I really like your honest reviews. You describe the quality of the case and also add the caution about what it can be used for. With that in mind, I’m going to order one and just use a thinner notebook. Thanks for the helpful info!
Heard about how slim the A5 Folio was and was hesitant on buying it even though I really wanted it.... until I found out they made an Expansi-Folio in A5. Can't wait to get mine.
I have the same case that I keep a Rhodia notepad in and that works great. I just tried that same Galen notebook and mine is extremely tight too (with being broken in). So I would suggest trying a notepad, I haven't had to worry about pen placement at all with the notepad either. Plus, a notepad would be better for your D&D nights anyway. 😜
an interesting D&D cgarchter, a leather pouch that could do some damage, the only weapon that could defeat it is a beefy fountain pen with magic ink :)
I have this one and love it. I use it with a Rhodia Dotpad or a Logical Prime notebook, both of which work perfectly. I like that it takes both side-bound and top-bound pads. My one gripe with it is that the pen loops are quite big, so they don't work well for my thinner pens. By the way, I put my pens in the other way round to avoid scratching them on the zip.
You were so apologetic, and so tangential, and so full of praise for the company and the designs and the materials and the workmanship that I was getting antsy waiting for the shoe to drop. As we all pretty much expected it to. It would be fairly simple for Galen to eliminate the problem with this case by just making the spine less stingy, adding a bit more material before slicing up that crazy horse hide, like, make it 1/2 inch wider. Then if some of us have a big, brawny, musclebound pen it will not stretch the tapes (yes, that's what they are called) holding the zipper teeth in place. The pens on the sides of the case couldn't be as fat as full-size Benus or the Jinhao 9091, for example. But it might be harder for Galen to find a stock of zippers that have really wide tapes. Maybe not. Still...
I have the new expanded folio, in Crazy Horse Navy Blue, with the Galen Leather Everyday notebook. With seven pens on the other side (including a Narwhal Horizon Wonderland and a Monteverde Super Mega Abolone, in the two bottom loops next to the notebook spine.) A seventh, skinnier, shorter pen can slide in the top loop, with something soft, such as a microfiber cloth. It's just right. If it wasn't expanded, they wouldn't fit.
I have a similar case from Galen Leather. It has a removable pen holder and only holds four pens. I use a Hobonihi Techo notebook. It was too tight. I removed some of the pages from the notebook. I was fine with that because I only use it ffor the paper, not as a planner. I love the case. Just know that you need to consider a thinner notebook.
This is good to know as I’ve looked at this product several times but I love my BENU and my main journal is pretty thick so I don’t think this would work the best for my use case. Thanks!
First time kislux kuch different colors ka LV bag dekha..very elegant....good choice

I have the same thing in green and it keeps all my favorite pens. I have a thinner note pad in it and have no issues with it.

It will work better with a Rhodia pad, which is thinner.
