Brings back lots of memories as a teenager, especially that IH baler, sadly let down by the knotters, the rest of it was great. They just didn't like polythene string did they!!
@@Casterton-Vintage The twine knives were the problem, cutting polythene string. They didn't have stripper, so relied on the outgoing bale to pull the string off the bills to form the knot. If the string was not fully cut the knot would be pulled undone again!! AH!! Not again!! I remember. It's a big shame, the main mechanics of it were very good, a very high rate when the going was good?? I allways prefered bailers that had that auger to move hay/straw across instead of a second packer. Hope that's interesting. Martin.
When the Major started the bailer and was shoved back a fore it reminded me of my old 262 on my Major. Still have the Major and a David Brown 996, I don't think I could buy a bailer for £55 now. I have Castle Fraser Aberdeenshire steam fair up on my channel also. Good vid M 😀
My goodness many of those images ring many memories for me but not all of them were good! I not so long ago saw a roto baler working which were not common all those years ago, was there one on show at Carrington? Regards, Dan
Have NONE of these guys ever used 60’s 70’s equipment before because they’re making a proper hash of it 😱. Most of them either haven’t got the machinery set correctly or aren’t going quick enough for them to work properly 🤔
O yes the good old days, brings back very good memories 👍
Another great video. I must try and go to this event
It's an excellent event with a lot of top class exhibits.
Nice video with a lot of varied equipment and tractors 👍
Excellent stuff!
Brilliant video especially liked seeing the major's in action I'm making a few acres of hay at the minute but unfortunately I don't have as much help🤣

I was told one of the knives was rusty and blunt!

I had a new Holland 286 new in 1976 what a beast.
We also had one from new and I agree.
Definitely nice watching someone else conventional baling rather than 🤣. Great little vid👍

The guy using the acrobat needs to get up more speed, they’re ground driven and need speed to be effective
