  • This B-Class ModernComfort (BMC) combines the best of Hymer and Mercedes and throws a whole host of extra kit into the mix, making it a great introduction into the Hymer brand.

    An amazing van, very well thought out and compared to the VW transporter from last week at a very similar price, I know which one I'd pick. Thank you for another great review.

    I'm glad you mentioned it's front wheel drive, amazing how many reviews fail to state this.

    Peter another professional review of a terrific motorhome from Hymer, with typical quality of fixtures and fittings with a modern contemporary interior. I very much like the look of both the interior and exterior of this motorhome. Personally I'm not a fan of drop down beds so to know its available as a three berth is encouraging. It has a very well equipped kitchen and washroom so its very nice to be self sufficient and not have to rely on the campsite facilities. However the one draw back for me is the fact that the double rear bed is a transverse arrangement, meaning who evers at the rear has to clamber over the other to access the loo in the middle of the night. It is expensive but guess that's the price for quality and if the rear bed were lateral then the dinette would suffer and be smaller? Overall a terrific review of an exceptional motorhome, thank you for sharing.

    Mr Peter Vaughan from the respectable MotorhomeCampervan is the only one - and I will repeat this now - THE ONLY journalist, that actually drives these campers. Why is that crucial? Well, because of the noise and rattling, of course! As an example, what would be the difference between one very good KIA Sorento and a BMW X5/X7 or a Mercedes GLE/GLS? Well to be honest, not much, except for the noise. And yes, we do pay indeed not to hear noise, not to have rattling and to have a car-like air or similar suspension.
    The question is why others just take pictures of a camper, open that well-known refrigerator on both sides and, more or less, that is it? Is it maybe that if potential buyers would hear what garbage has a price of 100k or more, they could presumably sell it only to themselves?
    Which van does not rattle? Which base vehicle is quieter? Who really knows the difference between the ride quality in VW Crafter versus Mercedes Sprinter? What is it like to have a 500 km trip in a Ducato based camper?
    It is sad and horrible to conclude that it only makes sense to watch Mr. Vaughan's reviews. He takes a vehicle for a ride, lets you hear it, lets you see how it moves/goes over bumps and tells you a word or two about the noise, rattling, and the ride comfort. I am following almost all popular RUclips channels in English in German and I can not believe that so many others really think that they have sheep for audience. Making reviews by trying to get another paid add from the very maker of the tested vehicle is quite noticeable and certainly not very recommendable.
    Mr. Vaughan, thank you for the way how you present key features of these overpriced revamped cargo vans. If you change the career, I will have to start reviewing the campers myself. o.O
    Greetings from the city of Cologne to you and to your team!

      Thank you so much for your comments. It would be so much easier to just turn up at a dealership and "review" a motorhome in the showroom, but we all know that's not a road test...
      Sometimes I upset people with an honest report on the vehicles I test but, hey, that's my job...
      Thanks again, Peter

    Fabulous van with typical German attention to detail and quality. Expensive but so much more for your money than the VW you reviewed last week. They’ve thought of everything.. nearly. An extra 2 reading lights on each of the opposite corners to the ones already installed would give everyone a reading light no matter which way around you choose to sleep and get around the shelf problem if you wanted to sit up.. just turn around and sit up at the other end, although I agree with you that shelf does seem silly. It’d be better to have a flip up shelf on the side of the wardrobe, somewhere to put your coffee cup and phone. The reading lights should have USB ports too. The other thing I think they’ve missed is an extension to the kitchen work surface as there’s really very little. You can’t have a flip up worktop on the end as there’s the side pull out drawers but there could be a pull out work surface drawer inside the top drawer on heavy duty drawer slides. That would be a huge plus. I’d have more shelves in the wardrobe too, removable but also with a cut out slot at one side so you could hang a dress or two, feeding it through the slot to the lower section. Then you could hang up a couple of long items alongside folded items on the shelf. Gives you options. Use as one double hanging wardrobe; one hanging, one shelves; all shelves or a hybrid of the two. They need something so that you can hang items to dry in the bathroom too, pull out washing line or similar. They need a woman on the design team! Great review as always. Thank you.

    An excellent review, by the world’s greatest Motorhome reviewer. I like that you (unlike many other reviewers) take the vehicle out on road tests.
    As for the Hymer, I absolutely love the BMC T White Line, particularly given how it’s paired with the Mercedes Sprinter.
    The drop down bed is a creative option in low profile Motorhomes, and I understand that you can get an option of a 5th travelling seat.
    I noticed in your review that the dealership didn’t appear to supply you with gas bottles. I’d be keen to have thoughts on the benefit (or otherwise) of fitting refillable Gaslow to these vehicles.
    The potential ‘underwear compartment’ under the dinette area looks suspiciously like a place to store the headrests, when not in transit 😊

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for your comments.
      No, I didn't get gas but, if it was mine, I'd definitely go for Gaslow for easier refills abroad and cheaper gas.
      Not sure that the headrests would fit under the dinette seat.

      I’ve got a similar Hymer outfit, sticking to 60mph on Motorways and 50mph on single carriageway roads I get 26-27mpg. The performance of this engine is excellent and the handling much better than you would expect. However, you can easily go faster, but then the MPG suffers.

      It's in a different market segment really - quality is in a different league and the Merc chassis adds desirability (and cost).

  • @simonmellor4028
    @simonmellor4028 2 года назад

    The build quality looks in a different league to Swift et al. The Mercedes chassis looks, and seems ro drive so much more effortless too. I'm not a fan of the ducato. Sure, it's tried and tested, and serves a purpose, but if I'm going to be driving across Europe, then comfort and refinement are fairly high up the priority list. Reading lights can be bought cheaply. Hymer are worthy contenders for me. Thanks for the detailed review

    An interesting and informative video. I just know when you are going to comment, @Peter V about not being able to sit up in bed and also about the position or lack of reading lamps. I have driven a MBenz automatic both here and in New Zealand and they are definitely a great drive. I guess there is a little extra length over the Ducato just by the fact that the engine compartment extends further forward of the windscreen. A great video again, so many thanks.

    id rather have a u shaped lounge than a fixed bed that beds not needed at the rear there as theres a good size drop down you could just rearrange the cushions at rear to make another bed all that does is rob space

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  Год назад +1

      Plenty of buyers prefer a fixed bed, which will also be more comfortable than one made from seats. Lose the rear bed and you lose the garage, so where does anything bulky go then? And if you only have the drop-down bed, then your lounge is gone when the bed is in use.

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  2 года назад

      Yes, the Hymer is lovely but it's not really fair to compare it with the VW. An SUV and a sports car could be priced the same but they do different things and suit different folk.
