Stranded Hunters Stuck In The Snow

  • Got a call about a Prius stuck on the mountain in the snow. I grabbed Ol Blue and headed up there to get them. On the way up the mountain I got a second call about some hunters stuck just below the car. So I stopped and tried to get them out. They were in a fairly big setup and Blue wasn't pulling them out. I had to continue on with the original call before it got to dark. So I kept going up the mountain as it kept snowing. I went as far as I could and got to within a mile of them, so they hiked out and we got them down to a hotel. The next morning we went in with Trailmater and the JK. We got the hunters out and tried to get a road knocked in to the Prius. No go, we were denied by a field with fairly deep drifts. We waited a week to see if weather would improve and help out. It did, and it didn't. It had snowed the night before we went back in, and it was snowing as we went in. We knew this time we had to get it out or leave it till spring. It was a heck of a fight but we got it to the top of the mountain and headed back down to good roads. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Rory, your channel exemplifies the reason I rarely if ever watch commercial TV programs any longer. This is reality. Like the other commenters stated, we sit in the comfort watching these recoveries without a clue as to the cold and wetness of being hip deep in snow. Let alone the frustration of getting stuck and rescuing yourself to get back in the game. We all have a job or occupation with it's own inherent dilemmas but my hats off to you guys for staying the course, working together and getting things done! I'm certain it's got to be a pain moving cameras around to get the most entertainment value for us but you do a fantastic job of it!! Here's to settling in for a long winter of adventures with Trail Mater and crew! Please be safe!!

Agree 100%. As screwed up as the world is in 2022 it seems like the ppl I meet who have cut the cable cord still have critical thinking skills rather than letting media tell them how to think & vote. Covid seems to be the last gasp of Hollyweird “celebs” preaching their CCP mindset. IMHO corporate media is funded by the globalist ruling class to divide the working class against itself.

As a winter camper and X Elk hunting guide from Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana, two things I never traveled without. In all seriousness, this is another reminder not to go into the mountains this time of year unless you are prepared for lots of snow and the possibility of getting lost or stranded. When I was a kid, it was snowing so hard elk hunting one year, I walked about 20 yards from our camp. I turned around and I could not see our camp at all. My footprints were filling in with snow so fast that I could hardly tell where I walked from. Another time, we spent 4 hours walking in circles trying to find our way back to the road. We finally realized we were walking in a big circle, made a change, and luckily found our way out.

Recovering the truck and trailer show what a beast Trail Mater is. The Prius recovery shows how determined, committed and knowledgeable you and your team are to help others that are in trouble. Great job!!! Fascinating to watch!!!

The dedication of the trail mater team is great and all the effort over three tries to retrieve the Prius is exemplary. I watched this video twice, it was that enjoyable.

Man I thought for sure you were going to need Matt or Heavy D to come get the Prius with a tracked vehicle but Trail Mater beasted its way out with the chains. Great Job! Glad all is out safe and sound.

I've done snow recoveries in South Dakota, Minnisota, Nebraska, and Iowa...they are a challenge and a technique all their own. Tire chains are a WONDER in the snow and a TERROR when they come loose.
I'm curious how long attempt 3 took and how far was the drag out.
    Well done, Guys, As always!

That Prius was some recovery. The shot from Mike inside the car showed how good the Yankum rope is. Nice clean pull without jarring the car. Vehicle repairs first on the list. No need to apologize for doing the job first & filming second. Anybody that has been watching you for a while knows that the job always comes first. Great video. Thanks for sharing

I am sure there are a lot of recovery people out there that would have quit after getting stuck the first time, and said wait until spring to go get the car. You kept going and got the job done on the 3rd try. Rory and the whole team are awesome. Keep up the great work. On jobs like this, don't worry about the video, just stick a camera on the hood and go. Your guys safety is way more important than any video.
