- THE TENT. Early October. Filling the wood bins. Checking deer stands and getting ready for fall and winter. My Dad is up at the folks cabin and is over splitting wood. A little rainy and wet but a lot was accomplished including some awesome cooking.

Nothing tastes better than cooking outdoors. Great roast.
Good to see your dad doing so well after the past year he's had. What a blessing! ❤
My family calls anything cooked in foil a hobo pouch...one of the best ways to cook while camping. The meals my mom made we wonderful. Brings back good memories of that old army tent we started out with before they got a camper.
Lost my Dad 19 june 18, he was 86. Had his share of health struggles just like your Dad. Ain't it amazing how tough they are at there age. Learned nearly everything i know from " The Old Man". Taught me to hunt and fish, and how to work with my hand's. If you can do any of those thing's even half way good. "Then there ain't no hill for a high stepper" great vid, keep em coming:)
now that i'm 65 i 'get' the adage, "growing old is not for sissies"!!
Love the tent videos 👍 Always hate to see them end. Thanks Joe! Take care and God bless ✌️
Really made me smile to see your dad splitting wood. We take our health for granted and it is great when things get back to "normal". 👍👍
The folks cabin is like a backwoods museum. Beautiful.
I just want to say that your dad sure looks great after his surgery. What a wonderful recovery he's made. God bless you all!
I just binge watched the entire building of the backwoods cabin. I have to say, your Dad is a freaking genius. I am just in awe of everything he built. The imagination to make that stuff is just incredible. Great job documenting everything.
The hunting prep and wood gathering is always my favorite video. I have snow falling out side, a log on the fire and a tent video...nothing better.
Oh, love that 6.0...music to my ears.
I sat with my young daughter this morning and watched much of this video. You kept the attention of a 5-year old! She had so many questions about you splitting and stacking wood! It was adorable. Thanks again!
Thank you C&C. I always watch your videos.
johnroosterrod65@gmail.com Punky Rooster, I was always given the nickname 'Rooster', due to my last name! I was from Minnesota, too, but went into the USMC in 1987. Semper Fidelis
Love it when the road turns from pavement to gravel. The tent is near. 😍
Joe's dad is a beast when it comes to making such beautiful things.
Hi Joe your dad really is a remarkable man giving all the has been through good to see him looking so well
Love watching your videos.
Had my wisdom teeth out a few hours ago and this pops up. What better way to recover than watch this. Thanks Joe. God bless.
Clash With Green wow I got mine coming up soon and I have been having horrible anxiety and I’ve been terrified abt doing it
Michael J I’m not going to lie buddy. It’s not a nice procedure. I’m still in a lot of pain now, taking codeine and antibiotics. All the best with your operation.
Michael J I had all mine taken out without being put under. It wasn’t bad at all. Make sure to have lots of rest!
Thanks for the replies guys! 🙏
Perfect night for a Tent vid! Wood stove blazing, touch of snow last night, bottom falling out of the thermometer tonight. Poor Joe - you have to watch Gunsmoke and we get to watch The Tent!
Hope you win the lottery someday so you can just make tent videos, your floor cleaning made me realize I should get the rubber flooring in my tent as well as my garage . He shed that it is.
Great to see your Dad looking so well. Your videos are enriched by him.
Glad to see my investments in aluminum and paper (plates) are going strong with Joe at the tent!!! Great video as usual Joe. You make it feel like we're right there with you. Never alone.
Love love your videos thank you
All I can do is join the chorus of people on this channel by saying how much I look forward to these videos.
You can make your own spray cleaner by filling an empty spray bottle with water and adding a couple of drops of dish soap and a ounce or so of vinegar ( optional ). It's a " foodsafe " cleaner. I learned to how make it several years ago while working in a restaurant kitchen. We would clean the counters with it in between making different sandwiches and such.
Lloydster45 I make something like that now for cleaning.
@@oceanbrzzz I was wondering if anyone else did that lol
Lloydster45 I also make one with baking soda added. Don’t use on counters though. Good for tubs, showers, toilets, sinks, BBQ grills...
@@oceanbrzzz Oh, you just have to shake it before using it, I guess ?
Lloydster45 it depends on the counter composition, the b. soda will act as a scouring agent and they specifically state in the mix instructions to not use it on my quartz counters. (Unsure about marble and granite, I don’t think I would scour them either). 🌝
16:26 That makes it look healthy, most excellent statement ever.
I really hope that Sarah makes it up this deer season, I have had this feeling all day that this is going to be her year! Hopefully for you all! Thanks for the vlog.
She will be there.
Thanks for carrying us back to the tent with you.
Your dads cabin is magnificent. What a craftsman!!
Every so often you express frustration and impatience with a chore but you never skip a step, take a shortcut or say "good enough". That's so admirable, as is keeping spare dampers and pipe around, just in case.
Breakfast with the Tent ! It is going to be a GREAT Day !!
I love how you are with your Dad. It may seem like a small thing to you or I, but it means so much to him I'm sure.
I hope to live like this one day. Off the grid, in the middle of no where. Someday..... fingers crossed 🤞
Same chad same
Go for it Chad!
Chad am working on my funds to get some land. In Miami FL is expensive!
Just found your channel; great to hear that accent.
I was born and raised in Cloquet, lived in Duluth; now transplanted to OKC.
These will help me get my Northwoods fix, so thanks.
You need to subscribe to my other channel which is Northern Seclusion. We live in Cloquet so you will see a lot of it in those videos.
Just wanted to say I been watching your guys videos for a year or 2 now and I really enjoy your videos. I really respect your work ethic and how your always working on completing a project. Watching you guys has inspired me to work harder on the things I want in life. Keep up the good content.
Thank you Brandon. The hardest thing about getting things done is just starting the project.
You are the "eternal Boy Scout" 😊 I'm envious of your Tent as well. I think everyone should have one. The world would be a much better place.
Not going to watch now. Will wait for wife to get home from work this evening where we will be grilling pork steaks and cooking pan fried red potatoes followed by a viewing of “The Tent” for our date night (married 39 years)! Thanks Joe for all the work you do in producing these videos. We really look forward to watching them and again thank you for sharing your time with us.
I hope your date night was a success. Thank you for the comment.
Joe, you are the hardest working man on youtube!
That backwoods cabin is a real show place. Some cable channel needs to do a episode on it.
Thank you Joe, great video once again. I must say it was really needed as I lost my mom this last week, she was 82 and really enjoyed watching them as well. I can't wait till deer season and hopefully all the family joining you up at the tent, but with all the new additions to the family maybe not lol. Anyway thank you for the time you put into making these videos because I know it can be frustrating when they don't do what there supposed to do. Hi Melissa hope you're well, and your Dad looked so awesome out there right beside each other getting ready for the season. Thanks again and all the best and stay safe.
Prayers for you, I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. It is special to me that she watched the videos also. Melissa says Hi as well. Thank you for the nice yet sad comment.
I just love when you go to the cabin these videos are priceless. I feel like im there relaxing with you guys. Thanks for giving us the best relaxing wonderful adventures.🤗🤗
Thanks Joe for not responding to trolls, not giving attention and they all moved on and disappeared! Great channel. That moose was amazing too!
The only channel where I can like before watching, never any doubt it’s 👍
The colors with the sun..amazing!!! Yes is nice to see pop well recovered and hardly working!
Thanks for sharing joe, another enjoyable tent video. Keep on rocking that polka music. 😆
So many good memories this conjures up..thanks Joe!
Thank you for making these videos I really enjoy watching them
My favorite time of year
I love listening to tell Sarah it's 430 time to get up Sarah it's 500 time to get up I used to do that to my brother but now we are on different paths wish we could go back love the time together love your shows brings back so many memories thank you
I could listen to you walk through the woods all day long. Love the crunch under your feet. You should do a loop video of that that lasts 8 hours. I mean it. It’s so soothing. Yeah I’m one of those, LOL
I absolutely love watching your videos! You really make us feel like we are there with you. You, sir, should bottle your energy and sell that! We’d all buy it. Keep up the good work and know that it is much appreciated and enjoyed. Until next time.
A good background noise is any John Wayne western movie, Gunsmoke (B&W), Lonesome Dove, Jerimiah Johnson... Nice vid.
great to see your dad out and about looks like he's doing really well. love the video , good job.
Joe I see the nice relaxing Adirondack chairs you’ve built but I never see you relaxing in them. Love your videos. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.
They are just for show! Lol!
Joe I watch Columbo never get tired of him each time I watch I always pick up another clue, God Bless you and your family.
Alpha is a excellent movie .the area the tent is at is stunningly beautiful rustic elegance and peacefulness including the folks cabin ,I love it !
I noticed when your Dad was running the splitter, his left hand was close to the wedge. I have a friend that used to build these machines. We were out delivering a splitter to a customer and during demonstration I picked up a log by the ends. I was told by the customer to always handle a log by the sides when placing it on the machine. I will always enjoy your videos. you might tell your dad to put his hand on TOP of the log to steady it.
My dad has always worn a hat, ball cap type. He would use it to swat a wasp or bee. As a kid when splitting wood with him if ones hands were near the ends of a log while near the splitter he would also use his hat to swat one on top of their head. That thing hurt lol. But we all still have our fingers and it only took a few reminders. To this day I pick up firewood on the bark side as much as possible.
Another fantastic video! Can’t wait for deer season 2019 the movie! Always good to see your Dad getting around great! As always great cooking!
Gunna save this for tomorrow ( Friday)night , is better than the crap on tv 📺.... late Thursday evening here 🇦🇺....great pic of the moose ....
You just got another subscriber. I myself am a person who stutters, and it's great to see other people who stutter as well.
Thank you Gerald and welcome.
You’re a very neat n organize person
I just love watching your videos when your at the tent. I'm not a hunter. I do love to fish. I love your cabin and your dads. You're a great cook. My mouth was watering. Yummy! You keep everything so nice and tidy and nice. I enjoy watching. Oh congratulations on your third grandchild. She's so beautiful.
I'll tell you one thing dude you're a really good cook
Thx for sharing Joe....it was the perfect weekend!!
Here I am, missing the tent. Watching it for the 3rd time lol
Same way here. Love it when it's cold up there and Joe has to get that wood stove going.
I absolutely love your videos. Have you ever been there when a blizzard has happened? You should do a contest. Winner gets to stay at the cabin. ( If you haven’t guessed, I’d love to stay.)😀👍
I have been up there for a couple of 10 inch plus snowstorms but none were considered blizzards.
its fun to watch just to see how crazy busy you can get!
Then you need to be watching my other channel called Northern Seclusion also. Things are very busy over there right now.

Hey Joe it’s great to see your father, God bless him! 👍👍👍😎
Awesome Mr. Joe love the tent videos and all your other content!! Thank you so much for taking the time to take us along with you.
Always satisfying cutting, splitting & stacking firewood.
Jan French its therapeutic for me. It burns off frustration and gives you time to think. Even humbling if you get a few knots in there.
Very nice cabin
I love that wood stove
It is always nice to go to the cabin, I was hoping to see some shooting but I guess we can't have everything. Sorry about the weather. Dad and you kicked ass on the wood pile. You know you can go to flea markets and pickup new videos for a buck. Agfa was good. I love those kinds of movies that don't say a thing. Like in Castaway, Tom Hanks acting in the silent parts was so good. Till next time take care and don't forget....bottled water.
I own stock in Reynolds wrap and it makes me happy to see the amount of foil he uses. Ill be rich in no time!
Hahahahaah😁😀
I laughed...hard. 🤣
Love the tent videos, 2 months from the last time you were there last, wow beat that kills you not getting up there more often. What an awesome peaceful place!
Yes happy the tents back love it this time of year!!!
Love the videos Joe thanks for sharing a part of your life. Thanks.
Heck i've had 3 snacks watching this. Your cooking looks yummy.
Glad to see you and your Dad back up at the tent and cabin
I liked the goose story Joe!!!
You mainly talk about deer I deer hunt to but my love of all is waterfowl hunting. Yes I fo remember Max!!!
I haven’t replaced Aces my black Lab after his passing. It’s like your cheating? Lol
You have that one dog and you know it will never be the same. I’m 55 Ace has been gone 10 years now just about as long as he lived.
another great video, re: stovepipe cap... we just put a bucket over our stovepipe when we leave instead of a cap
Your an awesome dad! Theres no way my dad would give us these opportunities unless we were willing to work with him. Splitting fire wood, splitting electric payments, mowing, taxes ect. You seem to handle 100% of responsibilities and I applaud you for your dedication.
Joe your a Good man, me and my 17 yr old daughter found you on RUclips by accident, so for over a week we’ve been binge watching, she wants to see Melissa and I just like what you do, your a good family man, we both enjoy your food except when it’s 9:30 at night and you make us hungry lol, God Bless you and your family
Thank you Jeff. Please say hello to your Daughter also.
Have any of you other fans tried to analyze why we like to watch Joe stack wood, complain about his clocks, show us his propane tanks, cook and eat enough foods for 3 people, and worry about his bottled water supply? I find these type of video just as satisfying as when they are hunting but I'm just not sure why🤷♀️ Keep it up Joe!!!!!!!!!!
I like his channel because he is REAL. He doesn't feel he has to change for anyone! He can be his self. Isn't that really unconditional love? Accepting someone without judgement! We love him and his family! 😎👍
It just absolutely relaxing too watch and see someone so Damm organized love the videos
Hey Joe put lighting fluid, butter, and seasoning on your shopping list, just busting on you love your videos good stuff!!!!!! And good luck hunting season.
Thanks Joe for sharing and good to see your Dad is out and about, readying everything for Deer hunting. Think you may have put in a touch too much juice!
Love the tent videos 🙂 so relaxing!!
You're fortunate to still have your dad with you. I'm about your age and my dad's been gone for almost twenty years
Thanks for these great videos!! so relaxing watching it...
Interesting, have you lived off grid before or can you ? I'm building a animal sanctuary in New Mexico surrounded by 300000 Acres. I would not change my life for anything, it's so beautiful and totally amazing life. Just a thought.
