Agreed. with that said you prompted me to check my patches and of the two I applied on March 06/2020 of the 8. I trimmed one of the corners back then to prevent it from fraying but the rest have held up nicely.
Much cleaner than my fix all Shoe Goo and material from an old pack. Shoe Goo is nice for shoes because it doesn't melt when walking over hot lava. Your feet will burn first. These videos you make are great.
Thanks Bryan, for liability reasons we can not recommend walking over hot lava ;) In all seriousness there is another product Gear Aid makes for seam sealing that is also ideal for shoe type fixes. The only issue and why I have not made a video for it, is the ease of use. I need to master the 'mess' aspect of it first.
@@ShimodaDesigns That tape seems just fine. When lava spatters would burn holes in my new expensive rain gear I'd use a spot of shoe goo and clear packing tape. I would have rather had this tape you used. Still shoe goo plus the tape. I stopped buying expensive rain gear :-)
The biggest delamination risk from this kind of repair is a corner lifting... I always cut the corners at 45 degrees or a radius, this reduces any risk of peeling to almost nil. Good video👍🏼
That's a great point with great timing. The clear piece (starting with the corner) actually peeled off yesterday. I thought it might due to it's plastic-like texture - but surprised it held so long. It was originally applied on March 6 2020 - , it peeled on Jan 19, 2021. So- 9 months. I am nearly certain the current extreme cold temps we are in where I live - influenced it. The nylon is as good as new. - Ian
Nice but what do you suggest for a nylon puffer jacket? The jacket has a small tear about 2,5cm and I wanna put some tenacious tape inside the fabric so as not to be seen. What type of tenacious tape is the best?
You can but only in areas that do not have lining. I would image it will be a comprise of the products effectiveness because it is not covering the actual tear or puncture (it is just holding it together). WIth that said I have read it being used successfully on the underside of a thin jacket.

It would be great if I had a bag to maintain but it hasn't arrived yet and nobody seems to be responding to the messages from disgruntled customers on your Kickstarter page.
Another good tip, cut rounded edges on your tape to avoid it getting snagged and pulling up

Love these maintenance series videos!!! Already lubed up my zippers with chapstick & waiting for my Nikwax to arrive from Amazon.
Thanks Ryan. Glad to hear it.
