German and I raised my kids celebrating Christmas. We taught them about St. Christopher, (Santa), who gave to the poor and children, which started in Europe. We explained how we were celebrating Jesus’s birth, although a different date completely. It’s not wrong! October 2023 I received a visitation fully awake! A blessing to see!
Hate to break it to you, the real Santa Clause was Saint Nicholas, not Saint Christopher.
The Dutch modification to his name became ‘Sinter Klause’ which evolved to become ‘Santa Clause’.
But the real historical Santa Claus dates back much earlier to Saint Nicholas of Myra, a Greek Orthodox bishop in the 4th century who lived in Byzantine Anatolia.
No where did he say to celebrate his birth.

When I was a child and knew nothing Halloween was just a time for scary stories and the weather was getting colder. But it was just children dressing up. Ghosts, Frankenstein, Batman, witches. Nothing real. But kid stuff. Now I don’t participate because it’s become over the top and adults are participating turning it into a gore fest. It’s no longer a Jack o lantern thing but a demonic thing. I don’t mind trunk or treats for kids to get candy. The costumes aren’t dark and evil. Kids can bob for apples get some apple cider. Harvest stuff. But I get how people feel that Halloween is wrong now. It’s over the top.

I think of the words of Jesus, John, James and Paul that say love not the world, or the things in it, to be no part of the world and James 1:27, to remain unspotted from the world. I stay separate as much as possible. I will quit birthdays, though, now that you said it has pagan roots. I did not know that. I left a church because of their end of October substitute trunk or treat, but now I will return, since I know now that it is more about the little ones, and not just mimicking a pagan, demonic holiday. Regarding paganism within Christianity, I will give my own account (which I admit is probably rare), of how the combining of pagan beliefs and Christian intertwining actually caused me to become an atheist from age 8 until age 10. Please bear with me. I was taught Santa Claus, as was all Christian children, and it was intertwined with Christmas being the celebration of Jesus's birth. A child TRUSTS implicitly what their parents tell them. They believe without any doubt what is told to them. When i was 8, my parents decided to tell me Santa wasn't real. Naturally, I was devastated. But they said "But Jesus IS real." Now, I had seen Santa in the flesh, year after year, sat on his lap, and find out this flesh and blood man isnt real. For 2 years, it DEEPLY affected my faith in God...why? Because at that age, God was intangible to me. I could not see, hear, feel God. I could Santa though. Children at young ages do not have concrete perception of reality. For 2 years, I simply couldn't believe in God, Jesus, faith. I refused to go to church. Lies, in my own personal opinion, should never be intertwined with TRUTH. When I had children, my husband's family kept Christmas every year. When my children asked me early on if Santa was real, I told them the TRUTH, but in a kind way. I explained that there was a man who lived many centuries ago who was a saint in the Catholic church and his name was Saint Nicholas. He gave many gifts to poor children that would have otherwise gone without, and that Christmas is remembered by giving as Saint Nicholas did. But I did not tell them that he is sime magical being. Nor did I use tbe term "the Spirit of Christmas". I do not regret being truthful with my children. They still received presents from my husband's family, and from myself and their father. They were also required to give away some of their good, older toys to charity before they could receive gifts. It helped them understand how to give and receive, and be thankful. I am not writing this post to ruffle feathers. I M writing this post to make people think. Because that lie did hurt the 8 year old me, who believed 😢
