For many of us, Kirk's guitar solos were pure pleasure and inspiration, since the very beginning from the "Kill Em All" to the "Black Album" almost every guitar solo was fantastic. This is an honest tribute to one of his most "romantic" guitar solos and it proves the fantastic melodic and harmonic richness it contained.

the unforgiven and the 2nd to live is to die solo are my absolute favorite kirk solos. Speed isn'teverything. And Kirk got that... :D Oh btw, Kirk had to fight both metallica and bob rock to get this solo on the black album. They all hated it...

If not, it's definately worth checking out! It is a brilliant collab with the late composer Michael Kamen. It's also on DVD (got them both).

what percentage of metal solos are an 8o's-ish rendition of classical patterns? Anyway I do agree, this is fantastic!
I read once that hard rock’s roots and inspiration was blues, while for metal it is classical music. The way metal is written is way closer to classical music than blues. The theme of the lyrics is also more oriented towards mythology’ whereas hard rock lyrics are cars and beer.
If you like classical AND metal try “power metal” its classical music on electric guitars
It depends on their tracks. If it is like this, yeah, it fits. :D

lo bueno, lo malo, lo feo.... lo bueno navegar a traves de los solos mas intrincados y sentimentales de kirk en la era dorada de metallica kill/black debe ser para la orquesta un ejercicio sumamente entretenido , lo cual queda demostrado en la perfecta ejecución que realizan de esta seccion de unforgiven, adicional a lo anterior la guitarr, el bajo y la bateria ceden por completo el protagonismo mas que merecido a la orquesta que nos regala un pasaje melodico digno de los mejores tiempos del black album. lo malo es mas que obvio, solo nos regalan unos segundos de la cancion y nos dejan con esa desgraciada hambre de seguir escuchando mas y mas, lo feo pues mi trauma de siempre, pinche metallica por que no tocaron este tema en ninguno de sus sinfonicos? un desperdicio total que afortunadamente estos excelentes musicos rescatan desde lo mas negro del black y nos regalan en plena cuarentena....saludos desde mexico y lavense las manos con agua y con jabon...como pinpon
Eres lo máximo hermano. me encanta tu comentario. Personalmente Metallica se termina en este disco, luego vienen sólo desgracias hasta el Death Magnétic. Es verdad que uno se queda con el gusto. Trabajaré la versión sinfónica completa con mucha dedicación. A lavarse las manos colo pinpon.
