    🤔 Can u create a Lazarus Kit with only One Parent's DNA ? 👉🏼ruclips.net/video/OAVo26P98gU/видео.html

    The target person is the DNA path between groups 1 and 2. The more people's kits on both sides of target person the better. // My easy way to make the actual Lazarus text file for upload is I put the header info ("Group 0, Group 1, Group 2") and the kit numbers in column one of an Excel sheet. Then I put descriptive info such as the person's ancestors in column 2 to the right of the kit number. Then I just highlight and copy column 1 and paste that text into notepad and you have the Lazarus kit file right there. Save that simple text file and that's the file you upload to Gedmatch. Done. You can start Group 2 with the kits of KNOWN cousins and then later add speculative cousins such as from shared matches. I will make a Lazarus using only known cousins and another Lazarus using all the kits in the list.

      As I showed in the best Lazarus kit video, you really only need Group 1 and repeat those in Group 2. IF you have children, there is no need to go to any cousins.
      Be sure to watch this video ruclips.net/video/VEmq-nF4rPQ/видео.html which explains a few things to know about Lazarus kits

      @@FamilyHistoryFanatics Wow, so you actually only really need a couple of children to be able to create a good Lazarus kit?? 😯

    My father's Lazarus DNA shows 1 generation off in the matches. His DNA profile were 4 children, my mother, 2 first cousins (one maternal and one paternal), a niece and a couple of 1C1R. Lazarus requires at least 6 or more DNA kits to be created (or did several years ago)

    • @FamilyHistoryFanatics
      @FamilyHistoryFanatics  2 года назад

      No, I've created them with less than six kits. However, you have to have at least 1500 cM for a kit to be processed. Unless you have several children, you will need a lot of kits to get to 1500 cM.

    Awesome video, I have a question though, once you create a Lazarus kit, if you run it through the gedmatch heritage calculators, does this kit also reflect a more accurate representation of your deceased grandparent's ethnicities? My maternal cousins show Native and African on Ancestry and ftdna as well as my mother, but creating the kit for her mother....so I'm just wondering if running through the heritage tests if the results will be accurate, more accurate, or not dependable? Thanks for the video, I'm going try this!

    Awesome video. Very well organized with a logical progression. I plan on creating a Lazarus kit for my deceased father based on previous Ancestry tests for my mother and I and yet to be ordered kits for my two brothers. Your comments regarding some of the vendors using a newer chipset, but with lower SNP counts threw me for a bit of a loop. Does one of your other videos expand upon this? By default I would have my brothers tested on Ancestry due to the larger population of potential matches, but should I consider another company with an eye to generating a better Lazarus kit?

    • @FamilyHistoryFanatics

      No, any of the companies tests are going to be adequate for a Lazarus kit.

    Have you tried making a Lazarus kit for yourself so you can compare to your actual kit?
    I’d love to do a Lazarus kit for my mom. I have my dad’s kit, brother and sister’s and a maternal 1st cousin (would love to get an uncle or the file to my mom’s maternal and paternal 1st cousins who’ve tested)
    When I get more free time in my life, I will probably hop back on GEDmatch.

      No, but I have made Lazarus kits for my dad and for my grandpa (both of whose DNA I have) which is what I use in these videos.

    How would I upload the data if members of my family took different tests? E.g., I took FamilyTreeDNA and they took 23&Me. Would I input a text file, and what would I have them send to me to input?

    • @FamilyHistoryFanatics
      @FamilyHistoryFanatics  2 года назад

      First, you (or they) need to transfer their DNA to GEDmatch. ruclips.net/video/g84YAqzR17U/видео.html
      Then, discover the kit numbers for everyone after they upload to GEDmatch and you can then use this tool.

      DO NOT open the file that you download from FTDNA and 23&Me ruclips.net/video/-Z4vyKuSXa4/видео.html

    I am so enjoying your videos Andrew. Lately I have realized that I need to do more with my DNA than just find automatically created matches, which don't tell me if they are maternal or paternal. My dilemma right now is that I have very little DNA for my mother as I can find only one match at Gedmatch, whom I know from Ancesty * My Heritage are good matches to her. However, I have created Lazarus data with that little dna I have. Will these be enough to at least get me started?
    1582 single allele SNPs were derived for the resulting kit.
    3190 bi-allelic SNPs were derived for the resulting kit.
    4772 total SNPs were derived for the resulting kit.
    35.1 total cm's were derived for the resulting kit.
    Thanks for any help.

    I have my mom's DNA, my DNA, and the DNA of my three siblings. I took DNA tests for myself on both Ancestry and 23&me. I compared the Ancestry and 23&me kits to each other and they are 99% a match. Would it give me an edge to include both kits when trying to make a Lazarus of my dad? Just curious.

      Great question. I would recommend creating a Super Kit with your DNA. Then use the Superkit with the tests you mentioned. If you have the DNA of other known relatives of your father that would really help.

    How would you handle the following.? The target person had 5 children. She was married twice. I have dna of one husband by which she had 2 children, and I have the dna of these 2 children. I have the dna of the other 3 children also. I have dna of 2 full nieces, and dna of multiple half nieces, nephews, etc etc. can I use the dna of the spouse (group 0), and the group 1 put all 5 kids even though 3 are not group 0 related. Should I just put the 2 kids as group 1, and the remaining 3 in group 2.
    By already doing visual phasing, I’ve already determined that I have about 95% coverage and have determined which dna came from from each of her parents. I just need to package it properly in a kit.

      If there are children from multiple spouses, don't include either spouse in Group 0, leave it blank. Put all of the kids in Group 1.

    If I have two kits from different companies for my dna, should I add both of them as seperate children if I’m looking for my fathers dna? At present I only myself, two of my children (which I assume I don’t use) and his sister as well as my mother for group 0. Thanks.

    Is it possible to do this for a target person who is 5 generations back? I have made contact with some of his other descendants from his other children, some who have done DNA testing, some who haven’t. I’m descended from the first child who was born 20 days after he and his wife arrived in NYC. I’m wondering if it is possible to confirm that he is the father of this child by comparing with others descended from later children?

    • @FamilyHistoryFanatics
      @FamilyHistoryFanatics  2 года назад

      Yes it is possible, although at that distance, it is unlikely that you would have enough matches to meet the 1500cM threshold.
