I remember reading a comment saying that Proximus Caesar could be a descendant of Koba, in which Koba survived, went to find apes in another location, formed his own group, and used Caesar's own teachings while also twisting them. Noa could also be a descendant of Caesar.

Also, in the end credits of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, you can hear Koba, or what appears to be Koba's faint breathing.
