He only has eyes for MaoMao. ⚠SPOILER ALERT!⚠>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> One time when he comes to the brothel to see MaoMao, he looks very tired, so MaoMao makes a room for him in the brothel and asks him if he needs someone to "nap" with him. He says yes (thinking that it's she that is offering). But to his surprise and shock, he finds "scantly-clad" women in the adjoining room to massage and bath him. 😂 He runs out horrified. Then Granny comes in and presents him with several "companions" to choose from, Jinshi gets frustrated, and MaoMao shoos his rejected companionss away. 😂 His actions only confuse MaoMao, and before she leaves the room, Jinshi asks for MaoMao to sing a lullaby to help him to go sleep. 🥺
@@Sheeeshchill Yes! It's taking more than 12+ novels because JInshi and MaoMao are *horrible* at communication. Use your words. Don't bite her. Use her words, and *then* bite...LOL (*as longs as she consents, of course).
7:48,in the scene It really reminded me of a tired husband who got home from a really busy day . And then tells his wife about what happened at work , what he did & etc . And also his wife listens to him patiently.( Even though maoamo doesn't listen to him patiently 😅) is just so cute . And it also reminded me of my parents because they used to do that 😂😂
This actually became their routine. Sharing each other's dilemma and trying to solve it together😊 So it feels like they're already husband and wife even if they're not even in a relationship yet.
Honestly this seems like a nerodivetgent, nerotypicak pairing qmd I love it, she's stubborn yes, but forst and foremost is her fixation with medicine amd poisons.
Honestly, I love how your voice turns a bit sweeter and happier when u speak the part where maomao's replying to Jinshi. I almost get the feeling like you are so happy and excited for both of them. : )
The amount of retakes I have to do because I won't stop smiling and laughing while recording 😂 I was kinda worried that it'd annoyed some people, but I am glad you liked it 🤭
Omg so glad someone talked about this moment! I was absolutely shocked at Jinshi’s courage to do this. But then when it makes total sense. Maomao will not ’give him’ attention if not through ’pain’. She is a girl who love poison. So I started to understand their dynamic 😂
This scene is what I argued when people say that maomao was just forced by Jinshi to be his spoiler***. Because maomao will not let any man do that stuff to her just because she grew up in the Pleasure district… and the way she panics in the recent vol that her estranged father will know their secret meetings. 😂❤
Omg one of my favorite scenes! I really enjoyed this breakdown :) Chou-ou coming in by surprise and Jinshi falling to the floor grumbling is just so funny
*Sorry for this long comment. It's mostly a quote* LOL. To explain the biting, I was confused by it so I search engined. LOL. 🤓 Here's a quote from an article I found from UC. "“What we found in our original study was that when individuals were feeling this strong sort of adoration and then they showed the ‘cute aggression’, it helped folks to come down off of that very strong emotional experience - there was this sort of ability to help them to regulate their own emotions,” Aragon said. “So, you’re with your partner, you feel this super strong urge that you just need to express, and then you do the bite and it helps you to cleanse yourself and cope with those feelings.” That last sentence is key. This biting is a him trying to tell her he loves her. Remember he asks her to *listen*, but again doesn't actually use words. He is so overcome that he just bites.
Waaah they explained it pretty well! I also thought it could be cute aggression but somehow it didn’t sit well because I just thought of cute aggression as finding something sooo cute that you and up being aggressive But it’s not just that, as they said it’s more like a way of expressing yourself to your partner 😍 He said listen and bites and then asked her if she got what it meant (I feel kinda dumb for not understanding it before 😂)

Ugh this anime frustrates me so much. It’s funny and can be good, but also drives me nuts. Granted I have not watched it all - primarily because she bugs me so much, and i still plan to read manga a and/or light novel so Im probably missing a lot of context, but I cannot for the life of me understand why she is so anti-Jinshi. A beautiful handsome man clearly likes her and she acts so bizarre. I mean I think only the most seriously damaged girl would act like her. I understand that she grew up in the brothel, but nothing happened to mess her up so much that she just can’t fathom normal human interactions and emotions. I enjoy a drawn out love story, but in this case I cannot imagine how they could keep her ignorance up or properly help the reader understand why a sane woman would not be interested in Jinshi. Sure she can play hard to get until she is sure if his feelings are true etc., but she’s not doing that, she just doesn’t have feelings period. It’s funny, but wow so frustrating at the same time. Also, I thought they never end up together which would irritate me to no one, but I will still read the novels and maybe I can understand it a bit more, but likely will still not agree with her behavior or fully grasp why she is so messed up. :P
I think the primary reason for her to not *like* jinshi even when he pursue her constantly is because of the class differences…. Spoilers, don’t read if you wanna go into the LN or manga blindly… So her real father (the person with monocle) is a high ranking commander and she CAN NOT stand him, for many reasons but I think mostly because HE is the reason she is the way she is (he left her and her mom, tho it was clearly a misunderstanding but she still don’t want him to be her *dad*) and if she does liked jinshi back, her father would cause A LOT of problems…. And not just that, she likes her freedom… she doesn’t want to be a *court lady* or a *consort/wife* cuz she can’t spend her life without exparementing with poisons… The other reason could be because jinshi never *said* he likes her, she is from the red light district and a lot of men there come to just sweet talk to the women, with empathy promises and fake dreams, leaveing without actully buying them… so she doesn’t consider him as more then that (tho at the beginning she didn’t even know he was a real man 😂) It’s a slow burn and it does get frustrating seeing them not accept their feelings, but later in the light novel they grew to get along and she somewhat accepts him (he does everything in his power to clear out a road for them to be happy together and she appreciates his efforts and love for her) That’s a big ass reply but I hope you get why she just doesn’t want to be with him…. Give the LN a try, a part from them, the mysterious she solves are sooooo good!
I think it’s cause Maomao from a young age dismisses her feelings. You see it in the way she downplays her wants, “ oh it’s probably for the best” or “ if it’s an order”. Even the way she is so nonchalant about near death experiences or kidnappings. Always wanting to understand more but telling herself to mind her business. She struggles to be honest with her feelings cause it was the best way to survive.
@AkiraAnimeExpress Great answer - thank you for the details!! That does make more sense, but still disappointing that they likely never have the sappy ending, but I can better see why now. I got the first light novel, so hopefully, that will fill in the blanks a bit more. Also, I'm reading sugar apple fairy light novels now, which are just the opposite in that they are romantic and sweet and light on the dark stuff, so maybe the contrast is also fueling my frustration with Maomao.
@flowerbloom5782 good point - that makes sense. She definitely isn't honest with herself and seems like she actively avoids being honest and prefers to be independent and avoid complications of relationships, which I guess she hasn't seen many positive examples of.
