Indeed...the old British built structures, while may not seem at par with today's sophistication and technology, had a unique charm. And yes, there is absolutely no questioning of their reliability owing to the fact that these bridges and structures have survived for so many years!! This video compilation is truely outstanding!! it left my wife speechless while watching it ;-)
What a fantastic camera work giving beautiful bridges and valley views with a background music of MG trains running noise and occasional purr of YDM 4. Really a treasure as people protest for BG conversion of this line. Thank you so much.
There are many MG bridges which are still intact today & can be easily seen from new BG trains running on the opposite mountain across the Barak valley. Dhanuk at 7:20 is one such viaduct.
I will always prefer train over flight. I love train journey. Those train track sounds and iron bridges sound is simply soothing experience. Thank You So Much for sharing 🙏💙
Ohhhhh wow! This is by far one of the most spectacular videos of a Indian rail journey I have ever witnessed. What an amazing area filled with so many bridges and viaducts. Outstanding stuff.!!!
This is going straight into my favorites as it encompasses everything I love about MG and indeed IR itself. There's breathtakingly beautiful scenery, amazing YDM4 chugging and honking, long viaducts, and last but certainly not least, the incomparable MG sounds and atmosphere. Amazing capture Vijay and I daresay it's one of your best ones yet.
That this line of railroad is beautiful! The bridges are exceptional. Certainly one of the most beautiful railway video I know. You make us want to travel in these passenger cars. Congratulations.
EXCELLENT!! EXCELLENT... the dyang bridge at 3:08 appears to be the best!! i couldn't believe seeing rooftop pax in this route... they must be BLOODY bold to travel that way in this route!!
Wow what a beautiful scenic and risky journey ! Metre gauge small but cute coach ! No side berth or seats ! Line of windows ! Shaking coaches ...hmmmm ...miss you MG trains !
Since I enjoyed these bridges so much, I HAD to do justice to that by creating some sort of compilation. Bridges such as this truly make this a very memorable section in all of IR. Unfortunately, concrete bridges are being employed on the BG line in construction - so all these will disappear with conversion :-(
When I was a small kid. My father used to take me to my native place... a small hamlet named Bihara. My grandparents used to live there. We used to journey by train... from Guwahati... Cachar Express or Barak Valley Express.... meter gauge! From Halflong, a steam locomotive used to join us.... do the pushing job as our diesel locomotive tugged the coaches through the steep incline... passing through 36 dark tunnels and a greater number of viaducts. The sound of the shrill steam whistle is still fresh in my memories....
Other than "sometime next year" I am still not sure yet. But since I have friends now living there and a possible job opportunity there, i hope to be there for a long time once i do get there, and to ride as many trains as possible then - love the trains!
at 0:32 i can see three bridges...1 on which ur train is there...the 2nd is below and the third is above at right top corner are the other two bridges road or new bridges for BG ?
just completed watching the whole video...awesome compilation and good to see a one full long video rather multiple videos of 1mins. btw who built this magnificent railway, british or we indians ? :P
i m very thankful to u for taking the video shoots of rail journey through barak valley . i think if this is route is converted to broad guage then it has the potential to be the best railway route in india.. even it can kokan railway
Glad you are enjoying the videos! The BG route will be very scenic, no doubt! However, it will bypass one of the most sections (currently on MG) due to a different alignment.
Thanks, Kumar! I, too, was appalled to see roof-top travelers while the train was on the bridge. They remained standing as we went inside a tunnel - imagine!
Thanks again, Sanjay! I echo your thoughts about these magnificent bridges. Unfortunately, most of the BG bridges are all concrete and will not be nearly as exciting as these.
Mr.Mani Vijay, Fab video, just gave me goose bumps on seeing the videos, btw is the track singular or dual tracks are there for trains coming from opposite direction
Really glad that you enjoyed the video! This is all single line track. In fact, they are in the process of converting all this to Broad Gauge. So all the bridges shown here have a limited life!
Dear Sir, I had a wonderful two days journey in this line covering Agartala Lumding in monsoon showers and mist covered hills. It was really nice and also made me sad that this line is closing in Oct. 14. I could see a lot of work done on broad gauge line as it is independent of existing MG line in Assam and Agartala should be a simple conversion. May be it should be done in two years as the recent rail budget has made full allocation. I also heard from a senior Govt. of Assam employee that 36km stretch is likely to be announced as heritage and retained as MG. With MG going Lumding will lose its division status to Silchar as it has more facilities. Thanks a lot.
Good to hear from you and glad that you traveled on it at the right time - in monsoon! It's heartening to note that they are going to preserve 36 km. in MG.
Hello Sir, As u might be aware that this line is now converted to BG and plenty of trains have been introduced shortly with the conversion. But just wondering why the BG trains also have slowl speed (though it takes less time now due to minimisation of distance) but speed remains the same.Is it because of hilly terrain? If so then how come trains run at good speed in Konkan railway
Plenty of trains? There are three from Delhi, one from Kolkata and only one daily train - the passenger. Not even close when compared to how it was back in the 80s and 90s. Where are the BG avatars of Cachar, Barak Valley and Agartala-Lumding Exp. which were all daily trains? As you would have guessed by now, IR promises a lot after conversion but delivers little.
Mani Vijay You r right, but this is the step-motherly attitude of NFR towards Barak valley & Tripura as they r are always concerned for Upper Assam part. However, some more trains have been introduced like an overnight passenger special, Agartala Rajdhani express & Trivandrum express which is going to b extended to Silchar from 18th Nov.
Others have told me the same thing while watching this..but, for some reason, I didn't have any fear while going on them. Maybe, because I was too excited :-)
The British built it. The line from Damcharra to Lumding was opened in December 1903. We Indians are now destroying the MG line by building a BG one :-)
I had a strong feeling you would love this :-) Just for these majestic bridges alone, it is worth undertaking this trip.
There are many MG bridges which are still intact today & can be easily seen from new BG trains running on the opposite mountain across the Barak valley. Dhanuk at 7:20 is one such viaduct.
Thanks for that update. A friend sent me pictures of the sorry looking Dyang bridge with only the piers remaining.
@@ManiVijay I shall upload my version of compilation from this region soon, I'm sure you'll find it interesting !

nice capture man. i love this section of indian railways and i am fortunate enough having travelled this route many times
Thanks a lot! I, too, enjoyed the ride on the Dyang at a slow 10 kmph!
Thanks! I did secretly admire all the folks responsible for construction of this line and still do!
That this line of railroad is beautiful! The bridges are exceptional. Certainly one of the most beautiful railway video I know. You make us want to travel in these passenger cars. Congratulations.
Thanks! You should visit India and travel in trains!
It also matches the color of the bridges!! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Fantastic journey!
with a thought for the people who have built this line.
Old livery that adds to this fantastic video
Thanks for sharing these cherish moments ...sir
You are welcome.
I am very glad to hear that you are enjoying my videos. I will watch your as well. Thanks!

Yes, the line is under conversion. Thanks!!

Excellent!
Thanks! You should try and cover this section this year!
EXCELLENT!! EXCELLENT... the dyang bridge at 3:08 appears to be the best!! i couldn't believe seeing rooftop pax in this route... they must be BLOODY bold to travel that way in this route!!
Thanks! I also enjoyed creating this compilation :-)
These two bridges are the BG rail bridges and are part of the same alignment. There is a huge curve that will connect these two.
is this line under gauge conversion????? what a view amazing.........
spectacular!!!!!!.. simply magnificent...
You definitely should do plenty of trips. When are you planning your India trip?
Really glad you enjoyed it :-)

Spectacular !!

That is the BG one - reconstructed after some accident took.

Wow really nice.
Spectacular dyang viaduct ... Alive in our memories
Thanks! So sad that the MG bridge has been dismantled.

Wow! That's one of the best comments I have received...thanks :-) Though I have to admit that this is one of my favorite compilations as well :-)
at 0:32 i can see three bridges...1 on which ur train is there...the 2nd is below and the third is above at right top corner

just started watching this video
which is the other bridge at starting of the video ? is it a discarded bridge ?

This is in Assam and the train is the Barak Valley Exp. traveling from Lumding to Silchar. Hope you enjoyed the video :-)

It was really very frightening also.
