The guy talking to terry should be a hostage negotiator
Just a good friend. "You got it out? Ok!? You're done.?"
I know! I loved that moment! 😂
Now this is an ump I actually like
lmaooo, brilliant
I have so much more respect for Terry Collins now!!! He went in!!!!!
That mic'd up was legendary. What an amazing umpire.
Nick Devitt what an amazing fucking micd up dude still everytime I watch it gives me fuckingggggggg chilllllllls bro
Best mic'd up ever
@@joshsansoucie5074 Nah the best mic'd up was the legendary rant of Earl Weaver. It was amazing to hear all the "inside baseball" though. (pun intended I guess)
I agree he understood that Utley needed to be hit but also that the pitcher had to go and mlb doesn't want brawls during the playoffs
May someone explain to me what that was all about?
“terry, terry, TERRY! TERRY! TALK TO ME!!!!”
Best micd up moment ever
What was the situation?
He was trying to reason with Terry. Those umpires go thru a lot. MLB has got to eliminate throwing at guys and get stiff suspensions on it. Someone will end up losing their life when a fast ball clock em in the head.
That really makes me wish that they mic'ed up more umps
I felt like that was excellent umpiring
Terry Collins is a rage monster 😂
"old school baseball mentality" - when u hit a home run, u can't celebrate it at the plate.
Also "old school baseball mentality" - attempted aggravated assault as retaliation is entirely validated.
Getting hit with a ball is not “attempted aggravated assault”
@@devildog3606 throwing a solid object 90+ mph at someone's head is.
Jared T oh ya your right I didn’t think about that part of it also wouldn’t it be just aggravated assault not attempted aggravated assault
And why can the pitcher celebrate after striking someone out but batter can’t celebrate when he hits a home run?
@@jackpaine784 yeah no celebrating say the mound
The crew chief in the Mets game was fantastic...the guy handled that situation as well as I've ever seen...you could tell the players and manager all respected him...plus the guy protected his young umpire in a professional way...kudos to him on a job well done
I umpired when I was younger, and one of the big things was sticking with your call/fellow umpires calls. You could tell he didn't necessarily agree with the call, but he had his partner's back.
Wow that was amazing.
It was still a trash call for throwing out a pitcher for not hitting someone, when the night before they didn't even punish a guy for blatantly leaving the base path and actually injuring someone. That ended the second baseman's season with a broken leg and not only did the runner not get punished, he was rewarded by not even being called "out" at second.
The next day, without any warning to either team, they toss a pitcher for "not hitting someone" with a pitch.
@@DasKrug Regardless of the call that the home plate umpire made, the crew chief that came in to protect his young partner handled the situation perfectly...kudos to him
@@crmsntyde4ever428 I don't disagree with that sentiment at all, I just think that it never had to escalate to that point to begin with, a warning is usually customary and should have been the route taken.
If a pitcher can celebrate a strikeout then a batter should be able to watch a home run
Honestly I feel like baseball pitchers are some of the biggest divas in pro sports
Guillen did it on purpose to weaver because someone hit one against him earlier in the game and couldn’t tell if it was gonna stay fair so they stayed in the box leaning and looking at, and weaver was screaming at him to not watch it and run the bases. So when guillen hit a no doubter, he milked it and purposely pissed off weaver.
@@commandershepard1838 Except Weaver gets pissed off very easily. He hit Seager just because he felt "Seager was taking too long to get ready".
mark p it’s a free base go ahead
airplanegod Weaver's an asshat
Pitcher strikes out a batter:
Pitcher: *Screams and celebrates at how awesome he is*
Batter admires home run by just standing there:
Pitcher: “So I took that personally”
Notice the difference? 1 guy is celebrating his accomplishment as he's continuing the game the other is stopping the game and yelling "look at me". If he ran the bases and pumped his fist it's no big deal. What if the pitcher struck a guy out and instead of going to the next batter just stood there and posed with the ball and showed it to the batter and delayed the game?
@@Kartracer6 that is so retarded I cannot believe my eyes. There is no difference dipshit. They are both celebrating, who gives a shit? @@Kartracer6 Bedtime kid.
@@Kartracer6 no, I don’t notice the difference. I pitched for a long time. Home runs were hit against me and occasionally a batter would watch for a few seconds. We all like to celebrate our accomplishments, there’s no difference
In the words of Cam Newton- “If you don’t like what I do when I score then don’t let me do it”
If pitchers don't like it when the batter watches a home run, then they should learn to pitch better
Batters puffing and showing off for just doing their job, should learn to do their jobs better.
Respect the guy on the mound or expect a fastball at your head. It’s pretty fucking simple.
mike west I’m sorry dude but that’s fucking dangerous. If you’re going to bean a dude don’t hit him right in the head. That could fucking kill a guy if it hits just right.
mike west Waaaaaaa someone scored because I can’t pitch. Pitchers need to quit crying
Exactly. Pitchers can celebrate when they get big K's, batters can celebrate big homers. its fine either way. Babies like Archer need to grow up.
4:17 It was at this moment I learned that umps are part time therapists.
this video should be titled “sensitive pitchers”
Sensitive lil bitches seems even more accurate
Wow cuz it's cool to be a big ol tough guy huh?
It’s not about being a tough @cowsrcool. It’s about every major league pitcher is a self entitled brat. They give up a run and expect silence from the batter and opposing team? Gtfo
Not scherzer
Brannan Smith u need to learn how to reply to someones comment correctly but yeah ur right
Terry Collins has the most legendary mic'd up i love it everytime I see it. Priceless
A pitcher throwing a fastball at someone’s head because he flip a bat after a home run is probably the softest thing ive seen in all sports.
I know right. He should have thrown to the body instead.
If you don’t want them do flip their bat, don’t throw a bad pitch

Well, theres men and then theres baseball players.
Can’t compare baseball players to real men
i love it... pitchers can get fired up after striking out a batter but GODFORBID a batter stares at a ball for 2 seconds

@@jackreacher1290 And?
@@jackreacher1290 pitchers are pussies
There's a difference between staring at a homerun and getting fired up. “That’s the wrong time to do that” is there an unspoken rule where pitchers are aloud to hit batters?
yes
The batter that Weaver threw at was Chase Uttly, the runner from the clip before. That was Uttly's next time at bat. That's why he threw at him.

@cauchamar - Really? Which pitcher did a stumbling somersault after he fist pumped a 3rd strikeout?
That’s a lie. Pitcher constantly celebrate a strikeout whenever the game is on the line. It’s not exclusive to one country.
They shouldn't be able to slam their bat down and stare at the pitcher
I think that was the point of the unwritten rule. To keep it professional, I believe. Batters would always circle the bases as quick as they could, regardless of the play, and pitchers would just stay quite after their throws. I think it was a good idea, precisely to avoid all this kind of situations where everybody takes personal any extra display of emotion
fine when they are running it out they can pump their fist when it goes out. the only players that admire their work are piss ant bitches.

@@theevermind Let the players that make the dumb assumption get themselves out, that's honestly nothing but a BENEFIT to the defense.
