My great, great grandfather, Jesse Wentworth Crosby, was Joseph Smith’s bodyguard. I have a copy of Jesse’s Jornal and love reading it. I absolutely love these stories. I know they’re true. Thank you, for sharing.
Yes! My ancestor describes receiving an "endowment" in the Kirtland Temple. It was different. But he writes: "I also received my endowments in the House of the Lord in the winter and spring of 1836 with the rest of the Elders by ordinations, washings, annointings, sealings, etc." Whenever I hear someone giving a lesson saying, "Oh, they didn't do any of that..." I almost want to stop them and tell this story. But I would derail the lesson!
@@CliffWarren Everyday I'm reminded of Doctrine and Covenants 57:1-3, Doctrine and Covenants 58:57, Doctrine and Covenants 84:2-5, 31 and Doctrine and Covenants 124:49-51. Especially: "Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city of New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared IN THIS GENERATION. For verily THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT ALL PASS AWAY until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud rest upon it, which cloud shall be even the glory of the Lord, which shall fill the house. …which house shall be built unto the Lord IN THIS GENERATION, upon the consecrated spot as I have appointed.” But no city of New Jerusalem, no Temple, no cloud. Unless you count the Community of Christ Temple.
Thank you, Brother Pettit, I felt the spirit as you shared these stories and your testimony. This topic is so appropriate for this time and I appreciate your helping me to learn more about Kirtland and what wonderful things occurred here. Your great efforts in preparing these presentations and sharing them with us is so appreciated. Don't ever think otherwise.
This is amazing how you can rattle all this off the top of your head! You are amazing and tell great stories of the restoration. thank you!😅❤😊 it is truly so exciting that we have Kirtland now back with us and also so many places in Navuoo, and all that history and artifacts and the JST translation of the Bible manuscript.
I disagree when people say we should not talk about our spiritual experiences. Yes, we should not parade them around, but what is the point of withholding our great witness of God and His mercies? When we are in the Celestial Kingdom, we will continually partake in those sacred experiences etc… During the Millennium we will see marvelous things and witness together great spiritual treasures which we will share with one another. Imagine if all the ancient prophets kept their experiences to themselves… I do not agree with that at all. Again, I am not saying share your experiences “willy nilly” but do share them with other faithful members that ALL might be edified and know that God is. It’s so disturbing when people say “don’t bear your witness of the Saviors mercies” very sad how this generation believes to withhold their experiences from others. Even God Himself desires to give all that He has to us, we, the swine of all… Let us follow in HIS example and desire to share all that we have with those who are the true followers of Jesus Christ.
Thank you, brother Pettit. Looking forward to the next episode of this interesting Kirtland era! I was born about 75 miles from Kirtland and grew up even closer, BUT, I never knew it existed until I was 37 years old and it took about a 4 to 5 hour drive to get there. I love Kirtland and it's wonderful history! Beautiful stories each time I visit! But now, I live in St. George and it is like a 4 to 5 hour flight plus a bit of a drive to get there. I love how you share the experiences from Kirtland and Hiram, Ohio! You do a wonderful job. Thank you for taking the time to prepare and share!❤
Excellent Tom excellent job on Kirtland very informative and wonderful. I always love the story of Joseph, seeing the vision of Alvin and his father in a celestial Kingdom while his father's still alive. Cool
My favorite church history place when on the tour was the John Johnson home. It was so incredible to think I was standing in the same room where the Father and Son appeared.
Absolutely wonderful! “Can you imagine how fast those men must have flown down the stairs and out the door to tell mother Lucy what they saw!” Be still my heart! What glorious next level revelations and visions! The veil is bursting! Thank you for reminding us of this sacred events! ☀️❤️
Oh, that was more than well worth my time! Thank you so much for bringing to life what happened in Kirtland, especially with the appearances of our Saviour Jesus Christ. I loved it when you told us how Joseph would say "This is Jesus Christ" and then, "This the Father." It was so loving and so personal.
When I saw Jesus, I knew that He had always been there. He escorted me home to God the Father and was there with me at all times at my right hand. Got to see the angels of God, and those in my family who had died in Christ during my lifetime were there to greet me. Got to see my grandchildren before they were born, before they died. Also, God's Life, Light, and Love permeated everything, including me. Saw the Glory and Majesty of Our Lord God.
I simply hunger for the story of Kirtland experience and how sorrowful it was for me to watch the saints be forced to leave the. You have done a remarkable presentation of the sacred place that was indelible in my studies
These again are the days of Pentecost. My self, and many I know again, have had a great out pouring of the Spirit. He comes and goes at his pleasure, and he lives.
Oh, Brother Pettit, I was filled with the spirit as you told these stories and read from the scriptures. I have pioneer blood. My grandfather, Duncan Spears Casper was with those very saints. He was a good friend of Joseph and Brigham and a faithful follower. It is because of him that my family who I most remember in Salt Lake City, Utah are members of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. We even have a pioneer cemetary many of our family are buried in. The same cemetery Presiden Faust is buried in. I will be forever grateful for the sacrifice and faithfulness of our Prophets and my ancestors. Every day I marvel at how great a blessing to be a part in this bigger picture of our Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ. I also marvel at the greatest gift of all given to us by our Lord and Savior when he atoned for us in the most loving and painful way. Because of Him, I can be cleansed, and every Sunday i look at that sacrament table and dedicate again to be better and try harder. Not in a toxic perfectionistic way, but with my best foot forward and I am letting Him make more of me than I could have EVER done myself. Thank you so much for this video to remind me and teach me of the grand events in Kirtland. We spread His love, by spreading His amazing gospel. You are loved! Thank you for your discipleship.
It is sad that even today there is such animosity toward the Church and its members in Ohio. Such great and powerful occurrences happened there in that area, where spiritual experiences still occur today. Truly the spirit of the LORD and those early saints linger in that special area.
Mr. Pettit ~ I very much enjoyed your presentation of selected stories in the days of the Kirkland Temple along with the revelations adjacent. I appreciate your insight to those monumental events in these latter days. Keep deep diving. I look forward to more of "the Ohio." S ~
I love the story of Alive, and I often believe that he had to leave to be a leader in the work on the otherside as Joseph hear worked his great work. One of the greatest things brought back to this world was his true Christ like Love. This is the greatest signs of any of his true servants is they possess this unending witness of Charity for the Savior is Charity and longs for all to feel the whole of truth and Joy that he feels. Ii challenge you to find even one account that is true of a Prophet not possessing this great Christ like love of Charity.
Milo Andrus my great great grandpa has some cool testimony of the Kirkland dedication. Question for you. What are your thoughts on why we don't seam to have much of a pentocostal experience in the church anymore? Not even really talked about
Please share your thoughts on D&C 117 and Oliver Granger’s sacrifice and how March 5, 2024 is a testament to the blessing the Lord gave on behalf of Oliver Granger’s sacrifice. I spoke on it briefly, but there is soo much more I missed but I am sure you will see with your background in Church history! Thank you!
First of all. Thank you I throughly enjoy your teachings. However, as I look back over my notes I only caught 3 of the 4 visits of the Father and Son together. What did I miss?😢
Watcher Palmer has posted a video with John Hewlett as his guest. John shares the story of how he and Carl Anderson, I think, got the permission, permits, and money to get the renovations done on several of the Kirtland historic sites. It was very fascinating

He is a church historian . One of the best . He makes sure what he shares is true . I have heard these stories before too.
The church is true i believe all this wonderful information

Well done!
Who sent this to me? This was wonderful, thank you.
This so such a wonderful lesson I believe it all
Did they have a 1829 and 1828 Websters, because I keep hearing only an 1828 version.
Next will be a Temple in Jerusalem
Audio was good 👍🏽
