, the special effects, and hell, even the Leeroy Jenkins stuff mixed in with the action was really fun to watch! Amazing work, man!

Would love to see "The Craft of War" as a series, maybe even each done by a different creator with their own touch to it, something like Love, Death, and Robots

Man, warcraft with anime action, a fusion of some of my favorite things. Kinda reminds me of how I always imagined tales of the past or divided soul looked when I was younger. This is amazing!

Definitely one of the best WoW Machinimas, Thank You for making this!
The animation is crisp and very satisfying to watch, the music choice and even putting Leeroy in there both fit very well into it. Can't wait for part 2 or more WoW/other creations :)

Wish RT hired you or one of the other RWBY fans who know how to choreograph fights like Monty. You managed to catch the style where every scene flows from one to the other. Its so much better than their current style which has awkward pauses so characters can pose for the camera
