I love how Mojang implemented banners. It's not a straight up an Ms Paint canvas that you can draw anything in, yet you can still make some pretty cool stuff, and even then, the limitations make creations even more impressive.
I recently got back into Minecraft and you’ve been my go to channel every time. You’re always straight to the point, no super loud music where it’s hard to hear 😂 and you explain things so well! Even if something might be obvious you still make sure to point it out. Subscribed!
Banners are underrated. From the fact you could make infinite patterns to decorate a base or to put on a shield, to hiding secret buttons and marking places on a map to navigate easier. I actually made my own banner based on my skin colours. Is really cool to try to find a pattern that you like!
I love using banners so much, but have never had any good patterns that werent from google! Now I have the inspiration and motivation to make some! *New Subscriber Unlocked*
In the combat test snapshot 8c shields with banners were much stronger than regular shields, they had 10 absorption instead of 5 and increased knockback resistance!!!
@@bugrilyus Jeb made a reddit post a while ago, that's the only place you can get the update. Just search "Jeb combat snapshots". Also regarding the original comment, the banner on shield buff was meant to be a placeholder feature, perhaps they're planning to add shield enchants.
i love how creative the banners you make are! and thank you for making it so detailed, even naming the banner patterns as you go. i never thought of putting banners because it intimidated me but now i think im more interested in doing it more than ever.
It would be great if you made a map and cartography block guide. Most interested in making multimap wall/table maps, as you described in one of your recent videos.
This is my favorite video of yours by far! Very useful information and it came at just the right time for me as I was looking to make some banners myself
I think you could’ve mentioned larger banner pictures that are built of multiple banners that result in one picture And with that you could’ve talked about the overlapping of banners and how to use that to your advantage Good video anyways your videos are always great at introducing people to things in minecraft they never tried on their own Next vid could be about maps in general and map artworks with schematics and mapartcraft or any other mapart website/tool
Banners are so underrated as decor in this game. They're surprisingly versatile and bring so much customization, most of my builds use banners in them to some degree. One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video is using websites to design banners before making them in game. It makes coming up with and testing out designs so much easier and faster than doing it in game. I always make my banner designs in there before doing them in game. There's plenty of banner making tools out there, if you just search anything along the lines of "minecraft banner maker". I'm personally a fan of Planet Minecraft's banner tool, it has the best interface in my opinion, although it does let you go over the 6 layer limit so be wary of that.
Thank you for sharing! Wish I had found this a couple years ago. I am a really big fan of banners. Knew nothing about using the cauldron with them and know even less about using them on shields, until now. Now, I am off to look for that super pretty mirror banner in your videos.
Banners are definitely one of my favorite features, also if you haven't found the mirror banner yet, I did make a tutorial a long time ago on it here: ruclips.net/video/50IJ0u1Ovp0/видео.html but be warned its a very old video so a bit cringey lol
Honestly a banner alone isn't expensive. It's made completely from renewable resources. Dying the banner is more expensive because while most dyes are a renewable resource, several are much harder to source and craft.
On Bedrock you can still make a mark on the map by putting a copy of the locator map you’re using in an item frame and putting it on the wall somewhere, you just can’t name it.
There needs to be a catch up update An update that adds promised features and some missing features from past updates Some things added could be Expanded banners and banner parity with bedrock Fletcher table functions Make a villager profession from the beehive, the crafting table, and the furnace. Beehive villager could sell honey and buy or sell bone meal for emeralds Crafting table villager could sell wood planks and the random unattainable in flat items like observers or lava buckets Furnace villager could sell coal and coal blocks and dried sponges Idk seemed missing functions but idk maybe it would make an interesting mod for the game
It would ruin so many aspects of the game xD. Piss off every player using villagers, if the most common object in a base become a work station. Also, what is the point of bee hives if you can buy honey ?
One way that banners should be improved is if there are more choices for size and orientation instead of being stuck with the standard vertical 1×2 as the only option.
You can even go to creative mode too! 😊 Edit: I know a banner recipe. First you need a white banner, then a black creeper charge, then a pink fess (a straight line going through the middle of the banner horizontally), then a white skull charge, and lastly a white per fess inverted (covers the bottom half of banner) and then you got a plush face! Edit 2: Thank you for one like!
You know, I know almost all of the things you make a video about, but your voice is so calming, I can sleep to it. Best of luck for 200k, hope we can get there before 2023.
I made one that kindof looks like a pane of glass with a brass trim, then put it on a fully-enchanted shield called Mirrorbreak and my friends on the server loved it. One guy made a custom shield that looked like it was made out of tree bark and named it Oakenshield. It was really fun, Banners are awesome
A raid farm is more efficient than a wool farm. You get a lot of pillager banners from the raid farm and you can just clear these banners by right-clicking a cauldron.
Thank you for the great video. I've been wondering about banners for awhile, but couldn't find a good video about the actual mechanics of the build. Well I found it finally. Thank you again, and I love your videos.
I had to start a new world because I replaced my comp for some college course and didnt cloud save, so as a result i am now building a beachhouse with bamboo and jungle wood!!! I decided to do banners to help me feel like this playthrough is starting different, so imma make a banner lab in my starter base
Was just watching a new Hermitcraft X episode, and PearlescentMoon gave your banner vid a shout-out (Episode 11, 32:43)! Had to use this vid recently too for my survival world, had no idea how to create shapes/use negative space.
😃 Thanks for the Great useful facts! I didn't know a Lot of the banner/pattern/loom related stuff in this li'l gem of a video. I also enjoyed seeing the fantastic variety of creative banners you've made; color me inspired! 😊 My favorite tips: 1.) Cauldrons can basically act as a "CTRL-Z" & undo the last loom action. 2.) Craft tables can "copy" designs so no more wasting dye.
this actually helps a lot to help me figure out hoe to make my own banners. i'm glad i found this. though i do with the dye limit was a little bit more then 6 but i can understand that more could be complicated on many levels.
When you want to experiment and make some uniqe design use just white and black dye. This will help you to focus more on a shape and value. If you try to come up with something new thinking about colours instead of design can end up very messy.

I love banners! I h ave a series I use to mark my maps with so I know where say various mines, bases, villages are easily - really like the idea of making them more involved so, while they won't show on a map that way, I'll know what territory i'm in too
I love banners, but I absolutely hate the six-layer limitation! I mean, you certainly can add more than six layers using commands, and if this is possible in general, then why isn't it the case by default? Maybe make not really infinite layers, but at least increase it up to twenty or so, so that we could have more creative space! As for my banners, I came up with two very simple ones (they are literally two layers), but with several variations. It's either a skull or a flower (both black) on red background and with gradient or base gradient (both black as well, and they should be put after the skull or the flower). The skull represents what you would expect, and the flower represents either black sun or black flame. Regular gradient represents darkness befalling on your enemies, and base gradient - their scorched bones and corpses.
Banner is such a underrated item, it's one of the most complex itens in the game!
I definitely agree, there are so many uses to it decoration wise also
I love how Mojang implemented banners. It's not a straight up an Ms Paint canvas that you can draw anything in, yet you can still make some pretty cool stuff, and even then, the limitations make creations even more impressive.

Agreed! I learned a lot from this video
but that's exactly why it's underrated, it is too complex for the average player to make unique looking banners
You can fuse a banner and a shield in bedrock now too. That's how I made a British shield and took over the realm and made the people pay taxes.
whaaaat, I didnt know it has been in bedrock all this time 😮
I thought it was impossible to do that-

I really hope the banner shield will come over to the bedrock edition.
same here
Absolutely, it is strange how there are a few features that haven't been ported from bedrock to java and from java to bedrock
Eyecraftmc Another feature that I want ported from Java to bedrock is the Kamen Rider Craft mod turned into a resource pack.
Dont worry bedrock is turning to java edition. Theres has been many java paritys in bedrock.
