Thanks for the info Jason it has helped me tremendously. After being a framing contractor for 6 years (and I absolutely knew nothing when I started I mean I couldn’t read a tape measured so I started from 0) I received an opportunity to become a salaried Assistant Superintendent. Although I was very nervous about the switch I found your channel within the first week. I am now 2 months in and despite every day being a new challenge, working in this 106 degree Texas heat i absolutely love the switch that I made. Currently part of a massive data mining project, what’s funny is that because I come home “clean” every day my wife thinks I don’t work hard anymore lol. Your videos have helped me ease into this new transition I cannot thank you enough!

Hey Jason. You rock! Keep slipping in those like requests. I always like when I hear and honestly forget often on other channels that also add value.

    Great points.
I’m out in Vancouver B.C. One of the most expensive cities in North America.
Our salary band for an assistant superintendent ranges from 65k - 85k USD
Superintendents can range from 95k - 125k USD

Do you think that you should factor in vehicle allowance and gas card when figuring your overall salary?
Does the 55-75k you mentioned for salary include gas card and vehicle allowance? Or is the entry level person making 55-75k and then getting the gas card and vehicle allowance on top of this.
    Thanks

Hensel Phelps is a tough company to work at and I don’t mean that in a bad way. They self perform a LOT of work.

If I have worked for 2 years in my country as a field engineer, where do you think it would be better to start here in the US, internship or entry level positions?

Good morning Jason. I have a question off topic from this, this is you most recent upload so I'll ask it here, hopefully to get a quicker response. This concerns takt planing and whether it can be applied to heavy road construction , DOT work?

    (French Canadian here )
    Thanks for the good videos.
I’ve been cad designer and site supervisor for 6 years (civil 3D) on road projects for a civil engineering firm. Im entering a new role for a paving compagny as PM . I opted for this offer since they were willing to give me a chance with no management experience and they didn’t require to be engineer, I have civil engineering college degree. They offer a new car with everything paid , they have good reputation and offer a lot of good education. I’ll get bonuses and stocks 1/1 and retirement plan 3%/3% . So after considering all of the package it seems even. But I’ll probably be working a lot more. I’m highly motivated. I would have made 96k $ CA this year ( about 44h/week) as cad designer.
I think I’m doing the right thing since I felt stuck in growth opportunity and I’m a passionate devoted person at work and a great team player .
Is there a big difference in salary between PM as pavement subcontractor and overall PM of a big civil project? Just wondering what my long term goal should be if I want to be a more valuable PM in the long run ( they have multiple divisions where I could eventually get promoted ) it’s a international civil construction company
    Thanks again

@@kevinsavard2681 there typically is a lot of money to be made to switch to the GC but it depends. I think you are on the right track. Once you have good experience in your current role you can explore salaries in other opportunities. Good luck and good job. You’re doing great.
