- In this episode of KiaSS, I chat to one of my oldest friends, Mr Maximillion Cooper! In the late 90's he started the Gumball 3000 rally, and event that is now one of the most recognisable brands in the world. It was so much fun to chat to him about shared stories from over the years with cars, celebrities, and extraordinary people!

Great to see Max doing an interview as i know he is a very private guy, being fro. EDINBURGH and an old school skateboarder I'd always followed the Gumball 3000, finally i heard from my friend Gareth itwas coming to Edinburgh and alife long dream came true asi was asked to help out with the rally and had the pleasure of doing part of the rally from Edinburgh to ibiza!!! Unbelievable experience that I'll never forget, and life long friends were made. Maximillion is an absolute gentleman and i finally became part of the Gumball family 🙏🙏🙏❤

I am really looking forward to the XJ220 episode I saw one back home in Perth WA at a car show when these were launched. It's another car that is always on my lotto dream car list. It's a gorgeous car.

Great interview, I could listen to this for hours. I was a member of the crew in 2011 with a mate and it was insane. We still talk and laugh about it now. What an event.

I helped on an early Gumball… I remember having to look after the cars in Bilbao Guggenheim museum car park overnight as there was a car with no door locks. Among other things it was year that Tara Palmer Tompkinson got married on the ferry home. Thanks Max.

Cool story from a Gumball fan, I went to it a few times when coming to Manchester, and was on Instagram at the time and going to lot’s of car events, I was following a regular Gumball entrant and went to an event he hosted showing his car collection, which included a Pagani Huayra Tempesta package car, it was around 2017 when they did the Riga to Mykonos, I messaged him when the final day party was on asking if he knew of anyone local with a supercar that could take my son to prom and I’d pay them, he offered to drive an hour and half from his home and take him himself, a few month later he did just that and turned up in his bright green Lamborghini Huracan and drove my son to his prom, and didn’t want anything for doing so! He made such an amazing memory for us that we will cherish forever, and all from stemmed from him being on the Gumball rally.

So funny watching you two reminiscing, I was on that paddle steamer in Nashville and quite a few of the other destinations, I did 2001, 2002 & 2003, it all seemed so intimate compared to what it is now and when Max mentioned about the photos it really highlighted how long ago that was and how things have changed, if it wasn't for men'n'motors Kevin Haggarty and the Gumball annual I'd probably have no pictures at all from my experiences.

What a great video, could listen to Max’s Gumball stories all day! I went to see the Gumball in Manchester the year they closed down Regent st in London. Was awesome, been a few times when they’ve been to Manchester

I found your channel recently and have been playing catch-up. I enjoy the unique content and the unpretentiousness of the show. I have noticed when you introduce many of your quests, more times than not, you consider them a good or long term friend - which by the end of the video I always realize that your words are not exaggerated.
Well, this video was the final straw that my piqued curiosity, as I keep asking myself the same questions, “Who is this woman?” “How does she know everyone in England?” And, “How is it that she is so car savvy?”
Having lived in my own little world the past thirty years I finally had to research the answers to my questions… Now I get it.
All to say, I really enjoy your work. I don’t know how your show hasn’t been picked up by a network, or at the least courted interest - aside from the fact most major television executives are jackasses - these shows have such wonderful content and so well produced. Thanks for your work and sharing.

When I was a little boy I bought a book in the bargain bin at Woolies Llanelli, South Wales where I was born. It was called Sunday Driver by Brock Yates and I was 12. I read it very carefully and loved it coz Brock and Dan Gurney et al didn't drive like my Mum and uncles. It had a lasting effect on me and I bought another copy during lock down to re read it, fantastic. The gumball 3000 is a bigger better version of Brocks first idea
Hey Jodie - after watching the Gumball video I’ve taken a couple of days to gather my thoughts. I’m a subscriber and often comment. As always, your welcoming charm and personality are a pleasure to watch.
But I have to say, this video seems different to me than the others you’ve done. I found that after twenty or so minutes I was done. In my perception, Gumball is more about seeing / being seen and frivolously flaunting extravagance, than about driving experience or the cars themselves (except for the spectators).
I live in the American Mid-west; I’ve also lived in London (and loved every minute). The culture is different in the US, except perhaps NYC, LA and Chicago (I’ve also lived in NYC and Chicago). In America, we as a whole, do not respect flagrant displays by the wealthy of their ostentatious lifestyles. We know that the wealthy are wealthy because they’ve had privileged opportunities (either through being at the right place at the right time with a good idea, or by buying the politicians to make sure the law works in their favor).
I don’t intend this to be anti-wealth; your interview with Annette Mason was wonderful. Annette is refined, sophisticated and passionate about her cars. Max may well be a wonderful person, in person, but what he has created looks to me like a fad/gimmick for overly wealthy / famous people to parade their superiority. Except for the wealthy themselves, that’s not a good thing in America.

Guys! The XJ220 is everything but the pinnacle of the automotive world. The Bugatti EB110, you may have forgotten, beats the XJ200 in every respect hands down. Even in top speed. The EB110 features everything the XJ220 was promised to have and more. 12 cylinder, quad turbo, 4WD, carbon fiber chassis and body to boot.
