I miss Mark Teixeira the old school gang A-Rod, Jeter, Sandman, C.C., Cano, Melky, Damon, Gardy, Posada
I miss the old gang...berra mantle ford reynolds rizzuto and most importantly...billy martin...billy= hof
Fr
gardy is the only one left in the yankees out of that group of players
Everytime you watch a Yankees game this year remember Jacoby is getting paid 86,420 to watch it too.
Samuel Green lmao
Burning 26 million dollars that's half the Rays salary LOL what I'd give to have that kind of money
true! and imagine getting paid that to eat hot wings? lol!
Lol talk about living the American dream
Would you give...ass?
Rays Fan...
The Rays make more money per game in Yankee Stadium than at the Trop.
The only thing that still has my head scratching is that the Yankees bidded against themselves.
Who?
Lmao
Great, what has he done for me lately?
You mean what has he done for me ever?
@@tmaz85 Y'know you're not wrong
About time!!! Couldn't they have done this last year, or the year before, or the year before that????
@curragh 42 thx. Did not know about insurance.
They gave $153 million to a guy who had ONE GREAT YEAR before they signed him. The jokes just write themselves
Teixeira is very good, no crap : excellent Ellsbury analysis : if not physically 100%, not productive.
Thanks for the post 👍
Finally ABOUT TIME
Finally, even in foresight that contract wasn't a good idea.
I’m a Red Sox fan and I agree with Michael Kay . I was a bit shocked after the 2013 season when the Red Sox didn’t even tried to offer jacoby a contract is like they didn’t care anymore and with good reasons not only did the Red Sox knew that something was wrong with Ellsbury but they had stars like Mookie Betts Jackie coming up from the minors . Makes sense if you think about it
Maskill Maldonado, Yankee fan and I wonder if the Yankees had their current analytics prowess in 2013, would they have signed Ellsbury? Will always be a question what the Red Sox knew, or was it simply a question of salary avoidance? Sox made one of the greatest moves of all time by not signing him, racking up outfield WAR 7-1/2 x what Ellsbury did, about 60 to 8, at about 42 percent of his salary.
Any guess on where Mookie ends up with JD staying? A couple months ago I was saying the Red Sox could look like the Marlins in a couple years if the right moves aren't made. And, wrong thread, what are Red Sox fans' thoughts, if any, as to what could happen to Cora if he gets caught up in the Astros mess? He had to know and practically said so in London.
I remember cringing when that deal took place
Such a bad deal for a guy he kept getting injured
Thank god
Always felt like he was a Boston plant to bring down the Yankees
Thank God!!!
As a BoSox fan I liked Jake but he was always injury prone.
As a fan 😂😉😁 I hope we got our YES shirts. Team. M
I know we want ours.
I’m happy about Garcia coming up
Tex is partly right but I would stop short of feeling bad for the guy. He is the most miserable guy who makes 20 mil a year. As far as wanting to get back on the field I don’t buy the excuses that Tex made. You play when you can period. If he feels so bad about it then refund some of the damn money!
Robbie Garnz I dont want players who arent 100 % playing in important games...if it is the regular season, then fine but not in the playoffs...gary Sanchez and edwin Encarnacion cost the yankees games in the playoffs because they looked awful after coming back from injury...they clearly weren't at 100 %
Didn’t Billy Crystal have more at bats the Ellsbury during his tenure as a yankee?
So happy the Yankees took him from the Sox!!
I laughed my ass off when I saw this contract when he signed
I’ll be honest I liked the guy and when he was healthy he was a good lead off hitter and I refuse to believe he was injured for this long but anyway hope he finds a team that takes him maybe the marlins
Dr Shrimp Puerto Rico I doubt it at this point. His on base productivity was already on decline when he came to New York, his speed is cut down due to numerous injury issues, wrong side of 30, and no power to speak of. What he has left may not be enough for anyone to take a chance on him, maybe he has some miraculous burst of what he was before, but I highly doubt it. Even just before David Wright retired, he had more skills left in him than Ellsbury. So I’m not holding out anything more than a fifth OF spot at best.
Jacoby should have given the money back voluntarily. He hasn’t played in over 2 years. Yankees fault for enabling the robbery.
Welcome back to Boston
MacG omg could u imagine ?!?!? And he hits 270 or 280 lmao wow whatta slap in the Yankees face 🤦🏻♂️
You mean he was still on the team?
Sucks to have those types of injuries. But if you can’t do your job, you can’t do your job. It’s a business at the end of the day.
153,000,000!! Let that number sink in. He made 300K a game. How does cashman still have a job?!?!
So GM's arent allowed to make 1 mistake out of 100 choices they make??
I have nothing against the dude, I always thought he was a decent player. But holy shit it's about damn time. THANK GOD
Good
Finally !🤦🏽♂️
Jacoby was really good with the red Sox too
Surprised he played in 520 games. That's three and a quarter years. That's like 45 million a year.
Giancarlo needs to be let go too, his the next Ellsbury
La melma zero uno K
You can't just let Stanton go. MLB contracts are fully guaranteed so they'd still have to pay him $244 Million.
Let's Go Champ Also, he’s an elite player as well
Thank u about time he didn't want2play just wanted the 💰
I wonder how many other GM's would have survived this.
If George were still around Cashman would've disappeared like Jimmy Hoffa
We already have our next Jacoby Ellsbury: Giancarlo The Jinx Stanton. Get rid of the jinx and we’ll win the WS.
Would've won in 2017 if the Astros didn't cheat to win all 4 of their games at home in the ALCS
tex on ells tmks
That last comment about how the Red Sox let the Yankees signed Jacoby lol
I mean if the Yankees wanted to pay $150+ millions for a player that only had 1 good season lol probably the Red Sox weren’t not even close to match that offer and it’s not cause they knew something , it’s cause the guy was not worth that money
He had multiple good seasons...hitting 32 home runs in a season was a fluke for him but he was one of the best leadoff hitters for a while with the Sox
finesse
Does this mean the Yankees will sign JBJ after his prime in his 30's just like Ellsbury and Damon? Hope not.
Damon worked out though.
Yeah at least Damon helped the Yanks win in 09'. I still remember watching him steal 2 bases at once in the World Series. That really helped us win that one game.
The worst Deal in baseball history!
At least A-Rod had the decency to retire before playing out his last year knowing he couldn't play anymore and forfeited the last year of his contract which I think was nearly $30 million
Did not know he forfeited his last year. He really didn't have to do that
I was once diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. I could not walk without a crutch. They put me on an 18 month rehab program telling me that this program was 40% successful. If the program did not work after 18 months then they would operate. They did not want to operate right away because the operation was so high risk I could suffer permanent disability. I did not go back to them.
A couple of painful months later I was at Dunkin's across the street from an old girl-friend's house. She came out and asked me why I was on the crutch. When I told her she said she could fix that.
I went with her to her treatment room ( she was an alternate medicine therapist ) and lay on her work bench. She said. "This is really going to hurt you but I don't mind because you really hurt me when you broke my heart." Then she grabbed my foot in a judo hold we called a "monkey bite" when I was a kid and squeezed her thumb up into the bottom of my foot. I screamed. I begged her to stop. She held me down. I cried out and pleaded with her to stop but all she said was "I have almost found it. Ah ! Yes. Yes. There it is." And instantly a ripple of relief spread through my entire body as every muscle in my body went limp.
I stood up and I could walk again. I was completely cured and have never had that problem ever again. I asked her how much I owed her. She said "I should pay you. I have been dreaming of making you scream like that for the past 8 years. Boy do I feel good just hearing you scream."
Danggg
@@asiaroberson3442 it is a true story. What I described happened 21 years ago. I still see the woman fairly regularly. I asked her once how she would describe our present relationship.
She said she looked at me as if I were her sparring partner. Whenever she felt the need to punch someone out she would call me up and invite me over for dinner. She says that whenever I feel the need for someone to kick the living shit out of me I could come over and she would gladly do it.
Ain't love wonderful!
Cashman got burned by Boras with Ellsbury. Yankees need to be very careful dealing with Boras. Never a contract that exceeds 5 years.
It might not be quite as bad but watch out for Aaron Hicks's 7-year $70million contract next. Just a hunch
Requinix17 you mean the same guy who hit a 3 run homer against verlander in a game 5
@@shannysalcedo3627 yep
Before signing Jacoby Ellsbury I was quoted as saying "Why are we paying all of that money for a slightly better, injury prone Brett Gardner? This feels like Carl Pavona all over again."
After signing Jacoby Ellsbury: "How much did we pay for him? We already have a deep platoon of outfielders. That's money we could have spent on a starting pitcher!"
After releasing Jacoby Ellsbury: "I was hoping I would be wrong but it is vindicating to see this happen."
Cringe..
I thought he was already an analyst somewhere
He is. He on ESPN
Can't win them all. Cashman has had most of his worst luck with pitchers, not position players.
You could argue that guy on the phone was also a bit of a bust too.
@Ocasio-Cortez4prez2022 really he just had one good year. Hit 290 with 39 hr in 2009. After that he was a 250 hitter who would hover around 30 hrs. He didn't have more than 84 RBIs in his last 6 years with the Yankees.
@@mikesannitti6042 what about his defense??
Thank God!! What a WASTE OF MONEY!!
Was an AWFUL signing from day 1.
Ellsbury is GUTLESS
Never thought he was a Yankee. Should've stayed in Boston
Kinda like Gardner now
That's an incredibly unfair assessment of Ellsbury. Players don't make the lineups. To say that Ellsbury didn't care because he didn't play in a WC game....by that same logic, Giancarlo Stanton didn't care during the 2019 ALCS because he was hurt and couldn't play. And of course, we found out later that Stanton was hurt and that he wanted to play, but that the Yankees didn't let him because they thought he might be okay for the World Series roster.
THANK FUCKING GODDDDDD !!! Biggest WASTE OF MONEY in Yankee history outside of Kei Igawa and POSSIBLY Stanton !!
$153 million to show up to work an average of 104 days a year for 5 years. And then get to sit on your ass the next 2 years doing nothing. Where can I sign up for something like that???
At last
He’s STILL in the league??
Who’s Jacoby Ellsberg?
Fire Cashman!
that was your fucking teammate Tex
The Yankees should be ashamed of themselves for signing this player it was the worse contract next to Carl pravano, and Alex. He took that money paid well without playing for it. This has got to change
So sad
They never learn
How good was teixera as a yankee?
I’m asking only Yankee fans for their opinion.
Without him we don't have #27. A good clubhouse guy. Robbed by injuries as well. A phenomenal 1st baseman when healthy
Far better than Ellsbury.
@@Relentlezz41 I respect your opinion but Matsui was the real reason why we won #27
@@juniornation9036 it was many pieces. It was a well oil machine. Excellent rotation, solid relief pitching, and a lineup from every position. Tex, Godzilla, and Alex were important. Tex was part of what could have been a dynasty.
Sometimes I think the yanks paid out horrible contracts long term just to win the WS that year.
You mean he is still around??
If spending the most money can get you championships then the yankees win every year ...too bad is a bit more complicated than that..since the old man passed it has been quite a journey🤦♂️
Hey wait I thought he was a Hall of Famer / second coming of Jesus Christ, because he played for the Yankees
Whats a Jacoby Ellsbury?
And we should have kept cano
Brandon White, absolutely not! Give me Torres/didi/lemehieu/urshella any day over cano. 260 million is outragous for cano imo.
Lets hope They dont release didi
You can’t release Didi if you don’t have him in the first place
In hindsight keeping Cano wouldn't have been much better. Plus it eventually kinda led to Torres so I'll take that.
Tex, stop bullshitting! He was a terrible signing and had no interest in playing for the Yankees, had no problem getting paid by them but had no desire to play for the Yankees or even just Baseball for that matter. Good riddance to Red Sux garbage!!!
To be fair, he was a "Yankee killer" at the time of signing him. I do not think he was a significant upgrade over who we had in the outfield. He was a slightly better version of Brett Gardner. Him being injury prone was a major red flag and definitely not worth 26 million for a minor upgrade in left field. We needed starting pitching back then and still do now.
And not every former Red Sox player is trash. I mean, thats how we got Babe Ruth. And Johnny Damon contributed in his short stint with the Yankees. Jacoby is still a smaller bust than Carl Pavano.
@@SeemsLogical he was trash...we had Brett Gardner...
Trust and believe I know all the history of red suck players who became Yankees...but he was a bust...he pretty much made me right on everything about him... thought he was a fluke, thought he was fragile and thought he wasn't needed...right on all three....one of the worst signings...
@@thedeucemonkey2331 I was against signing him at the time too. But at the time of signing he was not a fluke. He had a higher batting average and he was a bigger base stealing threat. Everything else he was about even with Gardner. I didn't want Elsbury because I didn't think the Yankees needed him, not because he was overrated. He was a good player, he isn't one now. The Yankees lost their bet thinking he would amount to more.
ANOTHER WASTE OF MONEY AGAIN! BOSTON REDSOX KNEW SOMETHING.SMDH EXCUSES AGAIN.WOW
RICH DEILO 56 Redsox didn’t knew anything they go by a philosophy by the age of 30 players decline that’s why they go for young prospects
what you guys think of the yankees not wanting to pay now cause he went to different doctors
dude where the fuck is he
Got to watch your competitor!Isn't that who Boston is!
THAT'S DA REASON Y SOX DIDN'T SIGNED HIM!
I hope people see the irony in Yankee's fans complaining that their big free agents not being passionate about playing for the Yankee's. You're the team with the money. You're gonna get the free agents who care about money.
Wasted contract by cashman
The most expensive bench player in history!
Maybe not the worst deal the yankees ever made but pretty close to it. good bye stiff.
James McKee no brother, it was the worst deal in Yankees history !!!!!
Not just that. Maybe one of the worst all time for any team
And it sucks that the Yankees have to pay this bum. He never wanted to come back. Why should he. He's getting paid doing nothing.
What was so special about him anyway? And he hardly ever smiled...
He had a great contract year and . . . I don't know lol
😂😂😂
Thank god we got rid of the most injury prone player in the league
They git rid of Hicks? Oh wait...
Yanks release who? Jacoby ?
GO TO THE WHITE SOX JACOBY
Goodbye worst signing in Yankee history (even worse than pavano and igawa)
what about the second contract for A-Roid?
@@dajosee I guess bc of his first contract it's easy to forget that second one. The second one may be worst lol
Actually I would say Igawa was worse though Ellsbury signing isn't that much better.
@@kylegustafson6088 are you insane lol...at least ellsbury produced when he was healthy. If ellsbury was getting paid what gardner was making, he would be considered a solid sign by cashman...Igawa was sent to the minors I think because he was god awful
Ellsbury's dead I hated him anyways.
Super bust
Worst than carl pavano remember that guy??
Yankee fans have no class at all
Of all people to criticise someone for not playing hurt it's Teixeira? The guy who would sit out for ass cramps? GTFO here Mark. You weren't the epitome of team first either
Worst signing in baseball history. Teixeira wasn't much better -- always injured. Now the Yanks have Stanton. Stop signing glass figurines, Cashman.
He was still better than brett gardner
On a rare occasion he was healthy.
Mark, no offense but YOU also had an injury-riddled career. Marks was not as bad as Jacobys was but remember this
2009-2011 Over 155 games played per year. Beast numbers
2012 - 123 Games Played
2013 - 15 Games Played
2014 - 123 Games Played
2015 - 111 Games Played
2016 - 116 Games Played.
NEVER played 124 games or more after 2011 every season.
Be careful Mark when you want to shoot on someone for being injured.
Look in the mirror man
Mark defended the guy lol think you misinterpreted the video
@@christopherballance1698 ikr
Giradi didn’t start Ellsbury back in 2015 b/c he never liked the guy. How would a Yankee manager like any Red Sox players. Shame on Giradi
What an expensive joke he was!
Thank god
Who?
