Shure's EQ now applies to the headphones so you can listen to them through any streaming service with the sound profile adjusted. I think that should help with bass. I had the Aonic 50s long ago when the EQ only worked with local device music, still really liked it, but tempted to pick up the 50s again since they go under $200 all the time on ebay, and from what I remember they were one of my favorite headphones I've listened to.
Looking for good headphones to power them from my phone. Beyerdynamics amicron look nice but they are open back and I need closed back so it doesn’t leak sound. Any advice? I want cable connection not Bluetooth ideally :) great channel by the way. At the moment I use sennheiser hd580 ( old open back) and they sound great but I would like similar sounded ones with closed back ( might be wishful thinking 🤔). All the best
Thanks for the support. If you want good closed back headphones that are going to be powered by a phone, it is hard to recommend many top models because your phone's headphone amplifier won't be powerful enough to drive such loads. Ideally, you're going to want something with low impedance if you want to go wired. I think you can't go wrong with something like a Sony MDR 7506 (classic headphones used for recording). Great heritage and has been in production for decades - though, it's a bit bright but everything is clear at least. Audio Technica M50x is also a legend in this market and known for its soundstaging in a closed back design. Another competitor is Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro - just make sure you get the 32ohm version. They have great sound isolation properties and are very popular studio headphones
Good to see you'r back mate! Out of misery I had to revert to Joe 'n Tell, so please consider more frequent reviews! 🤡 I was quite disappointed by the Sennheiser, it's just...all about that bass ☹️ Great timing too, as I bought the Momentum 2 for my wife years ago and recently wondering about the new one. You know, after so many years they come back with magic. No need to upgrade at all, that's clear. I now owe you a pint or 10, as I can skip my wife (catwoman) 😄 Out of the bunch I prefered the Bose for being the most balanced (besides ANC). Up to 100K, that wig is waiting.
Haha no harm done Mike 😄. I've been a bit stressed recently - and I feel like I don't know where to take the channel. I have so many ideas, but not all of them always work (so I guess I was a little tired and needed a break!) Also been upgrading the sound system at home, which has taken up a fair bit of time lol! Glad everything is ok with you - yes, I'd stick with the Momentum 2 if you're happy with those :)
@@geezerintotech No worry, take it easy. With respect, when a channel is 't mainstream, it's maybe harder to find an audience? I feel you provide good, down to earth, practical info. Even better, humor, honesty and some sceptisism chime in for free. I like that format (and it served me well). Yes, I'll stick to the Momentums 2 for now, however (for myself), I've been eying some other cans. Currently I'm deeply attached to my old Sennheiser HD25's, but the newish 560s have my attention. Mixed reviews (that's why we need MDT!), but they seem quite neutral and more spacious. I've been listening to the 6x series, but found them projecting a 3 point soundstage, like left, right, mids, and nothing inbetween. 🤔 Unfort. no 560s to try. Anyway, hope you and spouse are doing great. See you later buddy! 😉
@@34332 Cheers for the pat on the back Mike :) I can't thank you enough Yes, you're right it is very difficult to find an audience when the channel is small - because this channel is reliant on people actually searching for my content - whereas these days most of the views actually come from Recommended Videos (many people just browse through RUclips these days and don't actually use the search bar). So what that means is I can produce videos, spend alot of time, and then only get a handful of views - it can be quite off-putting. However, when the channel is larger, RUclips should start recommending more of my videos. I do have some ideas in mind though - to be frank I don't see myself only doing Hifi in the years to come - there are many channels that are already doing that and the growth potential isn't there in my opinion (just think the biggest names in the industry only have 100-250k subscribers - sounds like alot but these days that's considered a small-medium channel). For the future, I think this channel will simply evolve into being a reflection of my interests/ambitions - so Hifi, mainstream tech, tech detoxing, music, food, mindful diet and exercise. And I would like to share these experiences with my subscribers/viewers/friends. Therefore, the channel bio will probably become a bit broader (which admittedly has some downsides), but at least I'm not restricting myself to just one audience - and at the same time I don't get bored (reviewing just Hifi products day in day out can get pretty boring if I'm honest, especially when you consider the products barely improve each generation - B&W 600 series is a prime example) Moving on from that topic, I can't say I've heard the HD560s. However, I do have a set of HD599SE which I can attest to being very good for the money I paid (£99.99 last Xmas on Amazon). They're very comfortable, I use them for work calls at my desk, playing the piano through headphones - pretty much an all-round stunner - I love them as my dailies. The other thing is the sound signature - the 599's don't upset me and wouldn't most people I think - the trebles are nice and not overexposed, I can still hear plenty midrange and the bass is just the right quantity. For what I paid, I'm more than impressed with its ability to soundstage. Sounds like from your experience the 6xx series lacks sub-bass which is the foundation of all music - even if the instruments don't necessarily play very low in the track, a lack of sub-bass frequency feels like the audio is floating with nothing underpinning the mix (similar to those Shure's I reviewed in this video). The HD800's are also very much like this - they prioritise a wider soundstage over anything but overall the headphones sound unrealistic until some bass is EQ'd in. For me, I prefer to substitue the widest soundstage with better tonal balance and low distortion - headphones are headphones - they'll never sound like speakers in a room! If I can suggest some alternatives to look in to: 1. HD600 (an absolute classic) 2. HD650 (also a classic, but less open sounding with more enriched bass, slightly darker sound) 3. AKG K712 Pro (I think a very good balance of everything - you'll hear details, good sub-bass, wider soundstage than most Sennheiser products). You can also get them for a very good price these days (about £200?). Bear in mind I paid about £350 for mine back in 2013. My Senn HD650 on other hand I had to pay about £400 for - I think the AKG's are better overall
Hi sir !!!! I bought today the bose 700, sony xm4 earbuds and the sony xm4 over the ear… i still have the bose quietcomfort. I recently update the quietcomfort with new EQ…. Ouch !!! Many !! MANY headphone over the ear don’t match with the bose quietcomfort. Bose 700 is waste of money !! No bass… ohh sorry for that… NOOO bass at all !!!!! I put the bass at +10 on the eq and (criquet sound)…so people: DON’T BUY BOSE 700!!!!! You waste your money ! Now the sony earbuds xm4: wow the disaster !!!! They are yearlight from the bose quietcomfort !!!!! This is a MAJOR difference between them !!! Trust me !! I am listening to them right now and trust me: DON’T BUY EARBUDS XM4!!!!!!!! Waste of money… PERIOD!!!! Now: over the ear sony xm4: by far, one of the best headphones i hava tried (with b&w px7 and senn momentum 3)!!!! SO, IF YOU WANT EARBUDS: choose bose quietcomfort !!!!! With their new eq it’s fantastic !!!! If you have more money, buy b&w pi7 (wow!!!). For over the ear: xm4 sony and b&w px7 or sennheiser momentum 3. PERIOD ! Ohhh if you have a lot of money, choose b&w px7 and download amazon music or Tidal. It’s important to have good headphones, but if you have spotify, you will get nowhere in good sound!!! With the b&w px7 and their aptx hd (hi resolution)… ouch my lord !!!! The difference. !!! Trust me on this!!! In the range of 0-500$ us, the only to have aptx hi res, is the b&w px7. So, take this advice and have fun with your listening !

Bad sound impression to the Shure?
Maybe his listening to an mp3.
I think its just bt mode
Agree with you 100% on Sennheiser momentum 2 sounding better. Well balanced sound all frequencies compliment each other for a great listening session.
