Personally I think I'd rather buy a hull and build it myself rather than buy one off the shelf because I'm probably going to end up changing all that stuff anyway so why not start fresh. Also thank you for having this channel, watching your videos every morning at 7:00 a.m. is part of my daily routine and out of all the channels I watch this is the only one I look forward to every day. I normally spend my budget on building materials, motors, and esc's. However, I just bought my first ever (second-hand) racing hull last week, and I can't wait to reveal it and run it!

I definitely agree. Having a really strong reliable boat is definitely the preferred method. I just got a bunch of parts from offshore electrics to upgrade my big one.
All of the parts were ones that you recommended so I cannot wait to see how dialed in this boat is going to be After installation.

I bent my SM 21 rudder in the first 5 minutes. So I swapped to the series 40 & filled down the mount

I love the videos, Im enjoying the hobby very much! I hit 64.8 mph with my blackjack 24. I upgraded to 120 amp esc I have props on order so hopefully I will get to 65mph. Thanks for making the videos or I wouldn’t be doing this. Since my dog died I’ve been searching for a hobby to keep me busy.I am putting in the time tinkering with my boat and props.I put a water pump in it and even though it added weight it’s awesome. I will do 4 passes and let it sit for 3 minutes and repeat.After my last pass I let it sit in the water for 4 minutes. When I get it and check the temperature never gets over 120 usually between 90-110f. I did 4 passes and checked it right away and it was at 120f so I’m happy with that. It only takes about 5 minutes after taking it out of the water before temperatures are in the 80s -90s . Thanks for the videos!

The extra money to Me depends how I currently stand at the moment. I just got a 34in seaducer mono hull. So it would be all the hardware and electronics for the upcoming build.
Since the only factory built hull I currently have was built way back in the mid 70's, I would probably buy an OSE Raider hull. I already have pretty much everything else needed to complete the build to at least get it on the water on 6s. Later, I would buy a Hydra x8s esc and cooling jacket for my Castle 1520 1650kv motor to swap in.
I would split the difference and do both! I bought another version 1 Sonicwake (that makes 4) I found on Facebook Marketplace for $150 and the guy even delivered the boat to my house. The rest of the $300 I spent on bigger water lines, a 150 amp esc, different propeller and new flex shaft. Now I’m changing my boats over to QS8 connectors.
If i had 400 id be buying a Hydra xlx2 and batteries! That would make a game changer to my boats!!

For 350 i can't build one in sizes i like (800-1100mm), so most logic choice for me is buy one used. With bit more money, build one from partially used parts. I bought some (barely and 1 not) used castle esc's while ago for about half the price. Some people sell their projects or electronics never used, so there are rarely possibilities...
Building/changing/experimenting stuff is way more satisfying to me.

I'd buy parts, although I'm itching to build something, arms ALMOST better. But I just broke out my big ML kneeler outboard hydro. It's a big boy too, 36" with basically a big block outboard. 4060 rocket 1700kv. Haven't run it since last fall and yeah, she needs to run now that I got a good spot to run at

Looks like a good boating day, they dont happen that often. $400 buys every thing i need for one running hull, as i tend to start with a blank piece of paper , make it , run it , mould it . Yeah yeah im tighter than a snakes pocket. LOL

If the boat hulls are still good and not too bashed up I would rather spend 400 bucks on OSE goodies. When the hull is bad you can later buy a new hull and transfer ekectronics etc to a new boat.

62mph is haulin' the mail! On the upgrade question: For me, it comes down to what the goals and aspirations are, and what limitations the current hull has. If I had enough for a v2 Blackjack 24, I'd get that and be done with it for a basher boat.. just have to swap an ESC to go faster. I love my little Arrow, but upgrading the battery trays and motor/mount isn't really worth the squeeze imo. I'll be happy when it's in the 40s though. Sometimes I enjoy customizing things, but now I have to consider if it's worth the time and effort that could be used on another project. I wanna build a triple digit rigger someday, but that's gonna take time and I know it. FLBG4L 🚤💨
