@@lucieloves2000 --- I agree 100%, I was 20 in 1977. I was in a band then, owned a 1977 Corvette loaded, lived in my own place, had a motorcycle, money... what a fantastic time to be single & on your own, I wish I would have smelled the roses more!
This was just G-damn good music, period. Ass kickin, guitar pickin, keyboard lickin, lyrical clickin southern rock. Damn we had great music in the 70s. I wouldn't have wanted to grow up in any other era.
Even for a "California Boy" like myself, ARS is one of my favorite bands Of ALL TIME. RIP guys. We just lost Dean Daughtry in Jan 2023 so all the boys on this track are up Jammin' with the big guy. God is probably asking "Does it mean what I think it means"? 🤔 😝 LONG LIVE ARS. GLAD I WAS ABLE TO BE AROUND TO WITNESS THEIR MAGIC. Truly an underappreciated band due to the tag "Southern Rock".
I think saying they were under rated minimizes them. They were a part of so many lives growing up in the 70's and 80's. I still love them. Passing the test of time proves to me they were not under rated. ❤️
RIP Ronnie Hammond, and all the other Southern Rock "Brothers of the Road" who left us too soon: Danny Joe Brown and Duane Roland of Molly Hatchet, the Caldwell brothers of Marshall Tucker, Jakson Spires of Blackfoot, damn near all of Skynyrd's best known members, Berry & Duane from the Allmans, Hughie Thomasson of Skynyrd and the Outlaws, Billy Jones of the Outlaws . . . someone should do a tribute video for all the deceased Southern Rockers. Raise the Stars 'n' Bars high!!!
These guys were so darn good. And I was so THANKFUL for southern rock back in the 70s. Between disco, the soft 70s pop rock and the emergence of punk, there needed to be something good to listen to and that was southern rock...... And then came the 80s.
Now we just lost Robert Nix original drummer for ARS & on 9/5/12 Joe South passed! Talking about Rocken' Roll Heaven you know they have a hellva band!! RIP!!
Que talentos de aquellos momentos jamás se olvidarán buenas rolas buenos intérpretes de lo que hoy no se ve ni se escucha saludos para los conocedores de la buena música
One of the best bands to come out of the 70's hands down !!! These guys made magic!!! All I can say is wow!!! Just like I said back when I first heard them.
First time I heard this song was around 1978 late night where the only time WGBS from Miami could be heard , and I had to chase this song over and over till I could make it mine, because it truly was a " midnight fantasy " . . .what a song. .40 years later still at the top of the chart
I grew up in the 70s and listened to this on the radio when it was new. I recently went back and listened to their entire catalogue and found there were some treasures there that I had previously missed. I plan on getting everything the original lineup put out. A must for any rock’n rollers’ collection.
Well Lynyrd Skynyrd has it all , rock blues and they are the #1 best, Fleetwood Mac is 2nd and you are omitting: Eddie Money, the Steve Miller Band, but I would include this band in the top ten line up , singer is great!
I was 19 when this came out. Great Hits. Molly Hatchet came out with flirting with disaster and blew that year away. RIP. Nice list but dont forget stevie ray vaughn and Lonesome Dave Privet of FoGHAT..
Even for a "California Boy" like myself, ARS is one of my favorite bands Of ALL TIME. RIP guys. We just lost Dean Daughtry in Jan 2023 so all the boys on this track are up Jammin' with the big guy. Sigmund Freud would be really proud of these boys lol. This is a great tune. I liked it when I was a kid and had no idea what in world they were talking about. It's just great music.
As a shy teen in the late 70's and early 80's who couldn't get any dates this song used used to punch me right in the gut every time I heard it. But I love it.
I played in a very short lived band with Robert Nix who wrote or co wrote Imaginary lovers. He told me it was about a blowup doll that had special bladder features. Whether it was true or not doesn't matter...what a great story! We put binkin bottoms on our blow up doll and hung her behind the drummer wearing our band T-shirts for sale. It was awesome! She rode with me in the equipment van and made a hellva cup holder (use your imagination lover) while driving. This was an old van! Unfortunately she turned into a pop star and we couldn't patch her anymore. Now if that ain't rock n roll...I don't know what is...Spinal Tap would undrrstand! Keep rockin' and be safe my fellow road dogs! ✌
I still have this on a cassette I bought back in the 70s. Back then I could identify with this song. I had nobody, so I invented an imaginary girlfriend and named her I. Madge N. Airy. No kidding.
Being 16. With my girlfriend. In the back seat my car. Both nude. Having this song on the radio. Oh my. Talk about hot summer nights.😂 I guess that's why they call'em flashbacks. I mean all night. Windows fogged up. I hope the batterys not dead.😂😂❤ Yea good song.
We had the chance to hear a lot of those fantastic songs from mostly radio called Chom fm in Montreal ,Quebec,Canada .thanks a lot for such good talented musicians ,from the Beatles from Europe to America bands .the 70s we're at their top
"I have to imagine - nobody loves me this time I have to imagine - nobody loves me this time" sung so plaintively, emphasizing the disconnect between fantasy and reality, but often the imagined qualities of a lover are better.
That's not the lyric. It's driving me nuts as I can't work it out. I've seen it as 'I have imagined no one in love last night', which is also wrong. Can anyone tell me the right lyrics?
I saw ARS in concert this weekend. The guy in this video is definately not the lead singer of the band touring now. Why can't guys my age be sexy like him?
update to Ronnie Hammond status. Ronnie is no longer singing with ARS, but left several years ago to join Voices of Rock and Andy Anderson has now taken over the lead singer responsibilities. Not the same as Ronnie but still passable. Ronnie Hammond is truly one of the great voices of the southern rock genre.
makes you feel sorry for young people today whose idea of "music' is rap. So sad. We, who grew up in this era dont realize how lucky we were.
growing up in this era is kiling me every day. I fucking can't stand it
Nothing like those times, before or since.... I turned 20 that year. The memories are still as vivid now, as they were then.

Thank god my parents taught me classics. Proud 17y.o.
Thank God I grew up with this music. You can never go wrong. Today's music doesn't belong on the same radio station as these classics
Record company executives don't know shit about good music.
Your so right Brother....
Still listening to my 70s and 80s music in 2023 .
Anybody else here
2024❤❤❤❤❤
a terribly underrated and under appreciated band!
This is really not a band. It’s a group of session musicians. This song is about jerking off.
@@kevinschwinkendorf1504 Dang, when I saw them perform back in the 70's, I thought they were a band, Silly me.
@@TMac-bt5qr LOL!
@@kevinschwinkendorf1504 They were a studio band that realized they could do better than the acts they recorded for.
And that’s an understatement 👍😉
Can't imagine life without this Spectacular Southern Rock Vibe!!!!! Still sounds out of this world!!!!!!

Right on!

I agree with 💯
They may have had only about Five or Six songs to hit the Radio in the 70's, but they were playing on a loop. Love em.....
Yeah Ronnie had the hair going for him and he had the voice. One of the best 70's groups ever.

Definitely one of the great voices of that time.
i missed the 70's so much...

🎵 of interest, intelligence and soul. Oh yeah! 57 yrs old now and baby I feel these songs!
Rest in peace ronnie and thank you for your contribution to my soundtrack
I always thought it was "imagine every lover"!
I totally agree! The late sixties and seventies where the best. On the African American, Motown was priceless. " Pull up your pants!
😎This is one of the best ways to describe it. Yeah. This is the cure for a very broken heart.
I do. I miss those years
I did some soundboard mixes in Covington GA with their soundboard guy, he sadly passed from cancer.
LOVE this song!!! Thanks for posting!!

been looking for this song a long time,,i was 20,,then
Luv these guys! 🤩😘❤💯
Hi..come to see my rock content!
So lucky to have seen them at the wolfden mS
They just don't make songs like this. The 70S were the best decade for this kind of music.we had a blast.
