Ferrari has adopted an assertive strategy to outmaneuver their competitors, focusing on talent acquisition, hiring designers, and replicating key upgrade components to ensure future dominance. This strategy is primarily affecting Mercedes and Red Bull, as Ferrari attracts significant personnel from these teams. Could this hint at a potential title challenge from Ferrari? Let's explore their recent notable hires and changes.
Ferrari has appointed Jerome D'Ambrosio, who was previously Toto Wolff's effective deputy at Mercedes, as their new deputy team principal and head of the Formula One driver academy. Additionally, they've brought on board Loic Serra, the former Mercedes performance director, as their new head of chassis performance engineering.
D'Ambrosio, a former F1 driver, is stepping into the role left by Laurent Mekies, who has become Red Bull's team chief this season. Mekies was the sporting director and essentially Fred Vasseur's deputy at Ferrari. D'Ambrosio and Serra will commence their roles at Ferrari on October 1st of this year. Following his racing career, D'Ambrosio served as the deputy team principal and later overall manager of the Venturi Formula E team.
