Bono is arguably one of the great poets of our generation. So often his turn of phrase transcends "song lyrics" to say something really profound. "Play Jesus to the lepers in your head" is another amazing line from this song.
Agree, great lyric. Also "What you don't have you don't need it now, what you don't know you can feel it somehow" from Beautiful Day. So many others.....
U2 fan, Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose, recounted in Bill Flannagan's definitive biography, U2 at the End of the World: I think "One" is one of the greatest songs that have ever been written. I put the song on and just broke down crying. It was such a release. It was really good for me. I was really upset that my ex-wife and I never had a chance because of the damage in our lives. We didn't have a chance and I hadn't fully accepted that. The song helped me see it. I wanted to write Bono a letter just saying "Your record's done a lot for me."
While The Joshua Tree is masterpiece, Achtung Baby transcends all. I would say that Trip through Your Wires and Mothers of the Disappeared on JT are very good but not amazing. There isn’t a wrong note on Achtung Baby.
Adam Clayton is a criminally underappreciated bass player. His bass drives this song... and many other U2 hits. You just don't really notice unless you tune into the bass, then you realize just how strong his bass lines are.
Axel Rose actually broke down crying when hearing this song it's a U2 classic which they always play live just never looses it's emotional Power every time i hear it Played
Bono’s lyrics hit you right between the eyes. He was able to meld artistry with poignant thoughtful messages more than any lyricist I know… & did it for over 10 years.
U2 is a band that must be experienced live. Possibly the greatest live band of all time with the largest following. Their concerts are like a religious experience.
Also they stared out in the 70's as a punk band and reggae had a huge influence on the emergence of punk in the British Isles. It's a natural shout-out.
Brad & Lex: you just started listening to one of the greatest bands ever. I think you've gotten the wrong impression of them. They are far from grocery store music. Please don't stop here. I put a comment of songs. I hope you go down the rabbit hole. There are certain songs you MUST hit. Start with "Pride" their song for Martin Luther King & "Where The Streets Have No Name". Check my other comment. Amazing songs & you're about to fall in love with U2.
For me they are at their best from JT and earlier. I enjoyed their uptempo rock sound at lot more. They are hit and miss anymore but when they hit they are incredible!! U2 at Red Rocks is my favorite show
too much great stuff to mention Jen...This is not my favorite , I like mostly all U2. but favor the first few albums. They have been around since I was a kid and had a hit from every album..Some faves.. "NY", "Beautiful Day". "Vertigo"...ALL October and ALL Joshua Tree...but U2 is far from any sort of "sell out" band, they are international superstars...and Bono is cool as hell. An Edge has style all his own. A very original act.
I agree, Jennifer. Kinda insulting that they would label them "corporate music." They're definitely Pop, but that doesn't make them less than G N' R or Metallica. In fact, U2 has been around for way longer than most of the bands that they listen to. And that's a direct result of their greatness. You have to be great at something to have longevity. You may like them or not, but you can't deny their greatness. I've been a U2 fan since War and have never looked back.
@@raymo6795 How did you know to call me Jen? Well that's just too sweet! ❤ I nearly fell on the floor when they said grocery store & corporate. 🤦🏼♀️ I think Bono & Edge passed out somewhere. 🤣 They need to listen to their political & anthem side. Brad & Lex will catch on!
U2 is a band that has a long history, and while their lineup has remained consistent, their sound has evolved dramatically. If you go back to the earliest days of the band in about 1980, they were very brash and raw. Then in the mid-80s they evolved into a more bluesy and rock sound. And then as they moved into the 1990s they had some songs with a progressive sound and some songs that were very much influenced by EDM and electronica. They are still active (they toured as recently as 2019 before the pandemic). One of the consistencies in the themes of the band's songs, regardless or era or musical style choices, is a strong left-of-center political stance. There are songs that speak to the plight of immigrants, abuses of oppressed peoples, victims of social injustices, and those caught in the crossfire of conflicts based on the decisions of those in power far far away. Often you will hear Christian messages in their music, and that sometimes tends to turn off some audiences who can find some of their songs "preachy." U2 is one of my favorite bands of all time, and I find much of their music soulful and many of their lyrics thought-provoking. I think you two will enjoy exploring the many layers and sounds and styles of U2 as you continue your journey.
U2 has so many great songs, they may now be considered more mainstream, but they were quite edgy and its more that the younger generation hears it as their parents music in my opinion. The Apple thing was just dumb. Anything off of the War, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby albums are going to be great. Rattle and Hum is also an amazing live album that also has a couple great cover songs and has BB King play with them on one of their songs. Lots worth listening to with this band.
I realized for myself everything people have a hard time with concerning them is their strong correlation to our parents. When I took myself out of the perspective they're my parents music, & looked at them more objectively, I saw how everything all the modern cool bands have were truly stolen from them
The song has a very simple and repetitive structure, but it's perfect for providing the negative space required for Bono's voice to really take center stage, so that he can take us on that an emotional journey we can all relate to.
@@znk0r There was a video showing how they put this song together - it was a somewhat long journey to get to this with a TON of different writers. Working on everything from song structure to guitar tone. It was quite eye opening - U2 operates more like a corporate entity than a bunch of guys jamming in a studio.
This song is an incredibly subtle grower, and there is no way it can be appreciated and judged on with a first listen, like all great tracks its only grows and evolves the more one listens to it
I'm an old school U2 fan, so I'd suggest listening to songs showing their musical progression. 1) I Will Follow, 2) Gloria, 3) New Year's Day, 4) Pride (In the Name of Love), 5) The Unforgettable Fire (their best song ever!), 6) Bad, 7) With Or Without You, 8) Where the Streets Have No Name, 9) The Fly, 10) Lemon
There's so much more to U2... How many other successful bands can you say have stayed together 40 years with all original members? Try "The Fly" from their Auctung Baby album.. They are a truly amazing band. Thank you for giving them a listen and reaction!
Rabbit 🕳 Hole! Every song they have is AMAZING! One of my favorite bands ever! Here's a few of their Biggest Hits: "Where The Streets Have No Name" "Pride" (Their song to Honor Martin Luther King) "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (my favorite) "Beautiful Day" "All I Want Is You" "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" "Sunday Bloody Sunday" "Bad" "With Or Without You" "New Years Day" "Mysterious Ways"
The older U2 material is a bit more edgy, like Sunday Bloody Sunday or New Year’s Day. Definitely worth checking out. I know Candlebox didn’t win yesterday, but they’re worth checking out as well. Particularly the songs Far Behind and You.
I feel Boy was U2's best LP they were so unique in their sound back then. :) btw... I feel Candlebox was one of the best bands from the 90's, that whole first album is great. First five songs... Don't you, Change, You, No Sense, Far Behind ...
Oh snap!! I forgot about U2, they have so many goodies. Where the Streets Have no Name, With or Without You, Pride, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Sunday Bloody Sunday, All I Want is You, and Beautiful Day are all fantastic!
Bono had an amazing voice when he was younger. Early U2 had some really good stuff. I love the video for Bad from the Rattle & Hum tour, it really shows them at their best. U2 became more corporate with time, it's not One or their early stuff that people say its corporate.
@Marco Lopez it's useless UNLESS IT'S THE ORIGINAL VIDEOS! Can you imagine them LISTENING TO What's The Streets Have No Name...NO VIDEO AT ALL? JUST WITH their ridiculous lyric version thrown up on the screen? Seriously bro? HOW disrespectful is that s*** that is band? You AND I AND everybody else here knows you might as well just not even cover their material if you're NOT gonna do it right. It's the same as if you're saying let's all listen to Van Halen...the David Lee Roth years... Pick any song any year... LIVE performance... But anytime that he's not singing and moving about the stage we're not going to allow them to watch that part okay? Yeah...it's the SAME trade off.
Well, I think there's a difference between "becoming corporate" and just maturing as an artist/businessperson in the cesspool that is the music biz. Also they have had the same original members and for 40+, they're all with their first wives except for one, and that was a high school crush thing, and they've raised hundreds of millions for humanitarian charities as a band and individually. IDK, maybe that's irrelevant to your comment, I just think four guys with a lot of character and that ethical in their personal lives aren't going sell out. Usually with artists/bands, I either like the older stuff more or new mature stuff more, U2 is one of the few groups I like both old and new.
The funny thing is that this song is about estrangement - in a relationship between a man and a wife, as well as a son and a father. I think that the chord structure (which is very similar to "Stand By Me" - ironically) is what leaves people thinking happy thoughts even though the song is definitely not happy lol. I'd suggest "Please" or "Running to Stand Still" as 2 other U2 songs to definitely check out.
U2 is one of the greats. They definitely have a unique sound. While not a religious band, they do put religion in their songs at times. “”Until the End of The World” is about Judas. “40” is psalm 40. They also have a lot of songs about world issues like “where the streets have no name.” “Pride, in the name of love” is about MLK. And so many other great songs.....
Led Zeppelin and U2 are my favorite bands. U2 formed in 1976. It's all about the lyrics with U2. Well not all, but the lyrics are fabulous. Most of their music is not Target music. One was actually written during a stressful time for the band. They were recording in Berlin trying to come up with a new album and Edge was going through a breakup with his first wife. The lyrics reflect that stress and complexity. Most people are going to recommend the standard U2 songs. I say go for these songs...I Will Follow. Drowning Man, Bad, The Three Sunrises, When Love comes to Town(feat. B.B. King), Bullet the Blue Sky, Exit (Really just the entire Joshua Tree album), Mysterious Ways or just the entire Achtung Baby album(It's a total departure from there earlier music), Stay(Far away so close), Mofo, Gone, In a Little While, ***Miracle Drug***, Song for Someone, Landlady. Those songs are all in chronological order off their albums. Enjoy.
I love U2 and I love this song! They were one of the top bands of the eighties and nineties! This song is far from basic…it’s beautiful! Bono is the lead singer and his voice is stellar and the lyrics are next level! All their songs are well written, such as, Where The Streets Have No Name, With or Without You, In the Name of Love, etc! This is “thinking man’s rock”! They are amazing!!❤️❤️
“You asked me to enter, then you make me crawl, and I can’t keep holding on to what you got when all you got is hurt…” one of the GREATEST breakup lines ever written!
The U2 sound was quite novel in its day. But you really have to see them live to appreciate the ethereal nature of Edge’s sustained & echoed guitar riffing & the presence that this band brought. It was both raw & polished at the same time.
Ok, you've listened to Metallica's "One" and now U2's "One" ... now go find the video of Chris Cornell doing both at the same time (he does the lyrics of Metallica's "One" to the tune of U2's and it's effing brilliant.)
Brad & Lex - U2 proceed Queen in the famous Live Aid Concert. They were supposed to sing "Sunday Bloody Sunday" "Bad" & "Pride". Bono saw a woman being crushed during "Bad". His face said it all. He spontaneously jumps off stage & pulls her to safety holding her, dancing & singing to her. He pulls others. The band being the ABSOLUTE PROFESSIONALS they are dropped "Pride" but never missed a beat. They managed to play a stunning 14-minute rendition of "Bad" while Bono displays the ultimate human connection. Love. THAT'S U2! "I'm wide awake! I'm wide awake! I'm not sleeping!" - Bad ruclips.net/video/HvBgRSSlVBA/видео.html
Reading the lyrics along with the first listen is one of the absolute keys to understanding our music from back then. Thank you for doing that, it goes a long way in showing us you really do like and want to get to know it better. It was a real thing back in the 70's to read the contents of the liner notes and the lyrics off the album cover as you listened to the music you had only heard before on the radio or one of the several music shows on television. Really enjoying your reactions, love your take on all of it ~ thank you so much!! ☮💕🎸🎶
I know the lyric videos help in not getting blocked by RUclips, but watching Bono sing this song straight to the camera in the video is magical. Also Bono is a poet. His lyrics are amazing.
Thats a heavy song man, atleast the lyrics are. Bono is such an amazing singer and songwriter. His vocal range and delivery are on another level. I recommend you guys delving deeper into U2's catalog of music. You won't be disappointed. Love the content as always. Thank you for doing what you do!
As an Irish person, I grew up listening to U2 as my Dad was a huge fan, and this is way down the list of great U2 songs! Some suggestions for you that would be awesome for you guys to try out: Where The Streets Have No Name Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For With or Without You Desire Pride (In the Name of Love) Sunday Bloody Sunday
I thoroughly enjoyed your breakdown of “Zombie” by the Cranberries and in keeping with that same vein, “Sunday, Bloody Sunday” might be a U2 song you might want to check out. Both tunes are referring to “The Troubles” (or as Brad likes to say “The Conflict”) throughout Ireland, particularly Northern Ireland, during the 60’s through to the 90’s. One of my favorite versions is “Live at Slaine Castle” recorded in 2001. “Give it a go” as they would say in Ireland.
You’ve only discovered one end of their musical spectrum. U2 is one of the greatest bands of all time. Go through their catalog and you’ll fall in love with them.
U2 is one of the most amazing bands of all time. When I put my U2 playlist together, I told myself to only pick the best songs so it wouldn't be overloaded. So, I just picked the songs I thought were fabulous or better. I've got 49 songs in that playlist. If you wrote down every U2 song on its own Sticky Note and wallpapered your room with them, you could put on a blindfold, spin around and throw a dart, and you'd end up pulling your dart out of a great song. Throw a dart and see.
I often feel old when I watch your videos since most of the songs you react to for the first time are songs I grew up on. But I do appreciate your reactions. You guys are so open to all kinds of genre and timeline.
Love you guys, nice dynamic to your reviews. So much music to rediscover! U2s lyrics are always deep. The album Actchung Baby is my fave. Huge variety of sounds and tempos but still all their trademark sound. Some beautiful, some more raw. If you like drums the song “Acrobat” absolutely kills it. ..
Interesting comment when you said people would leave a store like Target after hearing this feeling better..... I dragged a few non U2 fans, you could even say U2 haters to a concert back in 2005. We left the show and they were all blown away with a new found respect for them and one friend actually said "I've never left a concert feeling like i could change the world before. I just felt so much love at that show"..... I will always remember him saying that especially since he was the one who disliked them the most prior to the concert.
U2, greatest band EVER, They have so many great hits imposible to tell , but my favorite is Pride, a song that is part about Martin Luther King, New Years day, with or without you
I got your notification & popped on real quick.. 12 seconds in I realized holy crap...it's NOT the OFFICIAL VIDEO. I was posting to you about how you should really get into this band. That's when I click back all I see his lyrics on the screen I'm like what the f***? Oh no my babies.. you need to rectify this before a whole generation goes crazy and the entire U2 loving Universe has their heads explode seeing THIS
Lex your interpretation was spot on for someone new to the band, as far as many of their songs feeling chill, yet there is so much going on instrumentally and in the lyrics. Clayton, Mullen Jr. and The Edge, (Bass, Drums, Guitar respectfully) are well known for the unique and unorthodox way they each play their instrument, and are highly respected individually by other musicians that play that instrument. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin guitarist) said The Edge was a true "sonic architect" for the ages. Great reaction! You don't have to make a reaction out of this, unless you want to, but you oughtta check the version of this song they did with Mary J. Blige, it's phenomenal!! ruclips.net/video/ZpDQJnI4OhU/видео.html
They have Many good songs. They one of the top selling bands in the world. Some good choices "Where the Streets Have no Name", "Elevation", "With our Without You", "Beautiful Day".
Okay, now that you guys have reacted to One by Metallica and One by U2, you need to hear One by Chris Cornell. He puts the lyrics from Metallica's One to the music of U2's One. It's pretty amazing, and I know you love Chris Cornell's voice!
I love you both! Your reactions have been so fun. U2 is INCREDIBLE. Huge catalogue. This song is way more recent. I think it’s from 2000 or so. They go back to the very early 80’s. I cannot WAIT for you to see them live. So many epic songs. All four members have been together since Junior High in Ireland.
You just stumbled upon one-off the best and biggest bands of all time. Bono and the Edge are one of the greatest songwriter duos ever. You should check out Pride (about MLK), Bullet the Blue Sky, New Years Day, Ultra Violet or Where the streets have no name. Their catalog is absolutely massive.
One is an instant classic. Upon its release it was (and still is) hailed in high regard, and placed among rock's classics. I personally put it up there with John Lennon's Imagine and Mavin Gaye's What's Goin On. I think I agree with Lex, when she says it is "underplayed". However I would say it is rather, understated, instead. While there may be some slight influence it terms of word choice around "One" to Bob Marley, along with a great rhythm, I don't think there is much else connection there. This is classic U2 in the sense that it starts slower, or more understated, but it gradually builds and crescendos to an epic climax. Also, in both the music and the lyric, and vocal delivery it slowly transforms from an individual relationship, with bitterness and disillusion, to gradually an understanding that is more universal and deeper in its understanding of relationships, and how we relate to one another. A key distinction - He says "We GET to carry each other" NOT "GOT TO". When people use "got to" is is used in a manner where it is a task, or chore, or responsibility. When people use "GET TO" to is used in a positive way, denoting that it is wanted, a privilege, and something to look forward to. ONE is NOT a corporate song. Anyone who is paying even a little attention can hear and read the cutting disenchanted lines, with the melancholy beginning. Beautiful Day and City of Blinding Lights may be closer to Corporate music. Coldplay may fit, though they have some great material. However, musically and lyrically they are closer to being safe and happy. Even "Beautiful Day", is grounded in reality. Its uplift is earned after seeing beauty in even things/situations that are rough. Each verse starts with a somewhat dire situation, before going into the uplift of the chorus.
"new year's day" is my favorite U2 song. one of their earlier tunes, which of course always means it's better, haha. up-beat, but at the same time a bittersweet song about longing, yearning. and a great example of their early sound using lots of reverb and delay on the instruments that gives it a mysterious atmospheric sound.
The more I listen, the more I want to hear it. U2 is an extra level of understanding, which thanks to my great taste, modesty aside, I've been listening to for 30 years, since I was 10.
If you are looking for something to watch, “It might get loud”. The Edge, Jimmy Paige, and Jack White sit around and play each other’s songs. It’s pretty fun.
@@chrisrichardson5641 Yesssss!! "Seven Nations Army" is definitely one of the most recognizable famous riffs ever. Brad & Lex must get around watching it first. Jack White is so relaxed with Jimmy Page & The Edge it's astounding. I don't know about you Chris but I'd be speechless to even be in their company. Would bowing be too much? 🤣🎸 We should recommend this to Jamel. He would love it! ❤
I could tell she was into the tune musically when she sat back and was just in the groove. Another slower tune that is busy is So Cruel. The drums on that song are great.
You REALLY need to listen to the whole Joshua tree album... Just trust me on this one. This really is one of their most beautiful songs, both in lyrics add in video portrayal. #NYGenXBikerLady
You should definitely listen to and watch the video for all I want is you. Other great ones are Where the streets have no name(another video worth watching, and who’s gonna ride your wild horses.or really anything from the albums Rattle and Hum or Achtung Baby
@VICKIE JENKINS HOLY CROW! Now that rendition of this song actually one of the best versions I've ever seen. BUT TBH, once I heard she was going to be on this doing a duet with him? I practically wet the rug like a puppy! 😂 I'm a long time fan of her music because her voice is like gold and I've been a fan of his since she first hit the scene. I just feel that she's a beautiful performer and when you listen to her interview she's a wonderful woman inside and out and it just shines through when she speaks to the person who's interviewing her.
Brad was right - One Love in the lyrics was a reference to a Bob Marley song - Bono and the band are big Marley fans and often do Wailer songs at their concerts.
Have to check out their concert from Red Rocks. Start with Sunday Bloody Sunday. Also try With or Without You from Boston 2001. I was there. Epic. ☘️✌️and let’s not forget Bad from Live Aid !
Think you meant understated on the groove of the tune. You come at songs from very different angles. Brad is more from an intellectual perspective, thinking about the tracks. Lex feels the songs on an emotional level, letting groove and feel lead the way.
U2 has some real classics, mainstream or not. They had worldwide mass appeal. "She Moves in Mysterious Ways" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" are my favorites.
Check out Super Bowl Performance 2002. It’s was after sept 11, 2001 and was very poignant. Starts out with beautiful day and ends with streets with no name while scrolling the names of all those killed on 9/11.
I’m a huge U2 fan. This is a great dysfunctional love song but probably the greatest message to the world. Something as simple as we “get” to carry each other. 1 life 1 chance 1 opportunity to carry each other and do right. We are not the same. But we all get 1 chance to do what we should.
U2 blew up into a massive band around the world but for some reason seemed to fade away from prominence around 2010 to a point where in 2014 they were resorting to doing deals with apple to have their album preloaded onto their devices.
Funny how far U2 was ahead the times. Apple gave them a boatload of cash and then gave the album to itunes users for free. Millennials broke down and said they were emotionally damaged by it. LOL. Now everyone willingly hands their entire music library over to Apple and they can stream whatever music they want pretty much for free. They have been consistently the biggest band in the world for about 35 years. of course popularity slides over time. But they can still go and sell out a stadium or 3 in any country in the world. They had the highest grossing tour of all time in 2009-10. Still making good music. their last 2 albums were there best since the late 90’s.
I think it had to do with Bono's politics. I love U2 as a band, my teen years, I was very influenced by them. Even I wished Bono would just shut up and go away for a few years. He became so preachy and annoying, kind of the same way people get annoyed by Oprah.
What you cannot see since this band is from a different era is that they are anything but corporate. U2 fan, Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose, recounted in Bill
Flannagan's definitive biography, U2 at the End of the World:
I think "One" is one of the greatest songs that have ever been written. I put the song on and just broke down crying. It was such a release.

Visit old U2...Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day, Gloria, Party Girl...
When I took myself out of the perspective they're my parents music, & looked at them more objectively, I saw how everything all the modern cool bands have were truly stolen from them
I believe that 'All that you can't leave behind' and 'How to dismantle an atomic bomb' are also quite good.
@@Vanedis yes I loved those albums also, many good songs
What "Apple thing was just dumb"? When they gave a free song to the public?
Everything becomes muzak eventually.
The song has a very simple and repetitive structure, but it's perfect for providing the negative space required for Bono's voice to really take center stage, so that he can take us on that an emotional journey we can all relate to.
There is a subtle cressendo during the whole song, I don't know how they did that so well.
Exactly
The bass on this song is actually really complicated
@@znk0r There was a video showing how they put this song together - it was a somewhat long journey to get to this with a TON of different writers. Working on everything from song structure to guitar tone. It was quite eye opening - U2 operates more like a corporate entity than a bunch of guys jamming in a studio.
Off of their best album in my opinion (Achtung Baby), try "The Fly" or "Mysterious Ways" from that album
This song is an incredibly subtle grower, and there is no way it can be appreciated and judged on with a first listen, like all great tracks its only grows and evolves the more one listens to it
Check out Bloody Sunday Bloody is a classic about the conflict in Northern Ireland 🔥👌
Check out "Where the Street have No name", Stay(Faraway, so close) ", with or without you"
Rabbit 🕳 Hole! Every song they have is AMAZING! One of my favorite bands ever! Here's a few of their Biggest Hits:
"Where The Streets Have No Name"
"Pride" (Their song to Honor Martin Luther King)
"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (my favorite)
"Beautiful Day"
"All I Want Is You"
"Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses"
"Sunday Bloody Sunday"
"Bad"
"With Or Without You"
"New Years Day"
"Mysterious Ways"
The older U2 material is a bit more edgy, like Sunday Bloody Sunday or New Year’s Day. Definitely worth checking out.
I know Candlebox didn’t win yesterday, but they’re worth checking out as well. Particularly the songs Far Behind and You.
Their older material is definitely best IMO and sounds best at their Red Rocks concert
I feel Boy was U2's best LP they were so unique in their sound back then. :) btw... I feel Candlebox was one of the best bands from the 90's, that whole first album is great. First five songs... Don't you, Change, You, No Sense, Far Behind ...
new years day gets my vote as per my other comment.
U2 New Years Day live from Red Rocks is amazing!
@@TheBruceGday Yes it was.
Oh snap!! I forgot about U2, they have so many goodies. Where the Streets Have no Name, With or Without You, Pride, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Sunday Bloody Sunday, All I Want is You, and Beautiful Day are all fantastic!
It's a classic
One of the most iconic bands of the 80s, 90s and today they have a ton of hit song's you are just scratching the surface
U2 has so many amazing songs. They are icons. You should try Beautiful Day.
Enjoy.
This is one of U2’s most powerful & tender & beautiful track. I have ever enjoyed hearing.
Bono’s vocals hypnotic. Much love❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes!
Ya !!!!
Agreed. Chris Cornell brings the two "One's" as the One
Guys the depth of the U2 influence is enormous. To get through their their category will take a while. I wish you luck.
I'm not sleeping!"
- Bad

Auchtung Baby, such a beautiful album, my favorite by them.

Some suggestions for you that would be awesome for you guys to try out:
Where The Streets Have No Name
Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With or Without You
Desire
Pride (In the Name of Love)
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bono (lead singer says) "When Johnny Cash covers your song it's no longer your song" He covered this song
The live version of Silver & Gold off the Rattle and Hum album is banging, excellent lyrical delivery too.
Achtung Baby what a great album by U2 so many classics on it. Hope you give the album a listen
30 years old next month and it still sounds
like the future.
@@Dreyno And then Zooropa even more so.
U2 had so many memorable songs! They went straight to legend in the 90's!
Oh no my babies.. you need to rectify this before a whole generation goes crazy and the entire U2 loving Universe has their heads explode seeing THIS
excellent choice on the U2! More U2:
Stay(Far Away, So Close!)
In A Little While
New Year's Day
“U2’s got bars.” That is correct.
One of the best relationship breakdown songs ever written, the lyrics are everything in this song.
Guys please, I'd love another U2 reaction..
One of the best songs ever written. Always makes me cry. Even Lex lost her smile.
Love from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪, I saw U2 live in 88, they done a tour with blues' legend BB King, awesome!

Hahaha this song is from 1991
@@Hallucination, oops! You are correct, of course. I got mixed up. I like them going back to 1982. Thanks for the correction.
Does this guy like anything, he always seems perplexed.
He would answer, but he's probably too perplexed to : P
This brings back such memories of being on holiday in Ibiza and listening to the Achtung Baby album over and over. This song is beautiful.
Early U2 !!!!
Gloria . Great tune.
The man's voice still chills me from head to toe. 40 years later.
It's just brilliant!!
We may have to wait for Brad and Lex to watch The White Stripes first
@@chrisrichardson5641 Yesssss!!
Agree!!! And I feel the same way about Achtung Baby.
Some day they might say o shit .
I saw them in concert in 2010 and it was the best concert I've ever been to in my life. Their "360" tour was incredible.
You should definitely listen to and watch the video for all I want is you. Other great ones are Where the streets have no name(another video worth watching, and who’s gonna ride your wild horses.or really anything from the albums Rattle and Hum or Achtung Baby
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses is one of my favorites.
"One" is just an iconic song from an Album worthy of a full Album review!!!
100% agree. You've not lived until you heard it 💯
Love how The Edge can make his guitar sound like a combination of bells and bagpipes.
Now you gotta listen to Johnny Cash's cover of this song. Haunting and nearly as powerful as Hurt.
Need to check out One version they did with Mary J Blige. It's awesome!
@@christinegelabert1651 I totally agree!
That’s the only version I listen to now. It gives me goosebumps.
@@Julieroo28 Why? It's dreadful. It's like tuition on how to murder a great song.
Meh. Her fake emotion ads nothing to the song and in fact takes away from it.
The song in both its lyrical presentation and musicianship is both extremely intense and chill / calming at the same time.
Late to the party myself...but glad you found U2. Another group with a huge repertoire of great music and great vibes.
Gotta listen to their old stuff.. 11 o clock tick tock, Gloria, Sunday Bloody Sunday, etc
And my all time fav "Drowning Man"
Brad was right - One Love in the lyrics was a reference to a Bob Marley song - Bono and the band are big Marley fans and often do Wailer songs at their concerts.
You guys are killing it 🤙🏻
I love Auchtung Baby and this is my favorite song on the album, i find that their lyrics are deep and some people don't get them.
Have to check out their concert from Red Rocks. Start with Sunday Bloody Sunday. Also try With or Without You from Boston 2001. I was there. Epic. ☘️✌️and let’s not forget Bad from Live Aid !
B.B. King in Rattle & Hum movie said to Bono how can such a young man like him write so deep.
I remember watching the buffalo video of this song and being entranced by their running to the music. It was somewhat hypnotic.
Love your channel. Happy Holidays.
One of those rare songs that from the first time you hear it tends to stop you in your tracks and you know is going to be a classic
Think you meant understated on the groove of the tune. You come at songs from very different angles. Brad is more from an intellectual perspective, thinking about the tracks. Lex feels the songs on an emotional level, letting groove and feel lead the way.
@Brad & Lex U need to check out U2- Until the end of the World. Live Zoo TV. Its about a conversation from Judas (POV) to Jesus🔥✝️
The time transcending message of this song is 🔥.
U2 blew up into a massive band around the world but for some reason seemed to fade away from prominence around 2010 to a point where in 2014 they were resorting to doing deals with apple to have their album preloaded onto their devices.
Yeah… that was a bad move
Every band fades eventually. They have 40 years of history and a ton of accolades to their credit.
