Awesome. So much nostalgia… I’ve been really intrigued by Horizon XI and seriously considering playing it. How much panic were you going through in this fight? 🤣 RDM was my first ever job on XI and Maat was a huge shock.
You should give it a go, it's quite good. I wasn't too concerned, I did this fight about year ago on Limitbreak and a couple years ago on Eden, so I was fortunate enough to know what to expect. As long as you have mp for bind/sleep and refresh up you can salvage just about anything.
What does “negate WHM mp” mean? I was so confused by that part of the video. Well done though! I only saw you silence once, did just last the entire fight?? I’ve watched several RDM Maat videos but this is the first HorizonXI one, would you say the fight was easier in horizon or you just made it look easier lol? This was def one of the smoothest of the bunch
Horizon's maat fight (at time of fight and when commenting) is bugged. If you use food it unlocks subjob, which I did twice this fight. I realized I had WHM sub when I divine sealed out of habit. Having DS and WHM sub in general is an advantage, so I used Cure3 instead of Cure4 and followed up with some extra sneak/invise to cancel out extra mp I saved from DS+subjob. As for silence, unresisted it lasts 2 minutes. So I only had to cast it twice. The fight is fairly accurate from what I can tell, its not a difficult fight if you know what to expect and have capped skills.
I still have my screenshots from FFXI. Dec 17, 09 (so long ago now, yeesh)... my RDM Maat fight, where the poor guy never even got to leave the inner circles of the arena, because of Gravity, Bind, Sleep. Chainspell nuke Aero III from the arena ledge. 😂 Good times.
Yeah gravity definitely a go to for this fight to eliminate chance of getting asuran'd. Unfortunately gravs bugged on horizon at the moment and doesnt slow down their movement speed so I didn't bother with it
This is technically ashita. I played around with it and found In game stuff is significantly more laborious to update/maintain. I can use regex/sed to update many sets at once via files and can adjust to levels by running a bat file I made, its kind of a whole thing. Also worth noting this is the same macrobooks (entire USER folder really) from retail era. I'll likely switch to luashitacast or something similar at some point. The echos are from me erroneously using my no-gear swap set.

Did you train on Ruby Quadav in that dungeon?
FYI gravity now works, so definitely use it.
I didn’t know you could set up macros like that, that’s pretty cool
Its neat for sure, really helps to increase what you have available on tap.
You can use subjob abilities such as DS on Maat?? Is that a horizon change?
You cant. See my other comments, there was a bug with eating food early on in the server that has since been fixed.
you get to keep yoursubjob for the maat fight in horizon or does rdm get divine seal?
its a bug on horizon a the moment, see my other comments
I used cure 3 and spammed nonsense after covert to negate WHM mp to some degree.

@@_arch Oh yikes. 😫 I hear there's all sorts of strange bugs on Horizon. Pretty harsh to have Gravity down for the time being.
I see you used divine seal, I guess the fight was still broken when you did it, Maat on easy mode.
I commented that I used C3 and spammed sneak/deodorize to burn mp combat that. Doesn't really change the fight in any notable way.
@@_arch I wasn't calling you out, I dont care you had sub. Kinda weird you said you compensated for it but you used divine seal tho.
used it out of habit then tried to adjust
No need to do gear scripts via windower any more. Can use the in game gear sets and swap between gears sets. Grats on win.

I played back when all you had was macros to switch gear nothing else had to press hella button
