Congratulations on your new home in Guadalajara! Thank you for all the information you provide. I'm a single, female, senior and have decided to move permanently to Guadalajara. Good health care, convenience of things similar to the US, great food, and lots of cultural activities are all reasons I've decided on Guadalajara. At my age, almost 70, I need to have access to things that might not be as important when you're younger. I think this city will provide me with everything I need during this last chapter of my life. I'm extremely tired of living in the US, particularly due to ever increasing property taxes, utilities and homeowners insurance. I will begin looking for a place to rent, so any helpful sources you can share would be wonderful. Thank you again for a great video!
Congrats on your decision to move to Mexico! Definitely check out this video about finding rentals in Mexico: ruclips.net/video/imb63JYfHhk/видео.html
What a brave decision, love it that you decided to keep it fresh :) How is it now, a year later?
You will be welcome to this city of Guadalajara. Considering your age, I would recommend an area like Providencia, Chapalita, or even Bugambilias, a little further from the center. Eye! The center is more for tourists than for living, do not choose anything close to the Center please! The famous American colony is interesting, but it can be very noisy for people your age.
I love your apartment. I will be down there before the end of the year to look at Guadalajara. I was considering queretaro but with your video I’m reconsidering.
Congratulations on your move! I love Guadalajara, It’s a very exciting city and I get this cool vibe when I’m there. I can’t explain it. I’m just full of joy and happiness. My wife and I will be visiting again in a couple of weeks looking at different areas to purchase a home for retirement. Thanks for sharing all the information on your channel, we’ve certainly learned quite a bit from you.
Wishing you all the best with your house hunt!
@@alex-wittman You're a traitor but i still love you Guadalajara is CDMX's enemy in soccer like NYC's enemy of Los Ángeles in sports Although i'm from Mexico City i'm living in Santa Monica California I am a big city guy That's why i'm living in the area of LA Just enjoy your new city
@@ricardomartinez4341 jajaja I haven't been to a game yet since moving here!
First video in the new apartment! What kind of Guadalajara content are you MOST EXCITED to see??
When we were there in 2017 - I was amazed by the value - eg wood fire oven pizza for 80 pesos. I also loved the craft beer - Deposito, Minerva, etc. I would love to see what the options are now and at what price. Once you have your vehicle - I would love to see more of the surrounding towns.
Congratulations on your new adventure! Looking forward to seeing all your videos! Would love to see the area, restaurants, things to do, etc.
Nightlife, San Juan de Los lagos . Tequila jalisco. Chápala etc etc and Vallarta
I’m strongly considering GDL as a place to live. Do you know which areas have the best Internet access and are best for running an online business? Thanks!
We were there in 2019 for a month and absolutely LOVED it!
The friendly people, architecture, museums, cultural events, even horseback riding! Most wonderful place on earth!
We've been to many other cities and towns and Mexico however Guadalajara calls to my heart everyday!!!
We'll move there in 5 years! Can't wait!
QUESTION ❓❓ how many pesos for that place! I love your outdoor area on the roof!!
Yvonne is amazing! Helped us get our PR and set up my sons citizenship. She was amazing, thanks for the recommendation ❤
Congrats on the move to GDL..!! Expecting you will post videos frequently😊
I ❤ this city. My dad retired there 3 years ago and I’ve been visiting him from Atlanta three to four times a year and I absolutely fell in love with GDL! My dad is Mexican and has dual citizenship and so do I so the transition for him has been easy. I love the big city vibe and all the cultural events one can do. I’m now looking to semi-retire there (I’m 46) and am also looking to buy an apartment since the construction market is hot there. High rise apartments are going up left and right and I love it! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Welcome to the best city in Mexico. You've made a great choice! You're in for a treat in Guadalajara and the state of Jalisco.
The new place looks amazing! Hope you two are adjusting well to your new home!
Thank you, Tom!
So excited for you. Hope you scope out the best dining!
Congrats and blessings in your new home, all your info was so interesting!
Ah! Knew it, I called it in the last video 😅
Can’t wait to hear more about that city and how it compares to Querétaro ❤
oh, you will love Guadalajara, my parents are from there and I used to spend so much time there while growing up. It is an amazing city and the people are so nice and welcoming. You both are going to love it there.
I couldn't help but notice your excitement about your new home. Looks like all of us here are excited too... we eagerly await to see the new videos.... If I might suggest one that would be very helpful is how to change your address at INM... We just moved from one apartment to another here in Mazatlan and it's something I'll need to do pretty soon. I think you have something like 30 to 90 days to do? Anyway... happy for you guys... keep up your great content!! :)
How exciting for you two! We will be moving to Lake Chapala area in about 2 years.
Wow, what a great story and adventure. Wishing you the best and it really encourages me to continue to persue my dream of moving to Mexico. Will keep following your journey. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Congrats on your relocation. When I was hunting around Mexico for "my" Ciudad de Mexico, my 3 finalists were QRO, GDL and CDMX. I'm now making CDMX my home, but your two Mexican cities are close to my heart as well. Best wishes.
I've been to Mexico City and I loved it but haven't been to the others. I'm curious why did you decide to choose cdmx as you're home? I will be doing a 4-6 month trip through Mexico starting from April so I'm trying to allocate how long in each city. What do you think about Puebla?
@@wanderingdoc5075 I lived in 15 cities around the country long enough to decide whether I could stay there long term. In the process, I learned that I prefer cities to towns and the cool highland weather to the beach weather. The final issue could have been the first issue: opera. As a fan, only CDMX has a company and so that tipped the scale for me. I lived in Puebla during the early days of the lockdown and therefore in fairness should visit it again. Happy huntnig
Congrats on the move! I’ve been following you for some time now, ever since we decided to move to Mexico ourselves. I gotta say that your videos are incredibly helpful!
We visited Queretaro but decided to do the move to Aguascalientes next month.
I wanted to ask about appliances, any tips on major stores to get them??
Thanks in advance ☺️
I am shocked and actually soooo happy you stayed in Mexico!! Yeah!!! Have a great transition. Will be watching!
Mexico is home 🫶🏼
Thank you for your videos! I'm an international teacher and found you originally when I was researching a move to Querétaro and ironically now considering Guadalajara. Would you consider doing a video on different neighborhoods in Guadalajara?
Been in San Miguel for 2 years...looking seriously at move to Guadalajara. Thank you for this!
Hola from Phoenix, AZ. Congratulations on your move. The apartment looks fantastic. Can hardly wait until the full tour. Guadalajara has to be my next place to visit. I spent my honeymoon there in 1969. So, yes, I am really old. I made it to QRO a couple years ago because of you two. And thanks so much for the work you both do to bring the greatness of Mexico onto our screens. Enjoy you new home.
Thanks for watching!
Great vid, Alex. Congrats on the big move. Looks like you really lucked out on your new place. When I first moved to Ajijic I did the same thing as you did. I found a place in La Floresta on the internet and a new friend went over and toured the place and met the landlords. He took a lot photos that reassured me so I sent the deposit. I fell in love with Ajijic the day I arrived and spent almost two years there until I was unfortunately forced back to Canada. I did visit Guadalajara a few times, but big cities are not my thing. I do miss Mexico big time and regret that I don't qualify now to come back. Look forward to your upcoming videos, as always.
Oh congratulations love!!! Love you two. Watched a few other expats but I love you all the mostttt. ♥️ Keep on glowing and living your best life. So so happy for you 🤗
Thanks, Marcus 🥰
Your new place looks fantastic. You have a fantastic view from the terrace and that is a super big bonus.
We are happy that you and Taylor are happy after the relocation, let me tell you about my last moving cost back in USA 2,900.00 for 2.8 miles of travel unreal!!
Lots of nice closet space. The terrazza looks awesome!! So excited for you guys.
Thank you, Chris!
This is so exciting! What I saw of your new place, it's very nice. I love the big open spaces, the fantastic bathrooms and all the wooden doors. I'm excited to see your future videos. I haven't visited Guadalajara since I was in highschool. I remember loving everything about about Guadalajara. 🌻🥰🐕🇺🇸
You two look so happy. I’m certain you’ll love it in Guadalajara. Anytime we need help in Mexico I’ll ask your help. You are one of my favorite channels for Mexico info.
I'm so glad to hear you find my content helpful 🤓
Hi! I am so happy this move was easy for you both. I am glad my recommendation was worth it. I hope you have a great adventure in Guadalajara.
Thank you, Ivonne!
Hi, could you recommend anyone in Leon, Guanajuato?
Omg! A bathtub?! Congratulations on what looks like an amazing new place! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you get up to in Guadalajara!
I couldn't believe it! Haha thanks, Janine!
Congrats !!!
Expecting your new life in Guadalajara! Good luck🎉
Thank you, Shana!
I'm so excited for you & Tyler! Congratulations, great layout, a gem! XO, Marian
Thank you, Marian!
Hope to see you soon in puerto Vallarta only 5 hrs away from Guadalajara
The new place looks awesome! I didn't see where you mentioned how big it was or what the monthly rent is for that place. Can you please share that information for those interested in moving there? Thx
Nice kitchen! Sounds like a good decision, look forward to hearing more!
Looooove the kitchen 🥰 there’s a good over the range which has been amazing for cooking!
As always, thanks for the transparency! The details about the movers (the stairs, odd hours) reminded me of NYC 😆
It was a very involved move & something I never considered when we took up residency there five years ago!
Looking forward to you sharing your new adventures. I’m so excited for both of you. Much 💕
Your new apartment is beautiful too.
Congrats on the move! I'm from Guadalajara but live far from there now. I do come fairly often, but I'm still very much looking forward to your Guadalajara videos (:
Love the new place!!
Querétaro will miss you. Your new digs look great! All the very best.
Thank you!
Super happy for you! You EARNED it, makes it sweeter.
Thank you!
Love your new apartment Congrats!!!!
Thank you, Victor!
all the best to you two,, cant wait to get there for a visit, cheers
Your new place in Guadalajara looks really nice, more spacious. Congratulations, and enjoy!
So much more spacious, I'm loving the flow!
Must be a lot more variety & spice in the 'bigger city' ? - - I can see a food increase in selection and variety. Perhaps more for the money in many cases ? - - Thrilling and exciting with new things to experience also. - - Thrive prosper and share the experiences !
I Love Guadalajara & was there February to March 2023. I thinking of returning again for my birthday in December. My friend who lives in Texas said to let her know bc she loves it too. The only other place I Love is Amsterdam to celebrate my birthday & retire outside of Guadalajara. People are so nice, helpful, and happy in Guadalajara. I can't wait to return.
I love GDL! My partner has been here for a while and I just moved here from the U.S. It’s a beautiful vibrant city.
Hi Alex, nice new place in Guadalajara and I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos. Just want to see your daily life. From groceries to getting your house ready.. Best wishes in this beautiful city. ♥️♥️♥️✌️
Thank you for the suggestions, MaryLou!
Felicidades por tu nuevo hogar, y por compartir este video.
Congratulations! Hey, I'd be interested to learn more about recreational and health promotion activities in your new area please. Thanks for all you do!
What area did you end up in? Looking forward to the cost of living video down the road. We are trying to choose between gdl and cdmx for our move next year. Plenty of longer visits to both to get a feel.
So happy for you! The apartment looks fantastic. And Hopefully no blood-curdling screams every night outside your window!
Lol we don't miss La Llorona, that's for sure!
Good for you! Could you please tell me how much rent you pay for that beautiful home???
Details to come, stay tuned!
So happy for you both. A whole new life! Your place looks gorgeous. And you have a bathtub! Congrats!
Thank you!
We recommend Taller de Espresso and St. Malo's for desayuno!
Wow, the apartment looks great - especially that nice outdoor space. We spent a week in Colonia Americana in 2017 and loved the area - but I found the traffic to be intense, even in an uber, when travelling outside the colonia (I prefer Mexico City, not gonna lie - maybe because there are so many more subway options). PS - We loved Tequila - it has a Bernal vibe (without the monolith but still beautiful). Anyway - good luck in your new abode! I am looking forward to hearing more about your observations of life in GDL! All the best!!!
Thanks, Dan!
Congratulations on your successful move to GDL and best of luck to both of you in your new home. 👍
Thank you, Phil!
The first video of yours that I ever watched, you were buying plants. From the little I can see in this video of your new place... it's begging to be a plant haven!🌱🌿🎋🎄You're going to have so much fun! Now, I wish had wagered money on this move a few months ago😉 I kinda feel like I willed it to happen. (Like maybe it's "the sign" I've been asking for?😋) Anyway, I'm so happy for you and you probably know that I'm even more excited to watch your videos now! Yeah, I'm thinking skip the clarity-call... I might have to grab an AirBnB and do a clarity-visit lol😏 Guadalajara! Guadalajara!
I want an apartment tour with furniture! Oooh Lala the closet!
Yes yes, it’s coming!
So happy for you and so jealous!!
Thanks for sharing! are you able to disclose the neighborhood you moved to and what the price range is in that area.
So happy for you…what is life if not a grand adventure? Great to see a cute couple up for it. I love your videos, keep them coming.
I couldn't agree more, Lynne!
Oh wow, I am very surprised, I missed the goodbye video. I so wanted to meet you and Taylor when I came down in Dec and Jan, darn. The apartment is beautiful.
If you make it over to Guadalajara at some point, we would LOVE to meet you, Margie!
I just watched your video and I am just uplifted by your positive experience. I spent the last 6 days in GDL and I am seriously considering moving here. While I absolutely love most things about CDMX, the traffic altitude and air quality are huge drawbacks.
What an amazing place! You didn’t break your renting rule. Not entirely anyway, having your friend go in person. 👍😊
Would love to know your colonia. Maybe a video tour of it and others you considered. Pros/cons.
Yes, that’s a good idea, colonia tour!😊
thanks for sharing. I have my 2 year plan in tow.
We signed with Telmex for 20mbs guaranteed, which was the very lowest that I was going to accept, but we never even got 10mbs. We cancelled the contract within a month as undelivered. They are still sending us bills. Totalplay gives us 100mbs for the same price.
I'm really happy with Totalplay so far!
My friend & I are staying at an AirBnB in americana beginning Nov 9-18. We currently live in San Miguel. He likes big cities, I do not! I used to live in the Lake Chapala area in 1994 with my late husband...so I know a bit about GDL. My friend would like to know about places to go and have a drink at night.....any suggestions? and he's a foodie!
How much is the rent, Alex? You’ve been there a year now. Did it go up as you said it did every year in Quéretaro? Thanks for the link to this video. I would’ve snatched up this place in a heartbeat too! I love it.
Yea Totalplay is amazing. They came the same day for me in Ajijic. I was stunned how quick and efficient they were. Highly recommended!
Hi! Congratulations on your move! Would you be able to provide the websites for those apartment searching sites? Thank you!
This video shares all the best websites for listings: ruclips.net/video/imb63JYfHhk/видео.html In this video, I mentioned Inmuebles24!
Good video Alex. I was shocked last week but I get it. I hope you both are happy there....
Thanks, JP! You’ll have to check Guadalajara out once you’re in Mexico!
@@alex-wittman For sure. I can take a fancy bus. I have seen videos and a friend has gone to a place that is a huge like store with tons of food stalls.... Says it is awesome....
Love the size of it. Also, you can get so many flights out of G you have it made.
We’re so excited about the airport!
Ya, that is a huge advantage! Sadly, still no direct flights to Canada (we have to via CDMX, the tourist resort towns or the USA).
@@Vancouver_Dan wait 6 months and that will likely change...
Very nice place. Best wishes for your new life in Guadalajara.
Thank you!
Hola, soy de Guadalajara, sé que te gustará mucho, es una buena ciudad para vivir.
Estoy intentando aprender inglés, espero algún día encontrarte y practicar un poco jajaja. Saludos y suerte.
That apartment is HUGE! WOW! OK, more question time: is that outdoor area all yours or is it shared?
It’s all ours!
@@alex-wittman OH you're gonna go nuts with plants. Project!
Awesome. Excellent decision making !
Thanks, Phil!
Congrats on the move 👏👏👏
Thank you!
We are hoping to visit Guadalajara and Ajijic sometime in 2023 to explore it as a possible retirement destination. I'd be interested to know what an apartment like the one you found goes for? The information about how hot the rental market there is is a little scary!
Awesome! I'm in GDL now as well. Love it! Which neighborhood are you guys in?
Over by Arcos Vallarta!
That's a beautiful place! Congratulations!
Thank you!
Congrats on your Gorgeous apt.
Thank you!
How much do you pay for rent? I think it would be very helpful if you shared, for those of us who are planning to move to Guadalajara. Congratulations on your new beginning! The place is beautiful!!!
Thanks for watching, Lily! I definitely plan to share all the details in a future cost of living video & full apartment tour 🤓 stay tuned!
I really loved the way you explain 😇
Am looking at potential areas to move to in GDL.
Any recommendations for places to check out?
Recommendations for places to avoid?
I am so excited for you…. Whoo hoo
We are really considering queretaro but my partner needs internet as soon as we get there to work remotely. I'm concerned it took over a month for you to get the internet installed in queretaro.
Any chance of telling us the rental price per month, or did I miss it?
Hola, any chance you could post links to the websites you mentioned at the 3:45 mark? Thanks you.
I love Guadalajara. And your place looks great.
Felecidades!!! Su departamento nuevo parece mu bonito. Puedo preguntarles cuanto cuesta para aquilarlo y si los utilidades estan incluidos? Gracias y otra vez felecidades!
Details to come, te prometo!
Sweet! We're there now, if we see you we'll try to be chill...
I hope you’re loving Guadalajara, Hans!
Congrats on the new home! With regard to the Polizia Juridical (sp?), how does it work when your income is based on U.S. Social Security AND goes into a U.S. credit union? Would they be able to read printouts of the statements and just convert the U.S. dollars to pesos?
1,000 usa was sticker shock. Good grief that would have cost you 7500 usa for a midnight move and delivering stuff to top floor. The fuel cost would have ate up a good chunk of that.
Love the apartment!!!
Hola
Congrats
We love guadalajara too
And thinking of moving to.
Could I ask for the amount of such apt, rent? I mean how much is the rent and how much is to buy such apt, in guadalajara.
Thank you
Just curious. How much did your Amazon Mexico mattress cost you ?
Congrats on your move! What are the places online you used to look for an apartment? Facebook isn't cutting it for me. 😢
We found this place on Inmuebles24!
I’ve lived in GDL (Valle Real) for 5 years and I think you are making a wise choice buying a car soon. It’s very spread out. Since you don’t need to commute during hora pico (rush hour) you will be able to mostly time your driving to the traffic pattern and it isn’t too bad. Congrats!
