I really like world tour mode, but some of the gifts are nonsensical. I swear, the optimal gifts are giving stuff to people that they actually hate, again and again. Hoping and praying World Tour becomes the new standard in fighting games because when everyone was trying NRS' cinematic story mode was objectively the worst period for fighting games' single player content. I said it the other time you guys talked about it but imagine if Tekken brought back Tekken force in a similar fashion to World Tour mode, if Dead or Alive had a Zack Island hub world or something or if SEGA made something similar and have their characters actual personalities that people could discover and get more invested it so we don't have to keep on playing rereleases of VF5 forever 😂
@@chidorisnake22 Mortal kombat already did open world mode called Konquest mode in Mortal kombat deception back in 2004. And since the new mk game has been in development for 2 years it is likely that they will bring back konquest mode.
@@nothillybilly Yes, I am aware of that. That doesn't mean the exact team behind the old Konquest mode will be back with the new one. Also, WB is the publisher, so I'm sure they'll find some way to ruin it with over-monetization or whatever. The best version of Alpha was Hyper Street Fighter Alpha on the Alpha Collection. You could play every different version of the character, all the ISMs, true Street Fighter II modes for those characters, Versus series versions of certain characters (Dark Sakura could be used, Akuma, Ken, Ryu, Bison had MvC fireballs, etc). It'd blow my mind if a good Dead or Alive released, or a Soul Calibur, or an MvC, or a Bloody Roar, or a...
The extra costumes included in ultimate edition will be for the 4 DLC characters. If u want the costumes for the 18 base roster characters u can either grind World Tour or pay $20 which gives u enough fight coins to buy all 18 like I did.
My biggest flaw with the game is in World Tour. You can't put two special moves that have the same motion on your movelist, which makes sense for moves that literally have the same input like Air Slash and Sonic Boom, but it doesn't make sense that I can't have both Shoryuken and Dragonlash Kick on my character because they share a motion, even though they come from the same character and they use different buttons. It really feels like a glaring design flaw if not an oversight that I hope they change sometime soon. Other than that the game's amazing, 10/10 would Sumo Headbutt again.
I love World Tour. SFV didn't do me any favors in liking Luke, but I gotta say that SF6 has me really liking his personality and relating to him quite a bit. I didn't think I'd ever get swayed into liking him or his fighting style, but Capcom did it! That goes the same for all of them characters. there's so much "character" to them now, and it's gonna be hard to enjoy buying a new fighting game without a mode like this to come with it. I love Tekken, and T8 is gonna be awesome, but they really need to start developing their characters like SF6 does.
ST came out for the first time for the 3DO, which I'm amazed Matt hasn't done a What Happened about yet. It was a damn good port as well, way better than the PS1 version. And it also had a fantastic remix of the arcade ost, that afaik has never been re-released elsewhere.
They literally said that's what happened. the same thing happened with strive, too actually. (Goldlewis was supposed to be base roster but wasn't finished in time)
One of the biggest problems is really the monetization system, I feel there should be more ways for you to get coins naturally in the game, and even if you buy coins, they should be in the same numbers as the costumes, so you get the exact amount, not over that, that's just a predatory practice
U know, I love the interaction between these three guys and I love the content but man, I hit the like button when Justin starts talking about Manscaped 😂.
The Ultimate version of Mortal Kombat 11 did get a 90+ score, but yeah other than that and Smash the last game to get a 90+ score on Metacritic was Super Street Fighter IV and then it's still only Tekken 3, base Street Fighter IV, Alpha 3, SoulCalibur, SoulCalibur II, Dead or Alive 2, Virtua Fighter 4 and Evolution so for Street Fighter 6 to join this very elite list is commendable and also very well deserved!
it's criminal that Tekken 5 didn't join 90s MC club I think that game deserve 91 or 92 score because how the game bring the series back to its root after failed experiment that they did on Tekken 4
So I love sf6. (Update: gamestop pre-order code for the costumes was separate to the deluxe edition code). Now that I figured out the preorder bonus, I have no complaints it’s my favorite street fighter by far (since I’ve only played since 4) Also glad to hear Matt’s having so much fun with World Tour, totally on the same page, it’s great!
Maximising bond level is absolutely faster than maxing the style level. Once you’ve finished the story you can earn money from higher level minigames then buy the characters preferred gifts and you’re done. There are lists of the items and where to find them. I’ve earned so much money throughout the world tour mode that I can buy like 5 costumes without needing to do anything extra.
I grew up with Tekken so yeah, having a game launch with less than 30 characters will always feel kinda weird, but like Max said, each one of them feels like special care has been put into crafting every single one of them so that more than makes up for it. Selling a Season 1 pass at 50€ is bordering early DOA5 seasons though so I fear Capcom might attempt to push the limit to 60€ and 70€ passes and that's not good
It's the unfortunate reality of the development cycle. Tekken has the luxury of being able to reuse assets, specifically animation data, for years now. Mostly due to Tekken's visual style never really changing at all. They can afford to release tons of characters on-release because of it. Street Fighter, meanwhile, evolves in visual style every new numbered entry, meaning almost every animation has to be redone from scratch. The snappy animation in SF4/SF5 fits its more cartoony artstyle, but would feel really weird for SF6's more realistic visual style. But that being said, we can only speculate on whether Capcom would change SF7's artstyle again or stick with SF6's years from now. It would definitely lessen the workload required if they can reuse assets.
@@runbaa9285 this could be true. Namco did say that they are doing (almost) everything from scratch this time though and they also added a playfully shady "we will have more characters available at launch than our competitors" 🤣 SNK is also quite often doing everything from scratch and KOF is always full of characters I think it's mostly a design philosophy thing. As early as SFII Capcom kept releasing revised versions of each game, treating them as a new game, selling it at full price and adding a few new characters each time, whereas Namco releases one new version of Tekken each time and that's it (with the exception of Tekken 5) before Tekken 7 we never had to pay for DLC characters either.
SF6 is just perfect game. I love it so much ! 😍 And I think 18 characters is a really great roster when you realise how much effort the devs have put into the game.
This game makes me feel like I'm playing 3rd Strike. That is the highest praise I can give a fighting game. The only problem is that my 3rd Strike muscle memory has me hitting forward on the stick to parry. That has gotten me killed quite a few times.
So in the gallery menu, it has a retro game category for the arcade games available to play in the battle hub. It says I don't have any acquired. I'm assuming I can do so to play them at any time? How? Maybe this is a stupid question, just curious
So, in the SF6 web manual, it mentions that the retro arcade games will be earned from the "fighting pass". At current, the only campaign so far is the runback campaign linking your SFV info to SF6 so that you can get Super SF2 Turbo (and an assortment of titles from the SFV cast). For now, the only way to play the retro games are from the Battle Hub.
I didn't like the modern controls at first as it felt so awkward and limiting, but after struggling with classic controls it is such a lifesaver! Sad to admit, but I can definitely tell that my reflexes and input commands aren't as sharp as they used to, so it's nice to have a little support
To each their own, I guess. Alpha 2 does have great music but Alpha 3 is superior, I think because the various new character themes which are some real bangers. Rose, Chun-Li, Cammy, and Ryu's themes come to mind, just to name a few. I totally agree that Chun-Li costume bundles bolstered a lot of funding of SFV's continued development. And yeah, I bought them all upon release.
The first time I lost against a Marisa was me trying to grab her out of her counter but I ended up getting countered because I tried to throw. I have never felt so confused and defeated playing Street Fighter until now and it's insane
45:00 Actually, you just go straight to Beat Square (usually where you spawn via fast travel) in Metro City and talk to the "Infooencer" and he's right next to the taxi. While the mission marker on the map is not there for whatever reason, he is there, then you just answer the first selection a couple times, and that's how you clear the "What It Means to Be Strong" mission. Its not a DLC quest though, but the endgame one that Matt mentioned. But yeah, outside of DLC character "Masters" down the line with their own fetch quests and all. The endgame grind mostly is just to max out the base roster in Styles, Bonds, and your avatar's character level.
I don’t think the alternate costumes are that bad. If you play through the whole story you can easily afford the gifts to max out most of the characters (or at least the ones I cared about). However, it does seem weird that wasn’t included in the ultimate edition, or any fighter coins at all.
Some of these will turn heads but some oddball characters I'd like to see return as playable fighters include Q, G, Rufus, Sodom, Birdie, Cracker Jack, Retsu, Hugo, Poison, R. Mika, Laura, and Ibuki. Balrog and Vega should be there as well but I'm pretty sure they're guaranteed.
Cammy is my favorite non-Final Fight SF character to play and usually my main, and I've quadruple downed on her being my main in SF6 man. I love her in 6
All this about world tour makes me want to see Abel brought back. Since the main problem with this character (if not the only one) is his lack of personality. And that's something that can be fixed easily just by explaining that after the fall of S.I.N, Shadaloo and all that being behind him, he got to get a life, experience things, and developed more of a personality. And with the way SF6 is doing characterisation, this would be the perfect time to do that. I'm also curious about how some of the weirdest characters like Gill or Seth would be. The possibility are vast. 1e
I guess the ranks will take some time to settle in, I picked bronze equivalent for placement matches and got put in Bronze 4, immediately lost all my league points to people on 30 win streaks, or just characters I'm still learning how to fight. It's likely to be kind of volatile while people are just entering the system and under/overestimating their skill. But I noticed that ranking down isn't nearly as stressful as before, didn't noticed any big downward arrow making me feel bad, which I really appreciate
The character I want more than any in sf6 is Dudley. His usual kit + whatever new toys they'd give him + the system mechanics would all go so crazy together
One point I would like to make is that what Matt said about the shaking I think is slightly wrong actually. The only NPCs who shake when they see you are enemy NPCs and even if they are low level they will attack you if you have not beaten them yet. After beating any enemy NPC they actively avoid you but still talk smack. I think the reason that there is a bit of a misunderstanding is that the game resets NPCs you beat so you can fight them again and only enemy NPCs give you a different response because you have beaten them.
I should note that it was only the complete edition we’re Mortal Kombat got to the high 80s. For X & 11, they only got 83 & 82 respectively on Metacritic.
I just beat World Tour. It gets like an A+ for effort and ambition and maybe a B- in terms of execution. Matt is completely right in that it endeared me to all these characters I didnt know much about and ones I also didnt care for (like Cammy, Juri). I think its Main Mission design could be improved - some missions feel half baked and underwhelming . I was surprised how thematically dark the story gets. I also wonder - if like previous Street Fighter series - if World Tour is the First Part of the SF6 story. And if future DLC will actually further the story rather than simply add new Masters to train under. Like maybe every Season we'll get a substantial update with a couple of major story missions post the events of WT.
I hope Damnd actually gets upgraded to a fully fledged character in future DLC. People want Poison, Guy, Cody, Abigail etc but they should bring back Final Fight characters that haven't had a chance in the Spotlight Imagine a Level 3 where Damnd whistles and your opponent gets beat up by Mad Gear thugs as he watches - then he comes in for the final kick in the face. Then they could very easily update his character model into the Real Time Cutscenes and tweak his boss fight with new moves. Also add a Master programme later on in the story.
55:40 honestly that's why I have cammy as a secondary. She has cool combos and whatever but the personality in world tour sold me on her. The main is ken because he is ken but cammy is definitely the second character I played the most so far all thanks to World Tour. Even got the costumes through it
I've had Street Fighter 6 for a week and as a literal lifelong Street Fighter fan, it's everything I want in a Street Fighter game. Cammy is my main and I'm holding on my own online. Can't wait to play this in tournaments!
The problem with metacritic is that its a bunch of casuals and non fighting game players rating the games. So of course they arent going to rate the games high because they would rather be playing zelda or something.
I HIGHLY disagree with putting Oufit 2 on the mastery instead of the bond. I looked up what Guile's +5 gift was and I bought 20 of them before I met him, so when I got to that point in the game, I gave him all 20 and maxed out the bond level and got Outfit 2 without doing a single Flash Kick...
I'm coming from 3S and the other pixel SF's like Alpha/VS series (I skipped SF4-5). Ryu felt the most familiar and was my bridge even though I'm a Ken main. Ken's so different he was too jarring. Now I'm getting comfortable with Kimberly, who's got a ton of Ibuki (3S) and Guy (Alpha) in her. It makes me wonder what Ibuki or Guy would be like if introduced in a future DLC since Kimberly got a ton of those moves. Edited to add: don't sleep on Kimberly's alternate outfit. It's mega-1990's and hits the nostalgia for sure. Starting to feel at home w/ SF6.
I haven’t been this enthusiastic about a SF game since 3rd Strike. Really despised how SF IV & V looked and played. You can tell how much the FGC seems to enjoy playing this entry
Just wanna correct Matt for comment scrollers: It took me 66 hours and I've only maxed 4 styles. It took me twenty minutes to get four costumes. I have them all and it didn't take very long at all

Nobody is as weird or interesting as he is. I feel about Dhalsim exactly like Justin does regarding Manon, and it's extremely frustrating. I'm hoping Aki changes my mind when she drops, or I find something with someone already in the list to replace him. I like Dhalsim, but I don't want to main him, and that feels very, very weird.

My only fear is that it'll become just like the NRS story era in which everyone tries to mimic World Tour but in a terrible fashion. 😂
I never played NRS games story mode. I just watch them on RUclips. World Tour is sooooooo much better and so much fun!!
I hope I'm wrong, but considering how recently and how often we've been burned by WB, I doubt I am.
Nah let World Tour be Street Fighter's staple, I don't want every fighting game to be the same.
Bring that back!
Yep I had that on PS2!! I also had the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection when it was released.
Bond level is WAY easier to do once you know what gift gives 5 points
I need another 3 hours minimum of you guys just talking about SF6 😭 can’t get enough of the game
I'll try and make this short and sweet.
"StreetFighter 6 has a World Tour mode, custom characters and outfits, a cabinet hub... It's released in a 100% working and complete state... _What does your game have?"_
It can only be good for fighting game fans if this is the new bar, the new standard this generation. Tekken and Mortal Kombat are looking good... I just hope some of the old favourites follow suit. It'd blow my mind if a good Dead or Alive released, or a Soul Calibur, or an MvC, or a Bloody Roar, or a...
The only thing that’s a down for me is the unlocks of colors and outfits. They didn’t have to be so thrifty with it and I bought the ultimate edition
Hopefully the fighters pass dishes out more tickets so I don’t feel bad about buying a color
Ultimate Edition definitely should have unlocked outfit 2 right off the bat. Pretty crazy that it doesn't.
I love Tekken, and T8 is gonna be awesome, but they really need to start developing their characters like SF6 does.
they do have a final fight charcter in the world tour mode, its Carlos Miyamoto he looks so badass in nthe game too.
I wanted him to be playable in 4 and 5 but at least this time I know he'll never be in it from day one
One mission let's u fight Thrasher Damn'd, the 1st stage boss from Final Fight.
ST came out for the first time for the 3DO, which I'm amazed Matt hasn't done a What Happened about yet.
It was a damn good port as well, way better than the PS1 version. And it also had a fantastic remix of the arcade ost, that afaik has never been re-released elsewhere.
jwong giving us meme template possibilities with that green screen LUL
Each new cut should feature a different bootleg version of SF 2, getting more and more ridiculous each time! 😂
You can tell how much they love this game by how they have to try hard not to over talk each other.
1:18:21 the season 1 DLC feels like they should have been a part of the base roster but weren't completed on time.
They literally said that's what happened. the same thing happened with strive, too actually. (Goldlewis was supposed to be base roster but wasn't finished in time)
I can imagine Ed being planned for launch. Until then, the game always had at least one boxer on launch.
30:22 - "That's it, I've had it with these motherf**king dinos in this motherf**king crisis!"
Im really enjoying how much cool art this game gives you.
Especially the Cammy artwork 🌚
One of the biggest problems is really the monetization system, I feel there should be more ways for you to get coins naturally in the game, and even if you buy coins, they should be in the same numbers as the costumes, so you get the exact amount, not over that, that's just a predatory practice
Very “Dark” says Matt. I remember it as a very prestigious year. Life changing one could say…
Which "side" do you Phil he would be talking about ? Umm sorry feel.
Kinda wish they'd actually address it but I guess they didn't want to give DSP anymore attention than he deserves.
@@kratosgow342 right? It still got a good score but come on 😔
i feel so sorry for the new kids on sf6 but its like a ruthless dude once said "you gon learn today!!"
The greatest thing about SF6 is the future of Marisa cosplays. #deathbysnusnu
So I love sf6. (Update: gamestop pre-order code for the costumes was separate to the deluxe edition code). Now that I figured out the preorder bonus, I have no complaints it’s my favorite street fighter by far (since I’ve only played since 4)
Also glad to hear Matt’s having so much fun with World Tour, totally on the same page, it’s great!
I think the extra colors only apply to the DLC characters coming out later. It doesn't say anything about extra colors for the base roster.
So you’re right, the color 10 set was a pre-order bonus, that I had to enter separately to the deluxe edition code.
Matt, when's Crymetina Critiques SF6?
Namco did say that they are doing (almost) everything from scratch this time though and they also added a playfully shady "we will have more characters available at launch than our competitors" 🤣 SNK is also quite often doing everything from scratch and KOF is always full of characters
I think it's mostly a design philosophy thing.
11:11 i understood that VERY DARK reference, Matt
It really has been fun game to play.
SF6 is just perfect game. I love it so much ! 😍
And I think 18 characters is a really great roster when you realise how much effort the devs have put into the game.
This game makes me feel like I'm playing 3rd Strike. That is the highest praise I can give a fighting game. The only problem is that my 3rd Strike muscle memory has me hitting forward on the stick to parry. That has gotten me killed quite a few times.
It should feel like 3rd strike because this takes place 5 years after that. Both SF4 and 5 took place after SF2 but before SF3 as far as the timeline.
I love my copy of SF6. Its great to lab again.
I didn't like the modern controls at first as it felt so awkward and limiting, but after struggling with classic controls it is such a lifesaver! Sad to admit, but I can definitely tell that my reflexes and input commands aren't as sharp as they used to, so it's nice to have a little support
Congrats to J Wong for getting Master with Manon!
Today in World Tour mode, after nearly 60 hours, I found a HIGHLY unexpected and very awesome secret boss character.
who!!!!
Twitch Rivals Tournament in few hours
Funniest part was Justin saying he only eats organic food.
Akuma bout to be the only master with a burner phone.
Been into fighting games for over 10 years and watched Matt for almost as long… why only today am I being shown that this podcast exists!?
I love how Devo was mentioned long before SF 6 haha
Max talking about ping of 250 - Me who lives in New Zealand "Yeah, 250 ping... That would be crazy to play at..."
This game is the best apology for sfv's launch. Capcom learned from past mistakes.
GOD BLESS THE RING 🥹
Erhgeiz? Lol
I don’t think the alternate costumes are that bad. If you play through the whole story you can easily afford the gifts to max out most of the characters (or at least the ones I cared about). However, it does seem weird that wasn’t included in the ultimate edition, or any fighter coins at all.
It was kind of annoying how secret they are but the special gifts that give you plus 50 bond points really make getting the secondary outfits easier
How did I not know this channel existed until just now? Brilliant!
First time finding out about this channel, how the hell did i not know about this. 3 legends in 1 channel, awesome!
Matt saying things got "really DARK" with Super Tuber haha.
Love the little jab.
11:12 HA! true, that Evo certainly showed a Dark Syde to the event.
Justin: "Ryu. Classic Ryu."
I hope Damnd actually gets upgraded to a fully fledged character in future DLC.
People want Poison, Guy, Cody, Abigail etc but they should bring back Final Fight characters that haven't had a chance in the Spotlight
Imagine a Level 3 where Damnd whistles and your opponent gets beat up by Mad Gear thugs as he watches - then he comes in for the final kick in the face.
Then they could very easily update his character model into the Real Time Cutscenes and tweak his boss fight with new moves. Also add a Master programme later on in the story.
idk if people want abigail...
I love the first example for the alt costume is Cammy, everyone wants to go for it first
I liked world tour a lot more then I thought I would.

Im going to need to study Justin's Manon, I start playing her today and she's a ton of fun it's just annoying how much people spam jabs against her.
Interesting that Dee Jay’s drive rush is so fast because his forward and back dash were so damn slow in SF4
Guys I need some help, how do I make high scores in the Junkyard minigame?
Thanks in advance!
55:40 honestly that's why I have cammy as a secondary. She has cool combos and whatever but the personality in world tour sold me on her. The main is ken because he is ken but cammy is definitely the second character I played the most so far all thanks to World Tour. Even got the costumes through it
Sucky that Street Fighter 6 doesn’t have African servers but still been enjoying it. Keen to see you in South Africa for Red Bull Kumite Justin!
We're getting Ed, we need Edi's first 2D playable appearance, then a new character named Edd.
Tuned in right on time for the manscaped add... yes!
1:08:23 - definitely filters… 👀
Edit: Max immediately says filtering options 😅
Funny thing is that Exoprimals setup seems to be a reworked version of the original version of Dino Crisis 3.
I have them all and it didn't take very long at all
This podcast is so much fun. I could click on a video, and they talk about something unrelated for a while. And I wouldn’t mind at all.
Matt's Bryan Laugh😂 is almost perfect.
