I've carried Vertx for almost 12 years as my EDC / Med pack. I own both the Gamut Checkpoint - which would solve a few of your issues, including having large enough bottle holders for 40 oz Nalgene bottles - and a Commuter, which is my personal choice for the outdoors as it takes all pressure off your shoulders and lower back. They're not perfect, but I cannot recommend these bags enough. I've had my Commuter since 20011, and it's still going strong!
I’ve been carrying the edc ready pack everyday for the last year, it’s held up amazing, in my opinion, they have a few improvements with this one, but overall they took a few steps backwards with this design. An EDC bag with no admin area like the version 1-2, no good for me. Thanks for the detailed review!
Nice shoutout to mike at Llod. Started using his holsters a year ago and he’s all I use now after using t1c and tx for years. Great video as always. Keep it up brotha.
I got one for Christmas yesterday. I didn’t so my research and realize there were no pre slots for items and it’s up to us how to organize everything. I’m very glad i made this mistake because this is totally awesome!!!!! I just ordered pouches and holsters. I’m super excited!!!!!
The one thing I don't like about both the 2.0 Ready Pack and looks like this 3.0 version, is that there is not velcro throughout the whole main pocket. I started using my Vertx Gamut as a medical kit and it allowed me to use all the velcro backing to attach pouches to it. But I won't be able to really use the ready packs as a dedicated medical kit. However, I think if they did something like the Gamut and made the laptop sleeve removable it might be kinda bulky, and if they made the same sleeve just with loop backing it could be finicky 🤷♂
I just got my pack, 2024. Agree with everything except for the water bottle comment. I have an LTT 40 oz water bottle that fits snuggly and doesn't fall out. The Costco ThermoFlask 40 oz with the silicone bottom also fits with some fenagling.
Hey Sam! I understand these bags are best suited to ones lifestyle and I know the water bottle holder is a deal breaker for you! Your honest option do you think it’s worth the update?!
The Ready Pack and the Prepared Citizen V2 from Maxpedition are my two favorite EDC packs. I've used them both and neither one of them stand out at all, which is the point.
I think I really like the 3.0, don’t get me wrong I have a Green Heather/It’s black 2.0 model and it’s a great looking bag. But I don’t use most of the organizational pen pockets and stuff and I wish it was more customizable. The things I use don’t fit in their pockets so I have to have organizer pouches within the bag. It’d be nice just to make my own admin panels and not have to deal with the organizer pouches.
I have a question for you. You often talk about QuikCloth and the price is around $45usd. However, the one I see in store (in Canada) is around $20 and it's white packaging instead of the military green. What's the difference?
Hi, great review ! I don’t find the zipper pouch you added in the front pocket (I checked the Vertx internet site). Can you give me the references ? Thanks
I really wish they hadn't done away with the admin organization in the front bottom pocket. I was gonna buy one of these until I saw that that pocket was just slick now. That included "admin panel", aka just some velcro, mollle, and shock cord, is just sad. Gonna try to find one of the 2.0 bags.
Sam, what is the horizontal tan kit in the top Velcro section below your crash scissors at 3:25? Can you tell us what’s inside sometime? Txs for the helpful video.
Howdy. Do you have a page with your affiliate links? I've made a couple purchases with other companies that I later realized you might be an affiliate with and would like to try to support with my future purchases.
Nice Review..What is your favorite edc bag brand & model name can put edc patches if you have edc patches please?if you have edc patches put in big/sling/small pouches bag where you buying it & How much the edc patches please?
I’m not a fan of the blank pockets like that. I bought one advertised and setup a similar way from maxpedition and in the end things just felt a bit flimsier than they would have had the pockets been sewn in and I felt like a chump for paying additional costs on top of the bag to get the same functionality other bags offer at base.
I wish they would make the flap that covers the molle capable of being used as a beavertail as it is on their other packs, but otherwise this is a great upgrade.
I think I’m moving for the 3.0 for the back feature. My gamut backing looks like the 2.0 and it gets hot real quick. So I’m hoping the 3.0 will help out in that.
Hey Sam. Can you please do a review on the slishman collapsing traction splint please! I work ems and I love building my own kits. I'm considering getting one but I don't want to sink the money without seeing you do a video on it. PLEASE DO A REVIEW!!!!
Looking for a EDC that is civilian looking with plate pocket, can hold a back pack rifle, extra mags, laptop and medical EMS. So many packs, your insight appreciated or any reply.
kinda wished they'd have taken a note from the overland and removed the installed laptop sleeve and changed it to full molle interior with a removal Velcro sleeve
This might be a dumb question about ifaks but I'm just now getting into keeping first aid kits in all my cars and edc med. They come in the sealed package with all the badages, gauze etc inside the one pack. For an everyday kit or a car kit should I leave the contents in the vacuum sealed wrap or take that off?
Is there an exterior pouch outside of the vacuum sealed packaging? I would break the seal and make sure that you're familiar with all of the items and then repackage in a zippered organized pouch. Especially with items like tourniquets. Tq's won't melt if you took the kit out and it got wet, and other essential ifak items like a hemostatic agent will already have waterproof packaging.
@@isaiahshamar Yes I have a zipper ifak pouch. I figured it would be fine to take everything out of the one big vacuum sealed package to organise it in the pouch but I thought it best to check with people that knew more than I do first. Thanks for the info/help!
@@datsbonkers4614 You've got the right idea. And no problem! I'm no expert, but I've been building med/survival kits since I was younger. And unfortunately had to use them and my medical skills to save life. Organization really helps.
what will it take for Vertx to fix the bottle holders?!?! that's the ONE thing EVERYONE always complains about and they keep ignoring it. That's the main reason why i switched from the Ready to the Gamut and I still have the same issue.
As much I like my Vertx Transit Sling 2.0, as much I dislike this Vertx Ready pack. Transit Sling 2.0 is wisely designed and very ergonomic and tactical. It is perfect solution for off-body EDC: It’s relatively compact, slick and insures REAL quick draw. Moreover, with two IIIA ballistic plates it covers all my torso, when fully unzipped. Vertx Ready lacks all these features. Absolute and horrible failure! I am returning mine.
Useless upgrade of a bag. They literally remove options and then move you over to buying their Velcro backed accessory line in order to add organization
"Customization" aka stripping away features just to sell them back to customers. I get a few folks benefit from it as they already have such accessories but the average person won't. I get it from a business standpoint but it's still pretty lame.
This. The admin panel that was in that front pocket of the older models of the Ready Pack was perfect! If they sold a velcro admin panel that had the same layout I wouldn't be mad, but they don't, so here we are. Lol.
They got rid of the pouches in place for an empty Velcro so you can go and spend more money on vertx crap? FAIL the 2.0 is perfect this thing is garbage why anyone would spend money on this is ridiculous
