I am so glad you know that he is singing in Norse, props to you brother, and Payton is a BEAST ..., an amazing beast singing My Mother Told Me in Norse. I have know knowledge of Norse, but I know EVERY lyric he is singing, because I love the original, but Payton nails it!
By Odins tears @4:19 shocked the hell out of me and i've listened to the most insane metal out there including 2003 considerations - demolisher... Whew man. This got me pumped Dave.
There are very few of us that read the language because it's all in runes . If you can speak icelandic you can speak old Norse but reading it is still hard. Those of us that speak/understand nynorsk can understand like 80% of what he is saying. But everything he says and how he says is is completely described in the language. So as long as you can read the subtitles you can sing
My mom is really into genealogy and has traced my father's side of the family all the way back to 700ad Sweden so listening to this guy does awaken something in me

Old norse is considered a dead language like latin because no one uses in everyday use, yes there are people that speak a modernized version of norse but not like the Vikings
The hardest part about mastering Old Norse is its pronunciation unless you speak modern Icelanic. Speaking it is difficult enough. You won't catch me trying to growl or fry scream it.
I find it easier to "grunt" it myself, easier than speaking it normally I've noticed. Probably because it's more of a mental placement as that's when I "feel it" within me the most. But yeah the only reason the pronunciation is so hard for many people to get accustomed to is _usually_ stemming from modernized English speakers -- the mouth just isn't used to making those shapes or rolling letters.
there are severa "old norse" languages which would be called different kinds of germanic depending on area and time edit: as area and time change tha language does as well into different languages
"Old Norse" typically refers to elder futhark time period, there's not really "several" languages especially not several surviving. Icelandic is the closest modern language to Old Norse, however.
I could be wrong, but I think if you were wanting to learn Old Norse, you could, much like you could still learn traditional Latin, but if you want to learn the living language that is considered to be closest, you would want to study Icelandic.
If you hate Black Flag, why not react to Miracle of Sounds AC IV/Black Flag song? Many people say it's music like his that they like even though they dislike the game.
If you where a old english settlement and this sound started comming from ships heading to your town... I do not care if your a pesant or a knight of camolot.. Yoir getting out of dodge asap!
Icelandic is the closest language to Old Norse, yeah. It's not a one-for-one but given the phonetics of the words Icelanders would have the easiest time with it. Or Jackson Crawford.
Its almost old norse, the word is (some) right, but its that irritating american'isk dialekt, just practice needed. he nailed some of the R,(front of tongue) instead if american's R (back of tongue) love from north Norway
Appreciate you man! Skal! 💪🏻😎

Richard, Guitarist for Peyton Parrish
"He's just pushing us 12 feet deep co'z 6 wasn't enough" - best phrase I heard all day. 😁
against fire, obviusly cold, against heat cold.
Peyton might be an actual viking at this point
If Peyton decided to recite the old english Beowulf, we'd all turn into Monster Hunters.
Peyton is singing in old Norse. Colm McGuiness learned it too for a song he did. Love the rock vibe to this version.

Jackson Crawford is literally the authority on Old Norse/Futhark at this point.
Wow, strong Viking vibes!! Another great cover of this song!! 🔥🤘🔥
POV: your at the final boss fight and the song is in Norse and it’s fits well

My mom is really into genealogy and has traced my father's side of the family all the way back to 700ad Sweden so listening to this guy does awaken something in me

His heritage is Iceland 🇮🇸 which is Nordic and they speak Norse. He was raised in California though.
The speak Icelandic, not "Norse". Old Norse and Icelandic, while similar, are not the exact same.
Old norse is considered a dead language like latin because no one uses in everyday use, yes there are people that speak a modernized version of norse but not like the Vikings
Yeah, that's called Icelandic. Jackson Crawford will be the best representation of Old Norse you're likely to find.
@Oduinn but the original Norwegian language used in the 8th and 9th century hasn't be used since the Christians have taken over Norway

Slipknot - yen, dropped 2 days ago
He's not rolling his tongue where it needs to be. Technically this is not correct but it sounds badass.
So different from VoicePlay's version but very cool
I love both :)

It was AC Valhalla, and Odin is indeed in the game
Majority of Vikings were from Denmark. Icelandic is close to the Norse.
I love the Norse version
Dave what's up man? Awesome job ! Did u ever make one where he covered zombi?

Peyton pushed us 40 feet cause 6 definitely wasn't enough
It's old norse
það er æðislegt að hann er að vekja athygli á menningu minni
Please do VoicePlay version. Thank you 😊
Already done.

Payton is singing in old Norse which is a dying language unfortunately
Old norse is largely dead as a language. The closest people that can read and speak it would be Icelanders *To my understanding*
Icelandic is the closest language to Old Norse, yeah. It's not a one-for-one but given the phonetics of the words Icelanders would have the easiest time with it. Or Jackson Crawford.
Przesadzili
U can learn any language my g you just need to dedicate the time

I imagine Icelanders would say you have an "Irritating" Norwegian "dialekt" yourself, since Norwegian isn't the closest to proper Old Norse.
daaaang, your voice is thick as gravy 👍
Old norse
